This is one of those pairs that is so good that I literally don’t care if they’re romantic or platonic. I just need them to stay together.

i'm totally down for percy and annabeth being the kind of couple that continues to do best-friend shit because they were friends first. like, yes they kiss and cuddle and sneak out to go on dates, but they also still prank hermes cabin together. they still call each other nicknames like pussy jackson and annabitch. they still do their best-friend handshake. just, percy and annabeth incorporating their friendship into their romantic relationship.
y'all forget that annabeth gave up immortality first when she didn't become a hunter.
we as a society have to give percy jackson more credit for not developing a HUGE ego. i mean he walked into camp and got claimed right away by poseidon and everyone was automatically like “you’re too powerful, you’re going to change the world, our fate lies in your hands” HELLO? i’d be on ellen talking about that shit
in 24 hours, it will have been 10 years since I joined tumblr.
thats so not ok at all
"we're gonna get to see the underwater kiss" "we're gonna get to see silena and clarisse" "we're gonna get to see baby nico" you guys are all wrong. we're gonna get to see walker scobell as percy motherfucking jackson talking to fucking horses. will they poorly cgi the mouths to move? will they start talking in his head? will the voices be silly or perhaps recognizable celebrities? who knows. but i feel like we've all forgotten the talking horses and honestly it's a crime because THATS what im most excited to see on the big screen
Reading trials of Apollo and Hermes being played by Lin Manuel Miranda makes this line so much funnier
I feel a knot in my stomach
I do think there’s something to say about how ellie has treated joel from the beginning. because she saw how other people treated him. she’s smart, and she’s observant. she saw that people were scared of him. that he rubbed people the wrong way. that people trusted his capabilities, but little else. that people had stopped pushing him or trying to get close (tess tried. she did). he had a reputation and it wasn’t a good one. he called her cargo. kept her at a distance. but ellie didn’t care who joel was. she got out her joke book and started reading. asked questions and chatted relentlessly. she wore down on that hardened shell he created (the shell so many people were scared to touch) and in doing so unlocked the person joel had spent so many years hiding. the person still mourning and traumatized over his daughters death. the person who will stand awake all night in a forest so a little girl can sleep. who cries to his brother because he’s scared. who spent so many years focused on self preservation, would rather send the one person who could save his life away so that he doesn’t traumatize her with his death
Something about how physically small Ellie looks in this episode just makes it all so much more intense. How little she is curled next to Joel, how big the rifle looks when she holds it, the way David is able to pick her up so easily. The contrast in the size of their hands when he's telling her that she, a 14-year-old, is his only equal, and how tiny hers look when she wraps her arms around Joel; the way his coat reaches her knees when he drapes it over her. Every second the camera spends on her is forcing you to look at how young she is and it just makes it all so much more awful.
craig mazin proving to all of us once again that he knows exactly when and where changes need to be made from the game to the show and exactly what he's saying when he makes those changes with ellie being allowed to brutalise david without joel stopping her are you listening to me!!!! it's about giving ellie far more agency and independence than her game counterpart, it's about allowing her to be the protagonist on her own terms, it's about joel once again failing her and showing up too late to save her and finding her stumbling about in the snow and all he can do is hold her and tell her it's okay, it's about setting up the kind of person ellie becomes when joel isn't there to hold her back it's about showing the extent of the brutality she is capable of when given the right motivation, and most importantly it's about ellie finally getting the outlet to release every bit of rage and anger and fear and sorrow she's had building up her entire life and violently reclaiming her own life on her own terms! and it's about giving bella ramsey his emmy moment!!! are you fucking listening to me!!!!!!
After further thinking about this scene, what continues to break my heart is the way Joel tried to run to Ellie after Henry takes the gun and Sam’s on top of Ellie trying to kill her. He realizes he doesn’t have the gun, and he doesn’t care. He was ready to give it everything he had, to pull infected Sam off of Ellie with his bare hands, even though he’s not immune, even though he could get bit, he was ready to wrestle infected Sam with his bare hands to get him off of his Ellie.
I keep crying because. because. they gave these two old gay men not only sixteen years unequivocally in love with each other, but also gave them just about the happiest ending anyone could hope for in a world like the one in tlou: dying on their own terms, in each others arms. a lesser show could have easily ended their story when bill was shot, he could have bled out in frank's arms, and it would have even been understandable in a show like this, but no. like bill said, this is not a tragedy. frank didn't have to keep living alone without bill. they chose to die together, locked away safe together for the rest of time. its so unbelievably beautiful and so much more than any of us could have hoped for from a show of this genre, any show really, that I don't even know what to do with myself about it
they did the fucking hotel lobby sequence where ellie pretends to be a guest and joel calls her a weird kid oh my god😭😭😭😭😭 i love that they’re taking shit from the gameplay and not just the cutscenes!!! fuck i love when adaptations love the source material FUCK
I WAS EXPECTING BILL BEEFING WITH A 14 YEAR OLD NOT THE GREATEST LOVE STORY EVER TOLD
