I miss you. Most of the time I don’t, and I’m okay and I don’t think about you, but right now, I miss you. My timelines just seem full of couples and togetherness and partners and holding hands and I miss that. I miss you. And I know I shouldn’t, but it was good. And I don’t understand why you just disappeared. It was really good the last time I saw you, then four days later, there was nothing. I was worried, then confused, then mad, then moving through it. I’m still confused. I wish you’d talked to me. Maybe you still will. It’s weird, because I’d imagined you messaging me when you broke up for Christmas, taunting me about it, like you said you would. Life in lockdown

This is a rough list of all the ‘superficial’ things that I’ll remember lockdown for, or that sum up lockdown for me. Obviously friends and family are a given, but these are just trivial titbits that made the two months(?!) a little bit easier:

* The Trent Nav Sunday Pub Quiz.

* Alison Romans Salted Butter and Chocolate Chunk Shortbread cookies (I made these SO MANY TIMES - for my best friend while she was working for the NHS, for my parents, for my neighbours, for my brother to dunk in his tea)

* Outer Banks

* See also: Rudy Pankow

* Baggy tees and leggings - in particular the ASOS 4505 charcoal leggings and either the Pink Floyd band tee or the humongous Central Perk acid wash top.

* Jigsaw puzzles (bought a lot, did them all, eBayed them after - numero uno was the New York Millennium one I had to fight off other bidders for and now hangs pride of place in my bedroom)

* Table Manners by Jessie and Lennie Ware - the brisket in cola was INCREDIBLE

* Homemade quiches. Another thing I did a lot of. Worth it.

* Bake Off Monday’s and Fat Fridays #keyworkerlife

* Purple shampoo, bondi sands gradual tanner and wavy hair

* SAS on Monday’s, Celebrity GBBO on Tuesdays, Location Location Location on Wednesdays. Every. Week.

* Zumba on Wii

* Fancy Heinz beans (normally served with the aforementioned homemade quiches and chunky potato wedges - this was a regular Saturday tea favourite)

Long time no see Tumblr! Life’s a bit weird at the the minute, right?

I’ve just spent the last half an hour or so looking through the journal tag on my blog after not being on this website for what feels like months (years?!) and I really did love to leave all my thoughts and feelings on here, judging by the very emo posts (I’m looking at you, 2012) so I thought where better to empty my brain in the middle of a global pandemic than on here.

I can’t remember exactly when I first started this blog, but I’m sure it was towards the beginning on uni, so maybe 2009. And I spent a decent amount of time posting about music (god bless Kings of Leon), fashion and generally moaning about work I think. I was also just entering my 20′s, which turned out to be a decade of massive life lessons - graduating from Trent, getting an internship in London, hating it, career change, boys (MEN!!). I’m now approaching my 30th birthday, and to be honest I thought this year was going to be THE ONE. The whole ‘this year is going to be my year’. Yeah, not so much.

I think Covid has took a massive dump on all of our lives, so while I can sit and mope about my own plans going up the shitter, we’re all in the same boat and we’re all thinking of how differently this year could have gone. I’d planned a two week cruise around the Caribbean with my gran in March but that was cancelled the day we were due to fly to Barbados. We’d decided not to go anyway, with my gran being 80 and cruise’s weren't recommended to over 70′s at that point. My best pal and I were on the verge of booking Budapest for this weekend, which were never got to sort out. And the big one is our trip to New York for my 30th in August. We’ve not cancelled it at the minute (we’re seeing whats going to happen with the flights etc) but that one will break my heart when that gets inevitably postponed. I’ve dreamed of going to New York since I was little, and this year I thought it would actually happen.

All of this pales into insignificance against the number of lives lost to this god awful disease and in the grand scheme of things, if postponing a holiday is the worst thing to happen to me, then I think I’m incredibly lucky.

This post probably makes no sense, but I’ve always loved Tumblr for its space to just express yourself and I’ve always found some comfort in saying what I like and feel on here. In the situation we’re all in at the minute, I think having a space to vent/emote/feel is incredibly helpful, so ta Tumblr, my old love.
