(ZOE KRAVITZ, 29, SHE/HER) We have been waiting for a while, but RAINBOW ‘Ray’ JONES was finally spotted in the village today. People heard whispers that they are a PSYCHIC that is hellbent on staying away from the veils. Will they succeed? Only time can tell. The vampire gave a small smile. “I guess that’s fair.” Edgar perked up at the mention of a personal belonging. “O-oh, okay, one moment.” With that he rushed out of the kitchen, coming back a little while later holding a well polished pocket watch. “Will this do?” he asked hopefully.

Rainbow brightened up seeing the spring in Edgar’s step at the mention of an item. While he was in the other room, she closed her eyes, breathing in the steam of her tea, soothing herself, getting ready to soon concentrate all her attention on the task at hand. “Now we need a table and some candles” She said to herself before walking to one of the kitchen cupboards and getting out two candles from a draw. “These will do.” Ray beamed as Edgar showed the watch “That’s perfect!” She held the candles out “Where can I prop these?”

Noelle giggled. “But Xen is so cute.. Look at her!” They replied with a smile. Noelle walked over to the cat and held out a hand for them. “Here, Xen… I’ll give you some attention.” Noelle giggled and offered their neighbour a shrug. “Okay, c’mon then. Tell me something exciting. I have such a boring life.”

“She’s cute all right, but just you look around and she’ll be scratching your door. Don’t remember you paying the deposit on this place, Xen” Ray tutted addressing her feline flatmate. She thought for a moment. “You know I said I was thinking of opening a sanctuary/reflexology salon? I kinda found a place in town where I could potentially make it happen.” She smiled. “And if that’s not juicy enough for ya, it looks like the lady from Flat 4 is playing two old gents at the same time. The cheeky minx.”

“Better, thank you,” Ava said with a small smile. She pushed off the wall of the alley, taking a step toward the front of the pub. She paused, considering Rainbow for a moment. “If you had the opportunity to get rid of your powers … would you?”

“Glad to hear.” Rainbow offered a smile. Ray’s briefly heard of power-binding before, but giving her abilities - willingly or not - would feel like loosing a part of herself. “No.” She said plainly. “After all this time, I wouldn’t be me without it.” Ava seemed conflicted enough about her powers, Ray didn’t dare returning the question at first, but finally added. “Would you?”

“Well aren’t you cute.” Bex knocked back some of her drink and offered her chosen company a softer smile. It wasn’t without some previously decided intentions though. “What brought you out for drinks? Any juicy drama or just wanting to have some fun?”

Ray turned to fast the girl that was trying to make a conversation with her. “Oh, I work her.” She shrugged, cupping a vodka/tonic. “Some days I feel like hanging back and having a couple after my shift. Today’s one of the some-days I guess. How about yourself?”

The vampire held up the mugs, the tea threatening to spill as his hands shook. It…was possible. It really was possible. “I-I’ll pay you. However much you want. It’s the least I can do.”

Rainbow thought of full on protesting, taking money for séances kinda made her feel like a charlatan. She ended up just shrugging. “Let’s see if I can actually get somewhere first.” She smiled encouragingly and took one mug of off his hands. “We’re in luck since you’re blood relatives it should be easier to reach out. Would also help if you have any personal belongings of his left?” Seances were fairly straight forward and Ray was just mentally going through the basic logistics.

“Yeah sure, let the new kid cram for the final – make him take it like the rest of the students who’ve been here all semester.” Clark mumbled under his breath. The college student was sprawled out all over the grass with a few books surrounding him. Pushing his glasses back up the man put a pencil in his mouth as he flipped through a few pages. A part of him really wanted to say screw this and drop out, but Clark couldn’t – or should I say Gabriel couldn’t? It had become a norm for him to be like this.

Suddenly a shadow loomed over him, blocking out some of the sunlight. The hidden archangel looks up as the pencil fell out of his mouth and land in his book. “What?” Clark cracked a small smile. “You never seen a nerd in their natural habitat?” He looks around them to add for effect. “Do I need to be on the look out for the zoo workers coming after me for escaping?”

