HIMARI, 17, 高倉 Life is a beautiful thing, but it's even more splendid with you in it... so let's share the fruit of fate!
Affiliated with Academia Mare! Hope you have a fantastic day!
That was tiring. Dancing, that is. She hoped that Jonathan didn't mind how slow she was, or how little knowledge she possessed concerning dancing itself!
Though, she admitted, it was nice. Draining, but nice. Himari shared the other's parting sentiment. May we dance together again!
She didn’t know how to dance. At all. No dancing skill whatsoever.
Himari looked at the stranger, her eyes widened in curiosity — he was! Different and new! She was undoubtedly excited. She seemed to use the word “excited” a lot. But it described how she felt to the letter! So she never really felt the need to replace it. The ginger played with a few locks of her own hair as she stared up at him, and quietly muttered to herself; yes, yes, she very vaguely remembered a few steps from back when she was little and healthy and able to do these things with little effort.
Gracefully, in a word. In any case, the Takakura girl sure was graceless now! She inhaled sharply, and took both of Sei’s hands in her own — she was going to dance! She was going to do it! She hadn’t even taken a fitness class these past four years but she sure as heck was going to dance! R-Right? She didn’t want to second-guess herself: right, she decided. Himari smiled a quaint smile, and spread her feet — she was going to dance!
She, Himari Takakura, was going to dance like she hadn’t danced in over six years. Oh no. No no no. That didn’t sound good when it was all wrapped up into one sentence like that. That didn’t sound good at all. She didn’t like it. She wanted to take it back, maybe dancing wasn’t such a good idea after all —
Oh! Shehad already stepped on his foot in her miniature panic. Himari uttered a few words of apology, and promised to herself she’d continue on. She would! Definitely do this! She could dance, just wait, all you naysayers — there weren’t any naysayers here! Just herself. But that was okay, because she was going to dance regardless!
"Oh, oh! Okay, let’s dance!" she piped, practically bouncing on her heels. Quickly and without warning, she just went right into it, and did what she remembered: a step there, a step here, rinse and repeat. She only recalled four counts… that was more than nothing, wasn’t it?
Perhaps Sei could forgive her. It wasn’t like she had promised him a dance. It wasn’t like she knew his name. It wasn’t like — oh, would you look at that! She’d only tripped on his foot thrice thus far. She was getting better at this! However slow it might have been! Oh, what was she saying; she was going at a turtle’s pace, or slower. If that were possible. A snail’s pace, maybe?
They finished what was more than likely to be one of the dullest, most boring routines in the history of waltz. But it did still count as a waltz, and that was more than enough for her! Himari curtsied at the end, and let go of the stranger’s hands to take a step back and bow. “Thank you for dancing with me, Stranger-chan! Sorry for stepping on your toes!”
Upon entering the academy, there was one facility that Mary had eagerly awaited; she desired this single building over the entire establishment with a full heart. The library. It overflowed with comfort, peace, and most importantly — books! Hardbound, paperback, thin, thick; any and all were bound with word upon word printed and shelved for her viewing. A red string of fate connected her here, since her own personal library at home was nothing compared to this!
At a loss for words, the petite girl entered the structure without her usual skittish self (… mostly). There was so much to learn, so much to read, so much everything - at no price! An over-sized chair nestled in the nonfiction section (more specifically, animals) called to her, she too, called back. Body met chair; the two beings seemed to morph into one as well-read fingers furiously flipped through the stack of novels she had chosen at random.
Peeping over a rather lengthy spiel on mammals in the tundra, crimson eyes met the back of a sheen, glossy auburn head; one of which had a sketchbook in tow. Ah… was she in Drawing as well? The medusa had no way of knowing, simply by mere looks, but daring to interact with a fellow student… oh, the thought was a bit too much! Much to her dismay, the influx of nerve-wracking thoughts caused her hands to slip, the carefully stacked books in her lap tumbled out at once; a not-so-quite noise echoed throughout the area… not again!
She yawned. The library had a way of making you sleepy, even if you loved it. Himari loved the library, probably more than she should. Probably more than she had the right to. But it was a quiet, tired place, and sometimes she was tired and quiet. Well, to be honest, she was almost always quiet, in that strange, Himari-way of hers... but her body often took from her the simple pleasure of strolling about the school, something so many other students could enjoy without worry.
