Data centers as a piece of infrastructure are essential.

Data centers are used for mass surveillance and are a powerful tool for oppression and censorship, be it by countries or powerful corporations.

A lot of the current rush of data centers being built are part of a hype bubble and the way in which they're built is both harmful and wasteful and causes more harm than the value these pieces of infrastructure are worth.

These three facts exist simultaneously and we can't just pick and choose which ones we believe inm

I feel like a lot of the conflation between AI and data centers is being pushed by pro-AI groups to tie their shitty, hype-driven scam to useful, real world infrastructure and it is imperative that people don't fall for it.

That's not to say stop pushing back on new data centers, just that people need to understand why and how to push back, as well as where it's worth putting in the effort.

Give him an arena-spanning passive AOE that's constantly killing you.

His attacks one-shot all but the tankiest builds. They also apply just, so many debuffs in case you do somehow survive.

Highest armor in the game, all but the strongest attacks basically do nothing.

Also his health regens.

And he's not even there to fight you, he's on a completely unrelated mission and you just happen to run into him, then he kills you.

The Sony shills are getting desperate. They know they’re on the losing side of the argument, hence why they have to make up guff like this. If the facts truly support their claim that digital is the future, then why are they lying? They shouldn’t need to, should they? 🤔

Here's the thing, as someone who maintains both a physical and self-hosted digital media archive.

All forms of media storage decay. Every single one. Your DVDs and hard drives age just as surely and gradually as you do and they require care and upkeep to maintain, just like the servers hosting media you don't own. The difference? Blank replacement drives can be bought in bulk, and don't need to be renewed every month for an arbitrary cost that can change at any time. They are, in the long run, cheaper than a single subscription.

You know one thing localized media doesn't suffer from? Bandwidth compression! I can take the original high-quality media files I own and migrate them from dying DVD, to hard drive, burn it back to a DVD, and back until I die and they will barely degrade, but Netflix mangles color balance and chops up video and audio quality to pocket just a little bit more of the bandwidth cost.
