In one word, he had drawn their attention onto him. They continued talking as though they'd live long enough to finish the job, he didn't have the heart to tell them the truth. Their days of moronic demon hunting were about to come to a very abrupt end. He could feel it with every fiber of his being- his muscles and mind completely focused as one for the first time in a long time. His anger had curled his fists and united a previously-divided house, one they soon would wish hadn't.
"I wouldn't want you to miss that," Vincent said. His voice hissed between his teeth and his words hung with an unsettling cold, like snow falling on an open flame. "I'll be sure to rip your heart out and show it to the other, that was everyone wins." The last of the light in his eyes faded, replaced with a coldness that matched his voice.
Before they could even react he was in front of the first one, wiping the smirk clean off his face with a swift punch to the jaw. He felt the bone snap under his knuckles, hitting with such force the dislocated bone could be seen the moment it happened. The raven would make him suffer, he'd make them all suffer. He rounded on the second as the first one staggered backward, opening his clawed hand and thrusting it into the second man's chest. He felt the metal bite and sink into muscle, blood poured from five golden points as the man screamed in pain. Without even a wince Vincent pulled his claws out of the torn flesh, he watched as the man fell to the ground. He'd made sure he had pierced his opponent's heart- just enough to make him die slowly.
A third man had been watching the altercation and had slunk back down the alleyway, attempting to escape. Vincent had shown them the terror and pain he could achieve as only a man, it was time to show them what he could do as a demon. His fists curled into balls so tight they shook, he squeezed his eyes shut and called upon the power within his chest he desperately tried to ignore. He felt the warmth spread through his ribs and run down his spine, for a moment a smirk pulled at his pale lips. He opened his eyes and his vision was red, but the feeling was familiar enough to know his eyes were a haunting yellow. His hands became claws, his jaw widened to reveal sharper, pointed teeth. Long tattered wings pulled at his shoulder-blades and as he saw their pale faces and widened eyes.
He was enough of himself to watch them die, and enough of something else not to care.Ā He was Chaos, and he was coming for them.
With a bound of bigger feet he hopped toward the running man, one clawed hand clamped onto the man's neck. His claws were long enough to wrap around his neck and the man was screaming for help. Vincent squeezed and he felt his opponent's neck snap as if it had been made out of a thin pasta noodle. He tossed the body to one side easily, turning back toward the other one. One man was left, cowering in the corner with a wounded jaw. Yellow eyes narrowed as he turned back, each footstep thudded and echoed off the walls like a slow death march. Without even looking his hand met the body of the now-dead second man, pulling something out of frail human ribs and holding it in his hand. He stopped only a step away from the man, opening his hand to reveal the still-warm heart of one of the man's allies.
He let out a high-pitched scream, one that rang in the air after he stopped. He curled himself tighter into the corner, cowering away from Vincent. "MONSTER!" He screamed again. With a twisted smile, Vincent held out his hand right at the attacker's throat. He wanted to see the fear. Vincent uttered a single word- three syllables that caused water to spring into his victim's eyes.
Coldly his claws dragged against skin as he slashed open the man's throat. He straightened up, tossing the organ toward the other man. He wheezed and gagged but Vincent simply watched, he had every intention of letting the monster die slowly. He stayed just long enough to watch the man's vision grow distant, the anger drained from him along with his power- wings shrunk and faded like paper being eaten by fire and his claws only became one. He had gotten his revenge; the bodies of three men lay strewn about in the alleyway. The next step had begun.
With that, he rushed over to Phillipa's side.
