Sharing my trans pride Zacian cake for Transgender Day of Visibility! 🏳️⚧️
We made this when one of our Twitch chatters suggested the design a couple years back, and I love it! Zacian's colour scheme is definitely reminiscent of the flag, and being genderless yet referred to as Zamazenta's "elder sister" is quite fitting! The cake is vanilla, with home-made strawberry simple syrup, whipped cream and strawberries.
Trans folks have always been an important part of the Pokemon community, and it's our responsibility as a community to cherish and stand with them. From Meowth's original VA, Maddie Blaustein, to the countless talented artists, thoughtful content creators, skilled competitors, and everyday fans, all deserve to feel safe and seen in Pokemon spaces.
At a time when trans rights are under attack, as trans people are being scapegoated and demonized, we must stand together and be vigilant in our battles, but also in our joy. 🩵🩷🤍🩷🩵
African Woolly Chafers: these beetles have a uniquely "fluffy" appearance, thanks to the long, fur-like setae that covers their bodies
Beetles of the genus Sparrmannia are widely distributed throughout the arid regions of southern Africa. They have very distinctive features, with large, plump bodies and tawny-colored "fur," and some species can measure up to 25mm (nearly 1 inch) long.
They generally hide in underground burrows during the day, and emerge only at night, when the desert is substantially cooler. The dense layer of "fur" acts as insulation, which allows the beetles to remain active at night, even when the temperatures plummet.

Protect your joy as a fanfic writer
Any job gives you a job description and it's only right that you follow through because you're getting paid to do so, right?
But when your boss starts calling you to work at midnight, dictates when and where you can take a bathroom break or lunch break, when you can take your vacation days... it gets ridiculous and you lose your sense of freedom, right?
In the same way as a fanfic writer, you owe your audience some decent grammar, punctuation, vocabulary and a good story if you expect them to sit down and read your story, right?
But when your audience starts to dictate that you change your writing pace, style, fandoms you should write for, and most especially the type of stories you should write... it gets ridiculous and you lose your sense of freedom, right?
NEVER abandon your peace, fun, comfort and joy for anything or anyone. For as long as you're putting in the effort and love, someone will appreciate it.
Don't go the extra mile in the name of "casting a wider net" to capture a wider audience. You're better off with a few, loving, loyal readers than a wide range of fools who will complain anyway and are always ready to ditch you even if you work hard for them
Don't you sometimes get an absolutely extrodinary, mind blowing, such an awesome idea for a story, but you just don't have enough skill level to pull it off?
Write it anyway.

There are so, so, so many reasons:
You gain that skill level only through practice. So practice.
No matter what you’re writing, no matter how badly you think you’ve written it, there is ALWAYS some audience that will love it and cherish it.
You can use what you write the first time around as a first draft and just rewrite it again later when you feel like tackling the story again!
Rewriting the same story over and over is a valid writing process. It’s literally just creating new drafts. Each iteration will be better than the last, because each is building on your growing skill and experience.
If you love the story, it will always be worth telling simply for your own enjoyment. If no one else ever sees it, that’s okay! Your art should be for you first, anyway.

Throwback to when we first started making 🏳️🌈Pokemon Pride desserts back in 2022! I'd figured we'd tackle a bunch of pride flags with similar colour schemes, so we've got shiny Joltik for the intersex flag, Raikou for non-binary, and Gothitelle for the asexual flag! (And snuck in Toxtricity because the colours were just too close!)
These are like cake pops, but with edible cookie dough instead of a cake/icing filling - imo a much more appealing texture (no comment about whether or not I enjoyed making one minty).