Rainbow walked around the meadow frantically looking around. She made a beeline for a young guy, seemingly carelessly lying on the grass. Ray slowed down just before approaching, wanting to make sure she’s right, when the lad noticed her and commented. She smiled holding her hands up. “So you agree nerds should be kept in cages?” Ray squinted smirking, that was her take-away. She skimmed over his books, sprawled all over. “I am so sorry to bother you, but you may be.. actually are lying on my keys.” She motioned at the grass with an apologetic expression. “I dropped it somewhere around here.”

The ghost cat that occupied the funeral home was cute, sure, but really beginning to grind Sydney’s gears.

So here he was in the furniture shop, looking for replacement couches for the lobby. The originals had be scratched to ribbons. It was embarrassing.

He stared blankly at the paisley couch in front of him. Then turned his attention to the stripped mustard number.

“…Is it just me or are both of these options absolutely dreadful?” A pause, “…I’m sorry, I’m sure you care little about my seating preferences. It’s just… I run the funeral home in town and I’m afraid these would only aid to the grief of my clients… Or am I being too judgmental? Oh, I don’t know, what do you think?” It was this person’s lucky day, if anyone could stress over couch covers if was Sydney — the worlds most indecisive funeral director.

By now Rainbow’s little flat had quite a lot of furniture piled into it, but the lack of coffee table was starting to annoy her to bits. Sure, the boxes kinda do the trick, but its just not the same eating your TV dinner at a make-shift wonky table that could go all mushy and collapse if you spill any liquid on it. This was her third time in this furniture shop and Ray was determined to maybe finally buy what she’s been looking for.

She turned toward the voice speaking to her, eyeing the sofa’s as the guy rambled on. “I’d say if you care about the look of a sofa at someone’s funeral, you probably didn’t care much for the person.” Ray mused. “They do both look... like they have some character.” She nodded agreeing to herself, both sofa’s looked like they belong in a living room of a 70s middle class family, in the most fun way. Rainbow grinned as she really liked the feel of both pieces of furniture. “Paisley seams more tame if you have to choose from these two?” She suggested.

Noelle shook her head, holding out her cup of coffee. “No, no. I just need a little for this.” She pouted at Ray. She walked in and made her way to the counter. “Oh, gosh… I’ll have to get you back when I’m on my way home tonight. You wanna do dinner? I’ve been craving tacos all week.” Noelle offered with a small smile. “I mean… I can totally just get you a carton of milk if you’d rather not spend anymore time with me.” She said with a wink.

”Oh, I have plenty then. Ray skipped to fridge, quickly got half empty jug out and put in on the counter for Noelle. “It’s nothing, I’m sure come knocking asking to borrow something more to be fair. Not that I’m counting.” She smiled, nodding eagerly soon after. “But I’m all in for tacos for dinner! Would never turn down the only neighbour around here that I actually like. Plus Xena and I are getting sick of each other.” Rainbow pointed at her cat scratching the windowsill, then turned her attention back to Noelle. She paused for a moment soon adding. “Ooh, I shall wear my best sweats.”

Ava tilted her head at Rainbow’s words. “Yeah, it is,” she agreed, listening as Ray went on to talk about caring for others unless it stressed her out. She shrugged. “I think that sort of comes with the territory though, right? I mean, stressing over the wellbeing of people you love is something everyone goes through, I’m pretty sure. It’s part of caring about that person.”

Ray nodded, a smile playing on her lips, as she listened to Ava. The young psychic sounded so mature. “That’s very true. I myself can’t help it when it comes to poking my nose in the business of my loves.“ She grinned thinking about her family and close friends and how they can hardly hide much from her, then sighted. “And some people are just so not worth so not worth it obviously.” She murmured to herself.

“How we feeling now by the way?” Rainbow eyed Ava smirking.

Ava closed her eyes for a moment, trying to remember the way she felt when she was around Gravi, clinging to that feeling. By the time she opened her eyes again, she could feel that calm coming over her. “His name is Graviel de la Renta? I don’t know if you know him. He owns the only Latinx restaurant in town. He’s only twenty-eight, but he’s already super successful. It’s really admirable.” She smiled fondly for a moment before sighing. “He worries me sometimes, though. He tends to make friends with everyone, regardless if they’re actually good for him or not. That adds to my stress, honestly.” She rubbed her forehead. “I know I shouldn’t let it. I mean, he’s made it this far without my input.”

