This is a personal quibble but I have never, ever been fond of dragon bio themes. I’m going to rant about this for a minute, but I realize this is a heavily unpopular opinion, and I’m not going to change any minds--and I’m not looking to change any minds either, I just wanna get this off my chest. I fucking hate bio themes, to me it’s all style no substance. a person can add a bio theme to your dragon bio to make it look pretty and make it look substantive, but making a bio pretty != making a bio of a good character; and i guess it frustrates me that people mistake “oh it looks pretty” for “oh this is a good character”. (well, I’m not sure anyone actually makes that mistake--but what I would prefer to see is raw paragraphs of text, instead of very pretty but content-less bios that only have lorem ipsum or placeholder.)

I remember early in my FR career (around 2013, when the site first launched, and ungened ridgebacks were still 120kT), that I wanted to form an external community that could, loosely speaking, curry respect among the community. if there was drama or such, we could say something about it, people would respect our opinion and acknowledge us as a powerful organized force.

well, three years later, FR is a complete anarchy hell infested by shitposters, so I don’t think our idea would have taken off anyway

Probably a poor explanation because I’m not 100% sure. But the dragontags were made to battle the influx of spam that seems to be going on in the FR, and many other popular tags on Tumblr. It gets so bad it floods everything, so when it happens, people generally switch to a dragontag for the time being until the spam stops. 

I’m not sure about the different numbered dragontags, but I think it’s so that spam doesn’t get into those tags too? Or spam has already gotten in them? I’m not sure on that front.