It wasn't much of an issue to her as it should have been. The ginger was used to lounging around in the same hundred-or-so square feet. This academy was much, much larger than a hundred-or-so square feet. It was, in a word, nice. She had hiked up to the library with every ounce of her being because she thought it would have been... nice, too.
She had homework to complete for her art class, after all! Not to mention that she had hoped, on the way here, to find a nice new series to peruse at her very own pace (that of a turtle). She was a slow reader... that was true, and she would never deny it. She was slow at a lot of things. Conversations, talking, reading, walking, being punctual... she had no sense of time, because for almost four years she hadn't needed one.
Himari had done everything at her own pace, right until the present, and it showed in her day-to-day activities and actions. Like basic speech -- she needed to run over her lines more than a few times, and pick them apart in her mind to make sure they were okay. To make sure she addressed everything she wanted to address. It was tiring, but she didn't mind!
A simple armchair sat, lonely in a corner all its own. It was enticing, and while Himari was by no means an antisocial person, she thought this chair needed a friend. She would be its friend, if only for an hour or two... or... four. Five, tops. Six at the most.
Sort of in a reverie of her own making, the dreamy girl didn't notice that someone had toppled over quite a few books near her. Not at first. The sound did register with her a few moment after, and after leaving a small "oh!" to the air, she swiftly turned around on one heel, her sketchbook tucked safely under an arm.
The girl traced a lock of her hair, and gently gathered it behind her ear. Sporting a warm, soft smile, Himari knelt and collected a few of the novels herself, all for helping strangers. "Don't fret!" she whispered, leaning her head to the side. "I hope it's okay that I'm helping!"
Penguin… Penguin… Ah, yes! She had been reading about those creatures in the library the other day; there were small, bird creatures that live in really cold climates… And coincidentally, they were also extremely cute, or at least, Terra thinks so. So, this penguin named ‘Threetie’, is an invisible penguin? How curious! She does wonder how on earth it became invisible, but she’s going to chalk it up to being either a stringer variant of the Vanish spell she’s so familiar with or Threetie being some sort of spirit that watches over Himari…
Thinking about it now, however, Terra realizes the two may have more in common than she initially thought. Threetie helped Himari through a rough time… Just like her own group of moogles helped Terra herself through her hellish time in the military. She wonders now what sort of trials and tribulations Himari has been through in her time, but she guesses it must have been because of her aforementioned illness and visits to the hospitals.
So even with all their differences, there were still similarities there and in a way, it relieved the esperkin. Perhaps in some small way, shape or form, it gave her a certain degree of comfort to know that someone as bizarre and out there as she could find similarities with an ordinary person. In fact, she thinks that maybe instead of focusing on the differences that focusing on the similarities would bring her more feelings of contentment…
But such a thing would, like all things, require time.
"Well… Alright, then. If you really don’t mind, I could use some help in math," she starts, rubbing her arm a little bit and looking off the the side before continuing. “I wasn’t really taught a lot about it when I was little so a lot of the concepts are hard for me to understand… So I hope you’ll be patient with me… Even if it takes a while for me to understand most of its concepts…”
"But… I’m glad I came to the cafeteria today," and with that, she looks back to Himari, offering a small but genuine smile. There’s something warm about it that makes her seem just a little more inviting and less intimidating than how she would initially seem. One could also tell that perhaps this type of smile from this type of person is rare; not one that she would offer to others very often.
Ordinary person? Ordinary person? Himari was the very epitome of "ordinary person"! She would have flat-out denied the title, if she knew any different. But she was pretty normal, all things considered. Except the whole dying part. That remains up for debate.
Himari Takakura was rather content with being an ordinary person, come to think of it. She liked being typical, if a little flighty. If she was exposed to the outside world enough, she thought she might even start getting normal-people-problems, and normal-people-ideas.
...Who was she kidding? She was anything but normal. She had died, for crying out loud! Not that she really wanted that to get out, but... it was true nonetheless. She had died and come back and died again, and that was not normal. It was the exact opposite of "normal". Whatever normal was. She didn't think the world could really have definite definition of the word, anyways.
It was too broad. People didn't just fit into categories. They were individuals! They thought and felt and did things. They weren't just things someone else could write off as "ordinary". Nothing was ordinary! At least, not to the girl.
"I definitely would not mind!" the ginger squeaked happily, her eyes brightening at the prospect that Terra didn't mind her company! Wow, wow wow wow wow wow! That meant Terra liked her! That was great! Wow! "That's okay! I'm really slow so I know what you mean!"
