I absolutely had to
ultimately, adam seriously considers the pros and cons before dating charlie.
charlie’s always been the more openly emotional one, the one who lets his impulsivity drive his actions.
charlie was the one brave enough to tell adam how he felt first, and to be frank, that’s truly the only way their relationship could ever start.
not because adam’s feelings were weaker than charlie’s, god no.
but because selfishly, adam feels like he has more to lose than charlie.
and listen, adam isn’t sure that he’s even going to the nhl yet, even if that is the goal. so the cost of dating a guy is almost equal for them.
but because, god forbid they don’t work out…. if there’s anything freshmen year had taught him, it’s that the ducks always choose charlie.
pushing it down and praying olivia’s pov but:
he is stable (tucker)
you are deep (elliot)
their potential half-siblings-who-are-ten-years-apart-because-dad-left-the-family-energy is currently off the charts
I love how Avatar perfectly balances "the kids are going to save the world!" with "which is pretty fucked up, actually."
Wisdom in the tags.
Yet more wisdom in the tags!
saw a tweet just showing the body language in a scene of kiara and robby and i think i need to rethink their dynamic
I know everyone wants to see Santos on the night shift and so do I, but what about Javadi?
A week time and she'd get the most confusing double crush on Ellis and Shen, start confidently suggest and perform crazy procedures with Abbot and complain about her mom with Walsh, who works with the woman and gets it.
They would make a cowboy out of her absurdly fast, one that would cause Eileen Shamsi and Gloria Underwood the worst migraines
“dennis whitaker is ex amish or ex jehovah’s witness”yes i love this but let me propose another theory as a midwestern farm girl myself:
dennis whitaker comes from a family who WAS proud to sacrifice, send him to med school, etc. until 2020 came and like many people i know, his family went from being republican/right wing to full on Trump cult psychosis. they began viewing education as evil, modern medicine, dennis, for continuing to practice / wanting to practice. posting about him on FB backhandedly, sharing posts about doctors implanting chips, etc etc
maybe he has a younger sibling he feels he abandoned by ‘getting out’. maybe he has nobody. maybe he is never welcome home again because maybe his family as he once knew and loved them, doesn’t exist.
one day langdon’s younger sister comes into the pitt, either because he’s dodging her calls and she’s trying to find him or just to check in.
langdon doesn’t talk too much about her, but when he does it’s all praise. she’s his first pride and joy, from before his kids.
but no one has met her before, so it’s safe to say they’re shocked that she looks almost identical to santos.
the first time javadi is working the night shift, she's nervous. she generally knows what to expect-- it'll just be like day shift, if not a little quieter and with different staff.
that doesn't stop her from feeling out of place with the change. and listen, javadi knows she's a good doctor. she can confidently say that she's gotten a hang of this ED stuff in the weeks following PittFest. but the idea of having to prove herself to staff she hasn't worked with yet, well she's definitely a little on edge.
and ellis is great. she gives javadi enough space to be independent, but is always available if she needs her for a consult. (she still misses mckay, though).
inevitably, dr abbot gets pulled onto a case with them-- a younger patient who was more concerned about being unable to post on their social media than their health (likely an influencer of some sort).
the patient codes, they do their doctor stuff to resuscitate and stabilize them, and when all is done, dr abbot says "don't worry, you'll be back on myspace in no time" (he only knows what myspace is bc of his little sister).
and before javadi can stop herself, after they leave the patient's room, she blurts "myspace? are you 60 years old?"
she can't believe she just said that. she's more embarrassed than she's ever been in the ED before, which is saying something after mateo thought she was coming onto him again, about a week into her rotation.
abbot is just blinking at her, unsure of how to respond as ellis absolutely is losing her shit behind her.
"no seriously man, myspace is like-- 40 years old!" ellis says through heaving breaths, "do- do you even own a phone?"
abbot shoves ellis on her arm, and javadi just watches, wide-eyed as she stumbles, still trying to catch her breath. out of the corner of her eye she can see abbot shaking his head with a small smile on his face.
"i thought ellis making fun of my age was enough-- now I have to deal with two of you," he grumbles in a way that javadi is pretty sure is just for show. "bring it on, dr javadi."
safe to say, night shift isn't as bad as she thought it would be.
I've read several posts now complaining about evil Robby being mean to poor widdle Langdon and I'm not sure what show some of you are watching.