Rainbow’s heard of the guy and ran into him couple of times but not enough to form an opinion, she liked the restaurant though. “Lovely place. And sounds like a nice guy. It’s amazing that he’s accepting of your abilities.” Ray regretted saying that the minute she did, Ava has not mentioned him knowing about her powers. Rainbow’s brow furrowed slightly, as Ava mentioned her worrying. That’s not where her might should be going now, although the girl already seemed calmer, more focused. "There's nothing wrong with caring for people you love." She affirmed. "Not if it agitates or stresses you though.." once again Ray tried not to sound too patronising, she was no relationship expert herself.

Parker ran a hand through his hair. “No, no. Some poor soul catching me on an bad day,” he said with an audible sigh. “I’m sorry. I hope I don’t scare your customers away, though I’m sure I can drink enough to make up for the loss.” He was pouting his lips at this point. He was still upset over the fight he had with his brother. “Can I get a stout, please?” he asked.

“Well, they know they shouldn’t now.” She concluded shrugging. Rainbow laughed at the comment. “Oh don’t you worry, if you managed to scare some people away it’ll be a nice break from a busy day.” She nodded. “Half, bottle, or.. “ Ray looked up to Parker again. “I’ll get you a pint.” She smiled taking a glass from below the bar and starting tap. “Bad day at the office, then?” She pried, putting the drink in front of him. Ray’s empath abilities sensed the unease on his mind, it was more personal than work but this was a good topic started she thought.

Edgar’s cheeks heated up as he gave an embarrassed shrug. “If I don’t do it in my spare time I’ll get too distracted and fall behind. Plus I really love what I do, so that helps.” The vampire nodded as he followed his guest to the kitchen.

He let out a sigh, knowing this was a weird and possibly even hard thing to ask. Getting the kettle running, he finally turned to look back at Rainbow. “I…want to try a séance. My father went missing from this town nearly 200 years ago, and any evidence on what could have happened is certainly gone by now. I just…I just want closure.”

Edgar shook his head as he reached for a couple of mugs and tea bags. “I don’t even know if it’s possible or if I’m asking too much and I’m so sorry about that. I just, I don’t know, figured it was worth a try.”

Rainbow smiled at the remark, she liked Edgar’s outlook on life - not a lot of people could boast that they did what they loved, and most of those that could didn’t value it. Ray listened intensely, she couldn’t say this was unexpected, as she had a hunch something along the lines would come up, just wasn’t sure of context. She seemed to be calculated what Edgar said in her head, it’s been awhile since she’s gone further with her powers, but she’s been practicing basic divination religiously.

“Technically...” She started with a sight. “..it should be possible. All your questions could be answered just here and now.” She smiled with a shrug, that was the simplified truth. “But it all depends on infinite amount of things... I could try looking for clues as to what happened, maybe piece it all together even.” Ray thought for another second. “I suppose, the easiest way could be looking for him or even asking him. As you said, in form of a séance.” She paused, it has been hundreds of years and Edgar must’ve thought of this himself; chances are his father has passed away years ago and contacting him through seance seemed like the most straightforward way to get to any narrative of the disappearance. Unless he wasn't dead.

“And it’s definitely not too much.” Ray added. “You deserve to know or at least try to know, if that’s what you want.” She just hoped she could produce some answers, and that Edgar is ready for whatever they could be.

Noelle left her apartment and walked the short distance down the hall and tapped lightly on the door. “Ray!” Noelle called out. “You there?” She stepped back and waited for her neighbour to answer her knock. “I thought I saw a light on. I need milk!”

Ray barely heard the door but definitely heard Noelle’s voice, she opened the door with half smile. “Do we have ourselves a milk emergency?” Ray tried to keep her face stone cold before cracking into a giggle. “Get in.” She motioned as she turned for her small kitchen leaving the door ajar. “You’re in luck by the way! Hope you don’t need much though?” Ray asked apologetically.

I can’t believe they didn’t tell me it aired yesterday! I was going to record it. So what’d you think? Doesn’t it look so fun! I did a stint as a yogi for about half a year. Not enough to be a master but certainly had a blast.”

“Oh my, I woulda brushed my hair this morning if I knew I’ll meet a local celebrity!” Ray chuckled, happy that she didn't end up being mistaken. “That’s a bit crap of them ain’t it. But I loved it! They will have you over again I’m sure.” She beamed. “Oh, you sounded like you know plenty to me. So you don’t really run any classes somewhere around town then?”
