Mario and Luigi's Brotherly Bond - A Hot Take From Someone With A Brother Herself
Been wanting to rant a bit about this, so here... and keep in mind I'm not a huge Mario Super fan, so forgive me if I don't know all the facts.
I might continue with more related discussions about this in the future, so let me know if you guys like it!
Let me just say, the people who are insistent on saying that Mario and Luigi hate each other and that Mario is abusive to Luigi, have clearly, NEVER had siblings before.
Me and my younger brother are only like, two years apart, but the older we get, the less significant the age gap becomes. We basically are like Mario and Luigi at this point.
Sure, we both can get on each other's nerves, get competitive with one another, and yeah, arguments and fights happen sometimes.
But that doesn't stop us from, most of the time jokingly and lovingly insulting one another, showing each other stupid memes, and hell, we would back each other up to hell and back no matter what, and talk about our problems with school, parents and life in general.
Mario and Luigi seem to have an even stronger bond than me and and my bro. They care so much about one another from what I've seen in pretty much every Mario game, to the point where they literally can't spend much time away from one another.
I've seen this particularly in playthroughs of SPM Dream Team, and I cry tears of joy everytime I think of those moments. They just love and care for each other so much.
When people try to disprove this or argue against it, they bring up MatPat and that one video of his.
I'm gonna make this very clear; for the love of god, don't bring up MatPat's Mario theories, beacause honestly, is that the only argument people have got at this point??
Look, when it comes MatPat, I DO like some of his theories, but what he says isn't 100% canon or fact. What's his tagline at the end of all his videos? THAT'S JUST A THEORY. What he says is not the absolute law. His videos aren't meant to be taken seriously.
(Even if he does seem to parade around his Mario Is Mental Series like a parade float, which I won't go into cause it's a whole other can of worms I don't have the energy to open...)
Also, the whole Mario Tennis scene where Mario steps on and grinds his foot onto Luigi's shoe, is not a bad thing, and it's been debunked countless times.
Trust me when I say me and my brother have gotten a little too competitive during games, and tried to egg the other on, and the other would just kinda role their eyes and just laugh about it.
Luigi is probably going "lol k whatever bro." in that scene as he shakes his head. And plus, Mario is known to be competitive, but he's not freaking OVERLY competitive or a sore loser.
Plus, having a look at recent-ish games, Mario and Luigi are still as close as ever, heck they are WAY closer than me and my brother. Maybe cause they are twins??
It really makes me sad when I see people who are fans of Luigi, but they hate on Mario, who in reality, is a kind, caring and loyal man who loves his brother, his special someone, and his friends. He would literally travel throughout the whole universe to keep them safe.
And I would absolutely go to hell for my bro too, because despite everything, I care a whole lot about him. And if anyone dared to shit on him or give him crap, I would deck them so hard they'd have trouble walking their sorry ass.
So TL:DR; Mario and Luigi do not hate each other, Mario is not an asshole, and Luigi would ABSOLUTELY wreck you guys' shit if knew some of y'all were shitting on his bro.