I'm sorry, but it is beyond reasonable for Robby to be angry at, want to avoid, and/or not trust Langdon in season 2. Being an addict doesn't make you a bad person but struggling with addiction is not a get out of jail free card.
Robby told Langdon that he was recommending him to a fellowship and then Langdon either stole medications twice or didn't tell him about the medications he already stole (I'm not sure about the exact order of events.) He stole meds directly from a patient and diluted a vial of lorazapam and glued1 the lid back on.
Langdon used the trust Robby had in him to steal medications right from under Robby's nose. He stole from the ER Robby was responsible for!
And when he realizes that Santos is on to him, he denigrates her publicly and then tries to preemptively paint her as a villain to Robby. He tries to manipulate Robby into not believing Santos if/when she tells the truth about him. Why on earth would Robby trust Langdon the next day he sees him after that?
Robby tells Santos that she "has a duty to tell [him]" about anything that could affect the ER/patient care. Presumably, he feels the same about Langdon.
The last time we saw Langdon and presumably the last time he and Robby spoke he threw Robby's panic attack in his face and acted like it was worse than stealing drugs. Robby has every right to still be hurt/mad at Langdon for that.
In my opinion, there probably isn't just a lack of trust in Langdon, but also a lack of trust in himself to know if Langdon is lying to him again. (And probably a bit of shame that the intern on her first day noticed what Robby couldn't or wouldn't.)
Part of taking accountability is apologizing to the people you hurt and knowing that they still might not forgive you. You don't do it to be forgiven, you do it because it's the right thing. That's how it works. People you hurt probably won't forgive you right away. You have to work to rebuild trust once you've betrayed it.
Also, putting Langdon on chairs is incredibly sensible even if he hadn't stolen drugs! It's his first day practicing medicine in 10 months! Of course he should start with less severe cases! I've seen people acting like this is some crime against Langdon and I straight up do not understand. Stop demonizing Robby to prop up Langdon!
ooohhhhh mannnn what if langdon is served in the middle of s2.
still wearing his wedding ring and desperately trying to convince himself his marriage can be saved.
(inspired by hotch in cm icl)
in the months that follow langdon’s departure, the rumour mill goes crazy.
anyone who actually knew anything about it keeps quiet for their own reasons, so naturally, the wildest explanations come up.
popular ones being that he’s going through a family emergency, or abby was pregnant w their third child and they got sick, or he was offered a position at another hospital, etc etc.
and maybe collins or dana or whoever has been keeping langdon in the loop.
so on his first day back, he strolls into the pitt, unapologetic, as if he never left in the first place.
but on full display is his lack of a wedding ring, and a nine month NA keychain.
he refuses to elaborate.
picture a scenario of langdon's first day back where santos is avoiding him as much as possible, both for his benefit and her own.
she knows she's probably the last person he wants to see and vice versa, knowing it'll be awkward.
she nearly manages to pull it off, too.
but at the end of her shift, she runs into him in the staff room.
for lack of a better reaction, words fall out of her mouth in the form of an insult or a sly jab, likely something along the lines of calling him swiper.
santos freezes.
bc fuck that was NOT what she wanted her first interaction with him to be.
her eyes widen and she frantically reaches for some sort of apology that fails her because langdon is laughing?
like full-on, hysterical laughing. she watches him as he tries to recover, and fails, for a solid minute, unsure of what to do yet again.
but when he stops laughing, all he does is cautiously clap a hand on her shoulder, mumbles a "thanks. you're the first person to act normal around me all day" and leaves.
and what the fuck?
i know this is super unlikely, esp as langdon is seemingly losing more supporters for s2 (reasonably)
but the concept of javadi being in his corner, even just subtly as a show of how she's grown from season one and learnt from mckay
plus they barely got any scenes together in s1 so they're basically strangers anyway
to clarify -- when I say langdon is reasonably losing supporters, I don't mean bc he's an addict (although the stigma around addiction is def a reason for ppl to distance themselves)
i mean it more in a sense that these people, esp the ones closest to him, must feel betrayed, much like robby, that he hid it for so long
and as all of these months have passed, most characters if not all of them haven't seen him since pittfest, and its easy to be angry when you haven't seen someone in a while.
it's easy to stay angry when you don't know if a person has changed
-- with javadi not knowing langdon that much beforehand, its easier to give someone a first chance than a second one
no matter what happens, im excited to see what they do with landgon's storyline for s2. if the hint of dana not being in his corner is true, will she (and others) come around as the day progresses? or will they hold on to their anger for longer?
