Once and for all: If women need to get into a sober state of mind to realize that what has happened was not in accordance with their will, then that, in fact, speaks for having had their boundaries being violated. No buts and ifs.

If "not feeling like a 'slut'" (I only adress what I have heard in this context) was one of the reasons, then it was one of the ones to not having had her boundaries being violated, i.e. not have sex. It DOES NOT diminish the impact or severity of the violation. It doesn't matter what reason a woman has to reject sex.

If a woman needs the sober state of mind to realize that what has happened to her was not in accordance with her will, then it only speaks for her not having been in the state of mind to being able to judge whether the actions were in accodrance with her will or not. Any step away from the sober state of mind would speak for impaired judgement.

BDD is a mental illness, not a physical illness. Altering your body to soothe your mind is ludicrous, and no one should be surprised that it doesn’t work for most people. If your mind is the source of your symptoms, that’s what needs to be treated.

Overcoming and recovering from disordered thinking is extremely difficult, and certainly a lot harder than having surgery, but it actually gets to the root of the problem. There are an awful lot of people who regret transitioning, but I’ve never heard of anyone who regretted getting help to manage their mental illness.

You’re right, it’s not a fair comparison. I worked on that farm and I would rather be a sex worker than pick berries. How is that class privilege going for you?

Doesn't mean every woman would rather be a sex worker. You know, I'd rather not be, I suppose, because it's triggering to me as a rape survivor. Which is the reason why political analysis based on individuals doesn't make much sense.

It's not just about what pays off more or whatever other reason you had in mind. Those are fundamentally different tasks. It simply doesn't make sense to compare picking berries, however difficult and exhausting it might be, to performing sex acts. I didn't necessarily try to imply that picking berries is better, but that it's like comparing apples to oranges.

I am so fucking sick of people using the fact that someone born in a male of female body, who fits into the role/stereotype of the opposite sex, then they must be the opposite sex. That is the proof they use, that is the facts they give. 

How is that not reinforcing gender stereotypes? Becuase if someone born male likes pink, dresses and barbiedolls, is then a girl/woman because of that, then what about someone born female who dont do these things? are they denyed womanhood then? It has to go both ways, you cant just say “for these specific individuals it counts as proof, but for someone else it doesnt”.

The worst is yet when parents decide that. Oh, my child plays with gender non-stereotypical toys, must be a boy/girl then! And they think they’re sooo progressive! Seriously, this is one of the main reasons I’m trans-critical. Oh, you think it’s oppressive when doctors “decide” children’s “gender”? Well, take a careful look at the parents who do, based on gender stereotypes instead of, you know, naturally occurring biology!

I mean, even if the child says that he/she is the “gender” he/she isn’t, doesn’t mean that you, as a parent, should decide that the child is therefore trans. Like, holy shit, when I was a child, I said I wanted to become a horse, doesn’t mean I’m truly a “horse on the inside”. As if, you know, children mean what transjacktivists mean when they say something like that.

I understand that children can suffer from gender dysphoria. This does not make them the opposite sex though.

when I was 5 I insisted that I was a boy and that my mom should call me by my boy-name. She did when I told her too, but she never encouraged that I was really a boy. She took it for what it really was. I couldnt idenitify with the disney princess image, and 16 ago, thats all there was.

Yeah, right. I've even read about cases where the child just did gender non-stereotypical things and the parents still decided he/she was trans. I can't remember suffering from gender dysphoria as a child, but I did have lots of gender non-stereotypical interests, like dinosaurs and I wouldn't touch a doll with a ten-foot pole, didn't like dresses or pink and whatnot. Glad nobody decided I must be a boy then. And children with gender dysphoria should be treated as having that instead of a "true gender".

It makes me so angry, because femininity is such a narrowly defined box, even more so than masculinity. And an additional problem is that toys are gendered in the first place. Why can't we have more neutral toys instead of dolls and kitchen sets etc.? Is there really nothing else to play with?

Don’t teach your daughter she must be a boy if she likes trucks and dirt.
