When I was a kid, I was really enamored a handful of local radio stations--the DJs were hilarious and really nice and would play songs for you, but my favorite thing was this thing one of them did called the 5:20 Primal Scream.
Every day at 5:20 he would take a random caller and let them shriek their head off on the air. No opinions or venting or anything like that, just wordless screaming. Often these were people in traffic or just getting off work. And you got some really adorable people being all "YRAERGH" and then giggling and feeling better after
And I remember one guy who just went "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" for like half a minute and the DJ was like "holy crap you're like some kind of tornado siren". I think about that guy sometimes.
And I think about that DJ. I hope he's doing okay.

I laughed suddenly and loudly in my cubicle at work.
It's probably a good idea to make sure your playlist of old shows actualy plays the OLD SHOWS, so that you don't wake in a frenzied panic, convinced you're dying and not knowing what was true and what was a frenzied influence by your subconscious mind processing latent fears.
I haven't had a dream about school in decades, followers.

thanos, that knife won’t protect you from antman
WELCOME TO NIGHT VALE
Hold up lemme make sure the car is locked!
There is, somewhere deep below the earth
A small man with brilliant eyes
A bright smile
A face masked by winged things
And a voice that doesn’t work
Anymore.
He is tired, and weary
Resting his soul from the heavy price
That comes with Knowledge,
Among other things.
And he aches to be somehow else
And pines for a different lot.
It will not be long until he walks again
Wounds scarred over with thick, twisting ropes
Like pastel tattoos that mirror my own
Not that I would know much
Of what mirrors look like.
And farther away, there is another man
With three children, and a loving partner
In the most platonic of senses
His comfortable cover case
And he has my eyes.
The three of us long and wait for
A day where we can deny
Pretend our circumstances are different
When we can imagine we see the lights
Twisting above a red neon sign.
We miss Home
Our quaint little patch of desert
That is anything but usual
Out of all of the others
I think we homesick the most.
Dear listeners, I want to help them both
But I don’t have the power
Nothing to do or change anyway
So I will live with my power of denial
That’s saved us a time before.
I speak into existence sand under my heel
Believe that it gets so cold and night
In the absence of a blazing sun
Feel the familiar squeak of my swivel chair
And thinning carpet under my shoes.
I speak forbiddenness over the patch of dirt
Where the dogs here romp and play
And imagine the helicopters painted black
And I believe every word
And for a moment I am home.
Nothing against this current place
With it’s spacious rooms and raucous storms
And most of all, family I’ve always wanted
But never felt I deserved
Because it is home, now
But I believe all long for the place
That they feel most connected to
Once they find it.
Our budding towns likely mayor
Also knows my plight
I pray to gods above to bring us peace
But maybe I will get my wish
Small little comforts I am afforded
To my unique situation.
This little guy, sitting tall,
on the fourth step from the ground
Looks so much like my little guy
With fewer spines, shorter claws
And less tail.
He belongs here. And so do I.
Among family, among friends
Among a place we’ve never been
But feel so comfortable in.
It isn’t my old home, but it will do.
Because at night, when I bid you goodnight
And his purring becomes a sweet lullaby,
Between the blinds I see
Above us the exact same sky.
Mostly void, partially stars.
I remember the young man’s plight
And see him smile as he remembers
His partner, with a perfect smile,
And loving eyes, a kind heart
Who went they met, he fell in love instantly.
And the other man, while he still stands
Behind locked doors in his heart
Is happy with his family on the inside
And may soon stretch his limbs
Because he knows the key is around his neck.
And I remember my plight.
With a man I love under the moonlight
On our few and far between days
Since childhood, some version has been beside.
And I think, I am home.
I am home.
Because while Night VaIe is a place
It is also a feeling.
A feeling I carry in my hearts deepest pit
And now I know this.
So from my Home to my Home
From Night VaIe to Now,
I bid you goodnight, my friends
Goodnight
For I sleep with the moon,
as the sun climbs, I rest
At least today
And so again, Goodnight
May I see you again soon.
