I like the way this show is handling pi's obliviousness in that it makes sense that he is oblivious. Usually when characters are super dense or oblivious it's very annoying to me (looking at you tine, no offense) because it just feels like a weak narrative device to delay the plot and provide some cheap comedy but ultimately it feels unrealistic which makes it frustrating to watch. But with Pi, it makes more sense because 1) he has nam-vision and 2) he has trust issues.
Pi is super focused on nam, and he assumes that mork also likes nam--a fact which while he does not directly confirm it, in context it sounded like he did confirm it. So, it's not unreasonable that pi thinks mork likes nam, and therefore wouldn't read any romantic intentions in mork's actions. After all, why would his rival being flirting with him?
Also, he has trust issues. After finding out what his ex-friends atually thought about him, he has a hard time trusting people because he can't tell if their words/actions are genuine and that they're not making fun of him behind his back. So, he has his guard up around mork, and it's why he was so quick to think mork set him up last episode. Especially bc he thinks mork sees him as a rival and so would be looking for opportunities to make him look bad. So he views all of mork's actions with a lot of skepticism, thinking anything could be a ploy to gain his trust then betray him, so it's possible that even if he is picking up on mork's intentions (friendly or romantic) he doesn't trust them to be genuine and so ignores them.
I just feel like I understand pi and where he's coming from so his obliviousness makes more sense within the context of his character. Also, i headcanon him as autistic which would further add to why he's not very good at reading people when they aren't direct.