She wanted to hug her again. Oh dear. Himari played with her hands for a few seconds to try and get rid of the urge, but this time... it stayed around, like a lost puppy. She liked puppies. Puppies were cute. Himari liked cute things. Oh, oh! She probably mentioned that already. "C-Can I, um, can I hug you?" she asked, because she didn't know whether or not it was okay. And if Terra was okay with hugging strangers.
Or friends. They were friends now, weren't they? They were even going to go to each others' homes and dorm rooms! They were definitely friends, Himari decided. "I'm really glad you came to the cafeteria too, Terra!"
The other girl was giving her a rather sweet smile, and it was one Himari returned. The ginger thought it was something rare -- such a cute smile. But that was impossible. Terra was cute. Adorable, even! It was warm and inviting and the girl liked it. She wanted her to continue smiling, regardless of whether or not it was something the other girl liked to do. It made Himari happy on the inside, like lost puppies and tiny penguins.
Pig: Do you feel more comfortable with friends or without them? Why?
"It depends on the situation!" she squeaked confidently. The ginger nodded to herself, going over her mental answer — yes, yes! That should work! It sounded fine. "Most of the time, friends are really really great! I love talking to friends!"
"Sometimes, though, it’s better to be left alone." She was referring to her days in the hospital, where her mood was akin to that of a volatile teenager. One day she was walking on clouds, but the next? Down in the dumps! "I mean, I wouldn’t want to yell at anyone accidentally or anything like that! So if I’m feeling mad, I would be uncomfortable around my friends!"
Fish: To what lengths would you go to help a friend?
She brought a hand to her chin, and looked towards a corner in the room, trying to formulate her answer. The thoughts and general idea were there, it was just… hard to get it going. “Um,” she began, nodding to herself, “I would do anything!”
Now, that wasn’t to say she would murder or anything like that. “I wouldn’t want to hurt anyone, though! B-But anything else goes, I suppose!”
Cheerfulness was always much appreciated with Sayaka. It always made her day to make somebody else’s day a whole lot better than it was going, though she was sure this girl’s day had gotten a whole lot better just by seeing her. Sayaka now took the seat across from the other and gave a small laugh. Yes. She was Sayaka Maizono. There was no other that she knew of.
Gosh, it’s been a long time since she’s someone this excited to be in her presence. It almost makes her feel god-like in a way. People back in Japan worshipped her and she was even the title of Super High School Level Idol to top it all off. While she was proud of that, she could never shake the feeling that nobody knew what it was really like in the idol business. It’s not all fun and games and a good majority of people don’t even know what goes on behind the scene when the curtain falls back down.
It’s not like she doesn’t appreciate the attention or her fans, because she does. She wouldn’t be anyone without her fans. Her career would shrivel up into dust if they were to get tired of her. She’s very well aware of this, so she takes great care to treat each and every one of them nicely. However, unlike most idols this isn’t an act for her. Sayaka has always been a genuinely nice person. She loves interacting with people and getting to know them. This ginger-haired girl was no exception.
Blue eyes now scanned the other’s appearance. How endearing she looked. Big eyes, ginger hair and though her forehead was a bit big, it was cute. She almost reminded Sayaka of herself for a moment.
Now getting back to wait the other had said. "Mhm. I am Sayaka Maizono." with a simple nod of her head she continued "It’s very nice to meet you." and with that came another smile and tilt of the head. "I really love meeting fans of my music though I hope I don’t prove to be a disappointment in person.."
"I’m very glad you enjoy my music, really! It brings me more joy than you could ever imagine. My fans are my everything." Chin now in her hands as she leaned forward. "But enough about me since that’s something we both know a lot about, let’s start with you. What’s your name?"
Oh! Oh! She was going to talk to her! Himari was excited -- more excited than she should have been. She got excited a lot, and not even over things she was supposed to be excited over. Well... those too, but also little things. Like talking to a stranger, or helping someone out. Living life! Life was extraordinary. She liked living it. She also liked when other people lived, too. Death was sad.
She would know. Or something.
The ginger had no idea what being an idol entailed -- from her rather unique vantage point, though, it seemed to be a double-edged blade. On one hand, singers had fame and fortune. They could do whatever they wished with their lives, and there would be people there to back them up and support them! That must have been an astounding feeling, to know that whatever path you chose in life, it would be okay. People would still love you and lend you their aid.
