I’ve done some Twitter threads on this topic, so thought it might be nice to do a Tumblr post too. One of my pet peeves is when people act like adult fantasy (or sci-fi for that matter) is just a straight white dude thing and that diversity only exists in young adult fantasy. That’s such a disservice to all the authors of marginalized identities currently writing adult fantasy!

Nope! These little kitties are from black jaguar white tiger foundation, a big cat rescue and sanctuary, and the man in the video is Eduardo Serio. He regularly gets orphaned cubs and cubs rescued from the pet trade, when the zoos don’t have enough room. He doesn’t normally socialize with them like this but the margay and jaguar cubs here had already imprinted on humans and can no longer survive in the wild, so he’s been raising them

One day Edward gets a call from Jacob and he’s like “DUDE TURN ON GHOST ADVENTURES RIGHT NOW THEY’RE TALKING ABOUT YOU” and they’re in an old “haunted” Chicago hospital and Zak Bagans says “one of the victims of the Spanish influenza was a seventeen year old boy named Edward who disappeared with no trace one day. Will we come into contact with his spirit tonight?” And Edward of course has to sit down and watch the whole thing and every time they hear anything they’re like “EDWARD? IS THAT YOU?” And Edward just yells at the screen “YEAH, MAYBE”

The family eventually gets a whiteboard to keep track of how many times they’ve each been featured on a ghost hunting show. Alice is in the lead.

you know what after a certain point i dont really care about what parts of mediocre pop media do or don’t qualify as ‘queerbaiting’, or whether or not death of the author matters in fandom, or if those two kind of middling actors did or didn’t hold hands offscreen for a split second in a poorly adapted amazon miniseries. but i’m REALLY tired of straight authors taking it upon themselves to determine what does and doesn’t hypothetically ‘do justice’ to gay love and smugly waxing on about how we gays devalue our own relationships with base things like fucking each other, and having bodies. and if you nerdlingers had any self respect you’d be tired of it too. signing out
