God Eva Stratt the character that you are. The personification of doing what you have to do even when you don't want to, of guilt, so much guilt but never regret. The epitome of "i will become the villain, I will be hated for what I will do, the choices I will make are awful and I will carry that guilt for the rest of my life but I will not hesitate because I know what needs to be done and I will not do nothing" I love her. Telling people to lay down their lives to save earth was an easy choice, it wasn't pleasant but it was easy, but asking that of the closest thing you have to a friend, knowing he will refuse and knowing you cannot give him a choice because the world depends on it, that is hard but no less of a nessecity. You know it would be easier to drug him in his sleep, more efficient to get him on that ship without giving him a chance of protest, but that isn't what you do. You know you have to kill him but you feel you owe it to him to look him in the eye when you pull the trigger, and for some irrational emotional reason you feel you have to explain yourself to him for your own peace of mind, even knowing this will haunt you either way. Eva Stratt cared about Ryland Grace more than we see her care about any other character. In the movie you could hear in in her voice when she says "sit down and we do it differently" in all other scenarios she's content to be seen as a villain because she knows someone has to be the scapegoat, but she's visibly trying not to cry at the thought that Grace thinks shes betraying him. She's so very human and I will be thinking about her until the day that I die.

Went to see project hail mary with my mom. We both loved it and she said it's one of the best movies she's ever seen. Then we got home and two baby racoons fell from my ceiling. If all goes well their mother will find where we put them outside and take her family somewhere other than my attic. I felt compelled to name them.

Psa to all my oomfs this gardening season that foxglove is poisonous!

You aren't supposed to handle it without gloves buuuuut if you do you'll be fine just don't like roll around in it. That's like rubbing heart medicine all over your skin. You're fine if you just touch it a little just don't rub your eyes and remember to wash your hands. It's a comon flower in stores so if you're flower shopping you'll likely see it. The girlies in the garden center had a bit of a freak out about it and I was reminded that poisonous plants aren't common knowledge.

My Cat Needs Surgery!

My 8yo rescue cat Shadow recently developed a large lump on his leg. We saw the vet yesterday and the surgeon is rather optimistic about being able to cut it away. His blood work came back clean so we're in the clear to schedule. I'm waiting for the techs to get back to me about the estimate.

Unfortunately I'm a poor, disabled self-employed worker and surgeries like these range from 500USD to +3k USD. I do not make a lot. Surgery reaching/surpassing 3k is close to my 2025 profits — that's how little I make given my business expenses and my limitations.

No, your oc isn't too cringe or a Mary sue. Yes, it's completely fine that it looks similar to your other ocs. Yes it's completely fine that it looks similar to a Canon character design. No it's not uncreative. No the design isn't shitty. No the backstory doesn't have to make perfect sense or be all figured out. Yes it can be self indulgent or unrealistic or overly sappy. No you don't draw your favorite character too much. Yes you can flip flop between developing whatever characters you want. No you don't have to keep the parts of your character that you don't like or that make you uncomfortable just for the sake of consistency, realism or whatever else

I've seen some discussion about sparkle hsr having dissociative identity disorder and I really can't say I know enough about the condition or particularly care about the character enough to argue. But I will say if you're looking for DID representation in honkai star rail, one Welt J. Yang has been there from day one and would be a good example of not vilifying individuals with disorders since hes been a protagonist in both hsr and hi3 and has never been portrayed as "crazy".

The guy hasn't gone by his legal name since he was 8 because an 8 year old can not deal with the stuff he had to deal with so he took the name of his older brother figure/hero (whom he watched bleed to death right in front of him btw) and used his idea of the man as the backbone for his entire moral compass and ideology for the majority of his life.

Guy that threatened acheron and Sunday in penacony? Thats welt. The guy who misplaced his glasses on his own face? Joachim. Welt knows he's got super human vision and doesn't actually need the glasses, in fact assuming they're genuine glasses as implied during hi3, he'd see worse with them on. Joachim doesn't know this, but does know he wears glasses, and that his vision is supposed to be good, so he assumes he must not have them on if his vision isn't great. Even if the glasses are fake, welt is much more guarded and committed to appearing as human as possible and isn't particularly forgetful either, plus he could just make another pair with his powers instead of asking the crew. Joachim is more open and more likely to forget about his powers and the fact that he's not human since he isn't the one that had to deal with those things the most, that's what welt was for. You can even see it in the comics too, especially alien space where you get to see him act more in a way that lines up with Joachim.

This is bat friendly street lighting, which not only looks sick as fuck but allows bats to pass through without disturbance, as they cannot see red.

orange and especially white lights deter bats and prevent them from reaching feeding grounds at nighttime. Please if you can, write to your local council and encourage red street lights!!!!

It's also not just bats! Many nocturnal animals cannot see/are not disturbed by red light. So even if you don't particularly care about bats or live in an area without a native bat population this is still relevant to you!

Migraine haver and former lizard owner, can confirm that red light provides sufficient visibility but doesn't induce agony 9000 and wildlife (example: my gecko) displayed typical nighttime behavior for her species (enjoying her enclosure as a nocturnal species). I could have her tank in my room and not have any problems sleeping (related to the light). My cousin actually put up a red light strip in her room to replace a nightlight after staying over cause. So if you're scared of the dark and have trouble sleeping without a light consider red bulb like lizard, heat optional.

Pre-menstrual depression is always depicted as like "He He! I had a box of icecream bars and cried while watching the Titanic!" But in reality, it's more like, "I'm standing the edge of an abyss. There is nothing good inside of me, I'm filled with rage and desperation."

It's crazy that being told how to deal with that is never a part of anyone's menstrual sex education.

I went to my doctor after I was walking to work one morning and saw a bus coming and actually took a step to throw myself in front of it before I pulled myself together. Later that day I started bleeding and was literally like someone flipped a switch and I didn't feel suicidal anymore. Which made me feel like I was loosing my mind because who goes from 'I want to throw myself in front of a bus' to 'I'm perfectly fine' just like that? I did some research, I went to the doctor and described my feelings, he looked me in the eye and gently asked what I thought it was, I said I'd read about PMDD and I thought it might be that, he said 'I think so too' and wrote a prescription.

If, before you get your period, you feel furiously angry, suicidal, irritated by every tiny thing to the point you want to murder someone, stuck in a black hole you'll never escape from. If you are experiencing extreme emotions for what seems like no good reason, especially if you get your period and those extreme emotions just go away. You're probably not just PMSing , you may have PMS's feral big sister PMDD and it's treatable.

Also this is something that can develop as you get older. So if you used to get normal PMS but what I wrote above sounds more like your norm now then don't just write it off as regular PMS.