On the flip side, though, being an idol was lonely... at least, that was what she garnered from her small chats and brief letters with Hikari and Hibari. They often told her it was hard to just get a moment of peace, but when they did, it was hard to bask in it. Because there was always something stressful around the corner. They never elaborated, so Himari could only guess at what her friends could possibly mean.
So she had knitted them scarves, partly because she was worried that they weren't having fun anymore and partly because she had nothing else to do, because, well. She was sick. She had died. It wasn't all that bad, though! She wasn't even conscious for most of it. The ginger knew that when she did tell people that part, they looked at her differently -- she was the girl who lived and died, over and over again. She was different, she was fragile, she was frail, she needed to be treated with care.
She didn't need to be treated with care. She did not. She was in extraordinary health. Or at least, she would have liked to be. The girl was still a bit... off, for lack of a better-fitting term, but she was okay, she was fine. She didn't need any coddling. So she usually sort of strayed from the fact she had died.
It wasn't much of a story to begin with!
Back to Sayaka. Yes, the idol was really and truly sitting down to talk to her. It was sweet and endearing and made Himari like her a little more than she did already. In the back of her mind, however, she couldn't help but think -- did she just do things like this to keep up appearances? Was she really just... tired, on the inside? Himari didn't want to be any sort of burden or anything to the blue-haired wonder! Even if she did like her a lot and want to talk to her!
Opening her mouth to say something to that effect, Himari was cut off. That was okay! She beamed at the diva, enchanted -- her voice really was cute. And soothing. She wondered for a moment if the girl tamed it to be like that, or if was simply natural. She knew singers took singing lessons! That was true, right?
"It's nice to meet you too! I'm Himari Takakura!" She tacked on a toothy grin to the end of her statement, genuine and... simple. Like her. "Why would you think you're a disappointment?"
The ginger was quite confused. Nobody was a disappointment. Everyone was someone, and certain someones were different from other certain someones. That was just how humanity rolled. She thought that idea was commonplace!
She could sense that... Sayaka was telling the truth. At least, about what she thought of her fans. It was cute. Himari liked cute things. Did she mention that already? Threetie was sort of waddling around her feet, tracing circles with a flipper. That was cute, too. Himari made a mental note to feed her penguin companion something nice when they got back to her room.
Something... about herself? She didn't know what to say, or where to begin. Or anything. She was an ordinary, boring person! T-That wasn't to say she wasn't important. Everyone was important. At least, everyone was important to her, even people she hadn't met yet -- and Himari was dead-set on the concept that, if someone was important to at least one other someone, they were important period. It didn't matter how many other someones liked that particular someone after that. It just mattered that there had been someone to... think that someone important enough. Just one person.
"Oh, oh, um! I!" she attempted to describe herself, but she just ended up utilizing her vast arsenal of. You guessed it -- filler words. "I'm not very exciting, but what do you want to know?" she finally asked, swaying to her sides.
Energy was his middle name, almost literally. There was some sort of unspoken rule about having to match your names too, right? Since people’s personalities either harmonised with their name, or broke the rule and left them to carry around some weird thing like a hangnail (painful, annoying, getting caught on everything). Len didn’t want people to look at him and think he was one of those poor unfortunate souls lugging dead weight about. It would have been a let down to the whole world if he didn’t bolt around the school from place to place in his time off, it would be a disgrace!
Of course, his endless abundance of vitality often lead him to tripping over his own two feet. And other’s feet. And rocks. And sometimes bugs on the ground— not that they were strong enough to bring him down, but he was somehow able to spot them and stumble trying to step over them. He was not an bug-murderer, and never will be. That being said, piled on clumsiness over the years quickly brought the blonde to the safe decision of investing in a medical kit to carry around wherever. In his backpack or school desk or locker he would let the bigger box of band-aids and antiseptics and wrap rest, while carrying a small sack in his pockets that had all the same stuff just in a lesser amount.
Rocking a bit on his heels at his pause, he took a look down the corridors to either side of him. He didn’t really know which way to go to get back to his dorm. It was funny, for lack of a better word, but this whole place was just gigantic. There was no possible way Len could’a memorised the labyrinth in the short time he’d been here.
Oh! Jumping a little at the voice, he turned his head to stare at the person peeping over his shoulder that just approached him. Soft orange-brown hair and faire skin, a face that was truly remarkable. She was pretty.
