@quiicknock - I cannot believe you’ve called me out like this.
THICK LASHES LIFTED unveiling amber hues which sought out the sea of her Sister’s piercing gaze. Nae drew on a deep breath, her full lips pursing on the inhale before she chuckled and waved away her sibling’s worry. “Stop fussing,” the Dalmascan girl mused with a wry grin, “I’m fine.”
Her softer, gentle, hands came to rest feather light over the Bard’s as she peeked upwards, “You’re tense.” she mused, giving Rena’s hand which still cupped her cheek a gentle squeeze. “Perhaps some time in the waters of Bronze Lake would soothe that, or would you rather stop fretting and get on with the task at hand?” The words were uttered with a sly wink, the younger of the pair rarely taking her Sister’s concerns seriously as per usual. Yet, it was a sign she was being honest. Had she not been fine surely her words would not have been so cheeky.
“C'mon, or would you rather keep the Scions waiting?”
ALWAYS THE OPTIMIST. Even when the waves of realism crashed down ‘pon them greater than the waves of La Noscea ( The winds of Thanalan ; the chill of Ishgard. Their calls were foreign, oftentimes unwelcoming ) Nae continued to emanate mirth. Stoicism was Rena’s friend ; it’s aloof demeanour a protection against the weight of the world. And yet, in spite of that, her sister’s coyness was met with a wry smile and the pinch of rounded cheeks. She shook her head from side to side.
❝NEXT YOU’LL DRAG ME TO MOONFIRE,❞ Rena teased, alluding to a time not-so long ago where fireworks streaked the skies over Costa Del Sol and nimble legs carried Nae’s dancing feet over the still-warm sand. A lifetime ago, it felt; back when worries of heroism were stoked by talks of republics, and the two could take a break from war. ❝Or is it you who yearns for the break and I am merely the scapegoat?❞
SATISFIED, AT LEAST FOR THE MOMENT, Rena’s hands fell to her side --- though not before giving her sister’s shoulders a squeeze. ❝We’ll be able to rest soon enough,❞ she reassured, both to allude that it was she who needed the respite but also to promise her the break. ❝Then you can ogle the Scions from afar.❞ She winked back.
