“I know. You were only looking out for me. I’m not mad at you for caring.” It wasn’t in her best interest to push him away. He was kind to her, and she didn’t have to put up any pretenses around him. It would upset her greatly to lose his friendship. She made no move to gather up her things, expecting him to carry them. She did reach out for his arm. “Yes. It’s becoming too crowded here for my taste.”
“Good, that really isn’t a very good reason to be mad at me.” he said teasingly. Once he gathered up both their books, he let her take his hand, a small smile playing on his lips as they walked out of the library and into the hallway. “That girl, Emilia, she was in your year right?” he asked as he turned sideways to look at her. “Did yo know her well?”