"A band-aid?" Seeming to skirt over the semantics of the conversation in favour of the important part. Here, Len would play nurse. Balling his hands into fists, he whipped around to face the other, determination set onto his features in concrete. A band-aid! He could do that, he has a pouch full of the little guys with him and then some. "For a paper cut? Awe man, those hurt the worst. You’re lucky ta have caught me, miss, I could probably win ‘n award for havin’ the most medical supplies in school!"
Reaching into his pocket, he pulls out his little emergency pouch. It’s blue and littered with stars everywhere, some apart of the design and some stickers he stuck about randomly. At this point it looked ridiculous, like it belonged to a child back in primary grades. Unzipping it, the lad extracted a small tube of travel-size antiseptic cream and one reasonable sized band-aid. He handed them both over to the girl, only expecting the cream back in the transaction.
Oops, he almost forgot. “And my name’s Len. I hope your finger is okay.”
Now that she had gotten closer to him, Himari noticed he had a... bandage on his nose. She was worried! She hoped he was okay! The ginger tucked a few loose strands of her hair behind her ear, and swayed from side to side, bringing her hands behind her back. He didn't seem totally off-put by her forwardness, which was great! She hoped he was just as friendly as he seemed!
Well, at all was stretching it. She left to buy groceries and things! Just... nowhere else. She was supposed to be healing, in that house of hers. All by herself. It had been kind of lonely, now that she had some time to reflect: the only person she could really converse with was Ringo. Threetie did make some squeaks and squeals at her, but for the most part the penguin couldn't talk. Himari spoke to her anyways.
That was just sort of the way the ginger rolled. Talking to penguins and what-not. It was cool. Right? Yeah. It was definitely cool.
"Oh, really?" Lucky? She could have described herself with quite a few words, but lucky... was not one of them. Nevertheless, she smiled brightly at him and theatrically extended her arm out, bouncing on the balls of her feet. "That's great! -- That you have medical supplies, not... that you have medical supplies?"
What was she trying to get at again? Himari retraced her thoughts and words, trying to figure it out. She had a point to make. She just sort of... forgot it, somewhere along the line. "Oh! Right! It's great that you can help me! It's not great that you have band-aids! Because that means you get hurt a lot! That's not good at all!"
Nailed it.
The blonde handed to her what she took as a... tube of some weird medicine-y stuff and also a band-aid. He had removed them from a cute little star-clad bag; it was cute, did she mention that? Well, it was extra cute. She wanted to tell him so, but she also thought she should probably get to dressing her little wound.
Himari sort of sucked at her cut -- because she refused to use any sort of cream -- because they sort of reminded her a little bit kinda of her time being sick and she didn't want to be reminded sort of a little bit kinda of her time being sick -- and she promptly removed the bandage from its wrapping, and stuck it right on there. Like a professional. She was pretty much a professional! She'd tripped on air and cut herself with paper more times than she could count.
Oh! Oh! He was telling her his name! His name was Len! "That's a nice name! It's really simple and nice!" She hadn't quite meant for that to come out in words, but now it hung out in the open, like laundry in the spring. Or the summer. She never really got that expression. Was it an expression at all? -- Right, right! She still had to thank him! "Thank you! I hope your nose heals too, Len!"
The girl stared at her finger in delight; the band-aid was, in a word, adorable. It was blue, like his bag, and it had little yellow stars littered across it. She liked stars. She liked them a lot. She was about to just drop all notion of not-being-weird-and-inconsiderate and just look for constellations or some sort of pattern, but then she remembered: that wasn't very nice! "I like stars!" she blurted out, without thinking -- as much of her statements seem to come out. Her thoughts usually rolled off her tongue, without asking her brain for permission.

hi hi!! yesterday and a bit of the day before my power was out, so if you're expecting replies -- please be patient!! i have a lot to go through! t-this applies to oreki as well!
She felt positively exhilarated today! She was totally ready to do anything! Himari kept this in mind as she almost tripped down the stairs on her way to the library, where she thought she might find something interesting to read.
She also kept it in mind when she suddenly cut her finger. It was a paper cut, no big deal! She even had cute kitten bandages to... oh. She'd left them in her room.
The ginger felt her smile fading, like the sun at dusk -- or at least, she'd like to believe she could frown as easily as that. Himari braced her hands on her hips and twirled around, her index finger stinging as she searched for someone to help! As it turned out, however, nobody seemed to want to walk to this library from her block this time of day. Or maybe they were already there and she was missing the party -- she didn't want to miss a party! She'd never been to a party, ever, though she'd always wondered what they were like.
