i recently started playing stardew valley regularly and guys idk who to romance

[rainiedazeart]

here’s a glimpse through what’s becoming my process...fleshing out ideas in my sketch book is just so much easier for me. especially when im not doing something lineless! i have a better explanation of how I’m working under the cut if you’re interested ( •̀ ω •́ )✧

1) the initial sketch for this part of my process i just focus on the idea i have and seeing if it could work. prudence and oranges have significance so I wanted to create something that reflected how they were important to her and how she was similar to one. peel back the layers and what do you get her! sometimes the first sketch isn’t what you wanted, so you might draw the same thing a few times over. This is called thumbnailing and is an overlooked part of the art making process. (or well, I overlooked it)

2) the revision i tend to use my first thumbnail as the foundation for my work. so in this part i fix anatomy (although i’ll be honest I didn’t try especially hard here), add more details, and fiddle with the composition. i didn’t like the negative space in the image and tried to fill it up with something else important to prudence as a character. a ribbon and some flowers. i wanted anything i added to have a reason for being there. your elements should have purpose in more illustrative pieces.

3) final inking there’s not much to be said about this step. this is where i finalize the lines i want in my image. i inked this completely mirrored and flipped it for the final reveal so I would be able to see any errors in the inking process.
