There’s a memory always playing in her mind.
She can still remember that day from a few years ago.
There was a boy trying to do a high jump, and kept failing.
But Hakuno’s attention wasn’t on him. It was on Rin.
Hakuno saw the scene by accident. To this day, she wasn’t sure why it bothered her so much, but Rin was captivated by him.
And Hakuno decided not to catch up to her that day and took a different way home.
She put down the can and glanced at Rin, who had no idea of her internal struggle.
“I don’t think you should participate. Don’t you already have a lot on your plate?” Hakuno asked, knowing that this is a losing battle.
Once Rin makes up her mind, there’s no changing it.
“Hm. Well, if I somehow die in this holy grail war, you’ll finally be free of me.” Rin’s joke was too morbid for Hakuno’s liking.
“Don’t joke about it.” She frowned and crossed her arms. “Just because I don’t like our situations doesn’t mean I want to see you die. Geez, Rin. I’m not like that.”
“I’m just messing with you!” Rin seemed surprised by her reaction, and let out a short and awkward laugh before clearing her throat and drinking her tea. “I’m participating because I want to. I love challenges, okay? No one is forcing me to.”
Hakuno was unhappy with her answer.
Why would she put her life on the line for some challenge?
“The holy grail grants any wish, right?” Hakuno asked. “What are you going to wish for?”
“For you to look less bland.”
“Oh, you think you’re so funny.”