The ginger yawned a great big yawn, and tried not to think too hard about most anything. Oh, but she did want someone to come along and help her out of this bind!
...Wait, hey, wait! Someone was coming! Someone with... yellow hair and a bit too much energy! The girl waddled over to him like a stray dog, and smiled her friendliest smile. "Sorry to bother you!" she started, peeking over his shoulder without a worry in the world (other than the fact that she needed a band-aid).
"But, um, do you have any band-aids or anything I could borrow? I got a paper cut, you see! My name is Himari, it's nice to meet you!"
Today seemed like the type of day where you just don’t stay cooped up in your dorm room. Not that she was one to do that anyway. Sayaka always found ways to entertain herself through out the day which included: pestering Jean (although it’s not really pestering when you look at it..she just likes to get him flustered), doing her homework or just having a casual chat with a stranger. Making new friends on the campus was always welcomed with her in fact, she made it a goal to be able to befriend as many people as possible and though she had failed with one that wouldn’t deter her determination! So what is Sayaka Maizono going to do today? Walk around the campus of course.
Hopping out of bed, she took care to write a small note for her dorm mate who was still sleeping before sliding out of the door. What a nice day it was. The birds are chirping, the grass is green, the sky is blue. She hadn’t experienced anything like this in quite a long time. You give up most of your freedom as an idol so it was a nice change of pace to enjoy the simple things in life and take things as they come.
Just as she passed the cafe she stopped mid-stride. There’s something off—!! Now she knows what it is. Quickly turning her head to the side, she sees a pair of eyes on her. Seems like the girl looked eager judging by that smile on her face. Sayaka smiled and waved in return while making direct eye contact and started to walk over in the girl’s direction.
When she entered the cafe, she was quick about finding her. Their eyes met as Sayaka pointed to the chair across the table from her. "It’s a nice day today, don’t you think?" she paused before continuing. "Mind if I go ahead and take this seat?"
She was sort of basking in the sun's rays, just lounging around and stalking -- was that the right kind of word? It had negative connotations, didn't it? Would "looking" be better? Or "watching"? No, she'd just go with "stalking". Himari had made up her mind. She was stalking Sayaka Maizono and that was that!
Oh, oh, she's walking over here -- oh, what should she do? Himari couldn't help but widen her grin, impeccably excited, astoundingly enthusiastic. Meeting new people was always a fun experience, but when that new person turned out to be someone you sort of looked up to..! That was definitely different! She wished she knew a more suitable synonym for different! She also wished she was taller!
The girl smiles and waves back, shaking her head. "It's an absolutely wonderful day!" she answers, her voice practically a high-pitched chirp. Not that it was usually anything else, but today it was a bit more jolted than it typically was. Maybe that was, maybe, because, maybe she was nervous a little bit not at all because, because..! Her idol attended the same school as her!
Wow! Wow wow wow! B-But Himari understood that Maizono probably got that a lot. She didn't want to seem like a dumb fan, or anything -- even though that was pretty much what she was. It would take a stranger all of one minute to deduce that the ginger was a huge, huge, huge Double-H fan if they were to just look at her side of the room: there were posters hanging everywhere, and merchandise littering what little shelf room she had available. Not to mention that, well, the members of the pop sensation and herself were childhood friends.
She goes over her thoughts again and again, unsure of how to word her admiration! She really admired tough, strong people like Miss Maizono here! She held so much adulation for the girl that she felt it might burst right out of her.
"Um! You're Sayaka Maizono!" she blurted out, a blush immediately gracing her cheeks. Oh well, might as well just continue -- she only lived once, after all! "I like your music! I hope that is okay!"
To Terra, being normal meant… Well, being fully human, having a nice childhood and not having to save the world from the clutches of an evil harlequin. Of course, she realizes it’s not too uncommon for people to have tragic or upsetting pasts, but she still yearns for some kind of ‘normalcy’ in her life… She’s not ashamed of her heritage contrary to what some may think, but she just fears that it will prevent her from being fully accepted by others and that she’s merely a tool for everyone’s personal gain; even the world itself.
Not only that, but she wants to be loved and she wants to know what it’s like to love. Perhaps if she could wish for any one thing, it would definitely be to have some form of love in her life. It would make her feel like she’s human, despite her heritage or how she may act at times. Her attention snaps back up to Himari, though, as the mysterious invisible ‘thing’ is called out to by her and supposedly, made its way back over to their table.
