"Always glad to make a contribution to them." he grinned, boldness showing in his voice. "You needed some time alone with him away from havoc, and I… Even if you took that holiday, you will be… paid for it as if you didn’t.  And I won’t accept any complaints from you about my decision, don’t even bother." he mumbled, loosing the boldness and uncapable of looking at her face after such a generous offer from the supposedly frozen-hearted professor. He had seen how Rachel and her son were after that event and the outcomes of that observation weren’t pleasant. Even a heartless and cold man would flinch after seeing them in that state, even if he didn’t admit it.  "Look around you and guess." he pointed, since his office was full of instruments used in experiements and body parts from various creatures which were honestly about to rott, but the smell didn’t bother him since he was used to it. That, and the horse he had just cut in pieces and put in jars after finding it dead in the florest, now put on top of one of his metallic tables.
Rachel smiled and looked down. "Yeah, it was... great. At the lack of a better word. But we had a great time. And this year I could actually give him something that wasn't from the flea market, so that was good." Rachel almost fought him, but he cut her off. "sometimes, I really don't like the way you pamper me. But thanks, I really appreciate it." The barista shook her head. "You need a break from your potions, Flynn. Seriously, every day when I come to work, I fear I'll find you transformed into a dragon or something, it's really stressful."
