... what a great book on Audible! I love listening to the 30s gentlemanly way of talking - in fact, it makes me feel tickled pink on my way to work. I am about halfway through, and I cannot recommend it enough to all my socially anxious peers.

It gives me something to think about: my anxiety prevents me from forming meaningful connections by seeming uninterested in other people. Be daring with your interest in others and lavish in your praise. While it may seem like you are only feigning interest to screw things out of people, I find that a forceful exercise in human connection is not always bad. It is a bit like forcing a child to have manners; the child simply does not know any better, and nobody would tell a parent that they are teaching manipulation, when it is simply considered good manners by older people who have mastered it. Not many people have mastered the art of handling humans, as many have never been told that true success and friendship come easily by: 1. Being a great, patient listener and asking questions about things the other person loves talking and thinking about 2. Repeating the other person’s name 3. Not scolding or using negative reinforcements at work, or with friends and family, but simply amplifying other’s successes with praise I myself will try hard to implement these lessons and I am looking forward to the rest of the book.

- started this no BS audiobook for self-improvement: ‘Real Help: an Honest Guide to Self Improvement’ by Ayodeji Awosika

- bought cheap sterling silver hoops that don’t look cheap :)

- realized that I can now actually manage to put down a snack and say no to bored binging. I realize I did not want to eat it to begin with!

I understand that the Sully’s were not equipt to do a rescue but they really said whoops that’s unfortunate and bounced and never mentioned concern for Spider. I’m hoping we will get some deleted scenes released that show a little more care for what happened to Spider from the Sullys?

I crave that romantic tension, but I would like it to have the same energy in other aspects of my life.

               It is like a sick “Will they or won’t they?”.

She feels herself be absorbed into the grey pit of her brains – a mushing lump of repetition. Her eyes close under the weight of the family Christmas supper.

A pale orange halo filters through her eyelids. She distractedly thinks of the webbed fingers of a frog, film slimy and see-through under the sun. Sarah toys with that idea, moving her closed eyes to different points until her view is clouded with a lemony blue.

With a bittersweet tinge, she thinks of how her mind is closed in the same bubble as six years back. In the time between her past excitement and her present reflection, just a brief interlude. She hates thinking of herself as an inert being, like her best show is nothing more than a fortuitous reaction between stagnant xenon and eclectic fluorine. Immediately apologetic,

Nothing wrong with xenon: it glows a pretty color and all.

It is much like Sarah for her mind to jump to explanations. Why is she “inert”? Quiet disposition: reflective and observant at its best, socially anxious at its worst. However, she also blames the stress that her father and her past lovers have served up on her plate. Only the latter half is due to her naïve decisions - she flushes with anger. Eager to distance herself from the modern archetype of the woman plagued with daddy issues, she feels gratitude for the amazing man who has been her stepfather since childhood.

Maybe that is her problem – chronically self-reflective to the point that she hinders her own path up the hill. She shakes her head, deciding to keep any thoughts about reviewing her full natal chart at arm’s length. So much for distancing herself from any stereotypes…

She smells like coconut. Probably her shampoo. When she picked it up from a supermarket aisle, she probably thought it was refreshing, tropical. She probably was not expecting a female colleague of hers to want to lean in and take a deep breath in her soft red hair.

Sarah writes like that in her personal diary: a repetitive tone that gives a frantic, yet robotic impression. It is just how she conjures thoughts – she likes consistency when translating to a written media.

Less so for the simple sketches she draws to accompany her entries. She never pours her heart into either; she feels too embarrassed at the thought that anyone could find her journal. So, Sarah writes hermetically and draws abstractly.

She likes to slowly trace round, colorful figures over and over – Sarah once saw it on a cooking show. A contestant with a background in brand design liked to do that to choose the way her dishes would be presented. Sarah does not produce anything as beautiful – neither her thoughts, nor her sketches.

However, a beautiful yet simple shape is the way she aspires to work out what sometimes is an intricated mess in her head. As her softened green pencil traces a graceful blob for the fifth time, she knows that she is being ridiculous.