"Say Himari… What exactly are you calling out to? Is it… Some sort of spirit?" it’s definitely not an Esper. She could sense magic and Espers themselves to a degree, so it couldn’t be that… Right? "Or is it just invisible…?" she asks, making an interval conversation before it goes back to the subject at hand. The mere mention of animals makes her face brighten up immediately, a surprisingly happy smile appearing on her features.
"But yes I… I like them a lot, too! Especially moogles…" ah yes, moogles. She thinks if she feels anything close to ‘love’ that isn’t romantic, it’s for moogles. A group pf moogles came and saw her frequently during her younger years in the military and it really kept her sane from in between her breaks from the Slave Crown… She supposes, in a way, they were her first friends. “Like Mog and Mogmi and Moglin—” she cuts herself off now at the notion of Himari helping Terra with her homework.
She… Wants to help her? Why? What’s there to gain for Himari? Or is she truly like Terra in that sense that she just wants to help people…? Well, after conversing with the other female for a bit, it seems that way. She wants to believe her, almost desperately so; Himari seems genuinely honest and kind… Something that catches Terra off guard but definitely isn’t unwelcome. Looking a little reluctant now, Terra looks to the right for a moment before her dull blue hues glance back over at her companion.
"You… Really want to help me?" she can’t hep but ask, almost wanting her worries to be out right denied by the other aloud. "If you… Really want to, I wouldn’t mind it, so long as you don’t mind that I’m not very good at math… It’s hard to understand sometimes," she admits, her tone sounding rather quiet and a little modest.
Himari wasn't one so keen so that she could guess at someone's thoughts, especially a stranger's, but she couldn't help but wonder what could possibly be going through Terra's mind at the moment. She seemed to have some qualms about her own inherent normalcy, and the word "love" that the ginger didn't understand at all. Love was love. It was, aptly put, a strong, uncontrollable emotion you felt for someone else, be it romantic or platonic or familial or anything beyond. It was complex and yet not at all. Love was love.
"Oh, oh, right! You can't see her!" Himari gives a gentle squeeze to the penguin now safely back in her arms, and rubs her cheek against the bird's, rather affectionately. "This is Threetie, she's a penguin! She had a cute little pink bow as well! On her head! Nobody else can see her, though, but I'm positive she exists! Because she helped me through a rough time, didn't you, Threetie?"
The penguin just sort of stares at her, and she beams back. Like she always did. The bird never actually spoke -- Himari was sure that Threetie wasn't really capable of human speech -- but she did gesture and squeak and do all sorts of little things that the ginger had learned to pick up on, and even understand, to an extent. It was like a language they shared. "I guess you could say she's invisible then, yep yep!"
She says it casually, as if it's some day-to-day, normal occurrence. Because it is, to her; again with the many different versions of normalcy there are. She seemed to keep circling back to that one idea recently. The girl clenched her eyes shut for a moment and blinked them back open, that ever-present, brilliant smile shining bright.
Terra obviously likes animals. That's enough for Himari to like her. Animals were amazing. Animals were... quiet souls, souls that didn't need a morality code. They just were morally good. While she didn't have much of a conventional definition for the word "good" either, she did agree with most of society on what "morally good" meant.
Animals were precious to her. But she mustn't go off on another meaningless tangent! Moogles... she didn't know what those were. Were they fluffy? Cute? She hoped they were cute. Himari liked cute things. Had she mentioned that? She'd mention it again, because cute things were important to her. As strange and insignificant as that might have sounded to a different ear.
"What are moo --" she's about to ask, but then she's sort of cut off by Terra's inquiry, almost a plea of sorts. Her new friend was asking her to confirm her intentions... that was easy enough! "I definitely want to help you! T-That is, if you don't mind, of course! And if you want my help! I don't have much else to do with my time, you see!"
"Math can be difficult, but once you understand the concepts behind it, it's as simple as one-two-three!" One, two... three...tie. Hm. She could have sworn there were two important parts of her life ripped from her memory, but she couldn't recall what they were; they were like phantom memories, festering in the corner of her mind.
She gives Threetie another squeeze and continues smiling, glad that Terra's feeling a little more comfortable around her. She didn't want to seem overbearing, or annoying, or anything! She wanted everyone to get along! She wanted everyone to be comfortable around her, her new friend Terra included!
