Heartbreaking and critical news from Gorom refugee settlement: Today, after a meeting with UNHCR and government officials, our vulnerable queer and trans refugees have been forced to leave the camp and reception center at Gorom.
We are now being directed to go and stay in Juba. While UNHCR has stated they will work with us from there, they have made it absolutely clear they will NOT provide ANY financial assistance for our housing or survival in Juba.
This is a devastating blow. The safety and well-being of our community are now at extreme risk. With nowhere to go and no financial support, we are facing unimaginable hardship and danger in Juba.
We urgently need to raise $17,230 USD to secure safe housing in Juba town for our queer refugees. This amount is critical to provide immediate shelter and a chance at peace of mind for those who have already endured so much.
Every single dollar makes a difference right now. Please, if you can, contribute whatever you can to help us secure a safe haven for our community.
