unironically i think we need to bring back computer labs because APPARENTLY some people WERENT taught basic computer literacy and internet safety in school
things about computers/the internet i think kids should be formally taught in schools because theyre important to know and the amount of soon to be grown adults i know who know NOTHING about any of these is quite frankly almost all of them (and resources to learn if you dont know these things, because its never to late to get better with computers)
how to troubleshoot by yourself when you have a technical problem
what common file types are
some very basics on how to use ""developer tools"" on your computer (because i cant think of a better way to refer to them) like task manager and command prompt (and their mac equivalents, terminal and activity monitor ofc)
how to read and understand a privacy policy and what your personal data is, as well as what it being collected actually means and steps you can take to keep it private
how to understand terms of service
(hey. if you have trouble with reading legalese and worry about being able to understand these policies anyways, here's a site that gives basic summaries of privacy policies and ToS)
what a cookie actually is
internet privacy and your digital footprint!! seriously i dont know why we stopped teaching people that they shouldnt be putting their entire real identity online in a world where your online actions can ruin you irl
basic safety measures like antivirus software (and why you should use it or if the built in one on windows or mac is enough for you) and backing up your computer (also a mac guide)
common keyboard shortcuts (and on mac)
as an additional note: things i think everyone should know on computers and the internet but schools may bit hesitant to teach about for whatever moral/legal standards schools pretend to operate on
vpns and adblockers! (btw for most of these where you can pay for things im purposefully not recommending any specific software but seriously just use ublock origin for an adblocker)
how to not get a virus while pirating something
what a temporary email is and when to use one
red flags that you shouldn't trust a website (and how to quickly check the security of a site)
what javascript on a website does and how to disable it to get around paywalls
ok one last addition! if you want to take it one level higher, i think learning the very basics of at least one programming language is good for people. it makes computers less scary and it makes you feel very cool, and a lot of people get discouraged about it because it seems overly complicated and hard to learn outside a formal classroom setting, so heres some resources for learning the very basics of python (because i consider it the easiest language to learn and knowing one language will make it easier to learn others)
an online compiler so you dont need to download anything or worry about running code directly on your computer if that makes you nervous
a basic video guide to introduce you to python and walk you through beginner steps
a guide to some syntax and commands you should know (this was literally my lifeline in my first CS class)
some performance tasks to give you things to code to practice and assess yourself
hiii loni im here for your mini requests, if this sparks inspiration!!
reader teasing enjin under the table......... in a crowded dining hall with friends packed tightly around you
ENJIN x READER | 550 words
You try to flirt, Enjin doesn't understand. That's it. That's the post. Not proofread!
The first time, Enjin files it away as a mistake.
When he feels your heel hitting his foot underneath the table, he doesn’t think much of it. Especially not, when he looks up at you and you’re looking at Riyo, clearly listening to her intently, as she tells you about their trip to Canvas Town. Maybe, you didn’t feel it or maybe, you thought you had hit one of the table’s supports right by the middle of it.
Whatever.
He's had a pretty shit day but he's not childish enough to make you the victim of his pettiness and his willfulness today, to file everything away as an annoying act, done fully on purpose.
The second time leaves him suspicious.
Your foot comes to rest over his, the sole of your heel pressing onto the material of his sneakers. Just enough for him to understand that it’s done with purpose. Enjin catches your gaze across the table, while you give him a sideways glance. Your expression doesn’t tell him much, aside from the fact that you’re aware and that you’re being a piece of work again.
Raising a brow at you, Enjin gives you a chance to explain yourself or give him a hint as to what your endgame is, but you turn away and chatter happily with Semiu, who doesn’t notice whatever has been going on between you two.
Then, you lift your foot just enough for the tip of your heel to slip under the edge of his pants, where you caress his leg, tugging the material of his pants upwards as your foot follows the line of his leg.
It takes everything in him not to react, due to the fact that he's terribly ticklish.
Well… Now he’s irritated.
Enjin pushes back, knocking your foot off of his before he bumps the front of his shoe against yours, like a petulant child. You being annoying is nothing new, so the least he can do is return it the same way.
He repeats it, when you don't react. Once, then twice. Semiu is telling you something and you're listening intently. At least, you're pretty damn good at acting like it.
So, Enjin does the rational thing.
He kicks you in the shin.
A sharp gasp leaves you and you hunch over the table, lifting your head just enough to shoot him a glare. “What the fuck?” you hiss and Enjin shrugs.
Semiu glances between the two of you.
“Are you…okay?” she asks, her eyes trailing from you to Enjin, then back to you.
“Never been better.”
This prompts another mean look from you before you tuck your legs under your chair and ignore him for the rest of the evening.
Enjin rests his chin in his hand, his elbow propped up on the desk as he regards you.
It's a bit messed up but he thinks about how you look a little cute with that grown on your face. The way your lips are drawn into the most subtle pout is also irritatingly adorable.
Only late at night, when he's been tossing in bed for an hour in an attempt to procrastinate sleep, does your behavior make sense to him. And it's then, that he wants to bang his head against the wall.
You were trying to flirt.
Thank you for requesting, my love 🖤 Have one messy drabble
