Hullo everyone, and welcome to the Ralph's Mummy Ask Blog!

Ralph's mummy here. I have internet access from beyond the grave, and I've decided to use it to start an ask blog and answer questions from all you lovely people. There are a few things I'd like you all to be aware of before submitting an ask, though:

Any sort of bigotry — including but not limited to racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia — is not welcome here, and asks that contain or promote these will not be answered.

Please refrain from submitting sexual or suggestive content, as the owner of this blog is a minor.

Generally speaking, if your ask violates any of the guidelines stated above, or if for whatever reason I am uncomfortable answering your ask, then it will not be answered. I will try my best to answer most asks as soon as I can!

hello mrs. ralph’s mum, how has your summer been?

Quite good. Summer has been quite difficult for me since I've died — Ralphie's birthday is always difficult — but I've been finding quite a bit of joy here in the afterlife nonetheless. I suppose having the dead children from the island here is helping to fill the void a bit.

thoughts on Jack merridew

Jack... poor, dear little Jack. He was just a frightened little creature. And, if I do say so myself, a prime example of the negative effects of society's expectations on boys.

What do you mean? Roger is the most baby angel sweetheart. He gave the littleuns his rock collection, and he also saw that Piggy had a fly on his head so he killed the fly with a rock ! He's such an angel. If aliens ever visit them we should make him speak for humanity.

And on both of those occasions, he... used much more force than would have been necessary.

What do you think of Roger? Isn't he an angel?

Oh, yes. Just a darling little angel.

In all seriousness, though... Roger is perhaps the only child on that island whom I believe might just be evil. I can certainly understand most of the others' motives for acting the way they did, even Jack, but I think Roger just enjoys causing pain. He always has.

Oh, yes. The day he was born, the doctor handed him to me, and once I had him in my arms, I didn't let go of him for hours. He was born in the early evening, and by the time I let go of him and had Gideon put him to bed, it was dark outside.

And almost as much as I loved holding him for hours, he loved being held for hours. I would sometimes just sit with him in my arms and let him look out the window.

Even as he got older, there was nothing I loved more than holding my Ralphie. Why, the night before I died, I cradled him and let him fall asleep in my arms, and he was eleven then.

Opinion on Jalph? It's the shipping between your son and Jack (I don't ship Jalph FYI no hate to Jalph shippers tho)

I can certainly see the appeal, especially in their first few weeks on the island when they were still mostly getting along. I must say, though, Jack is just about the ugliest little fellow I've ever laid eyes on. I would hope Ralphie would take a liking to someone far more attractive than that.

Any Favorite Fruits?

Hmm... I've always been partial to blueberries. When I was a little girl, we had a blueberry bush in our garden, and my siblings and I would just eat ever so many of them... even when we weren't supposed to. I remember once our mother told us not to eat any blueberries for a while, because she was planning to make a blueberry pie and needed all the blueberries she could get. But, of course, us being the little rascals we were, we didn't listen, and helped ourselves to the blueberries. Needless to say, we did not end up having blueberry pie.

You know, Ralphie always smelled like blueberries. He always used blueberry-scented shampoo and conditioner. And if anything, that makes me love blueberries even more, because they remind me of my darling boy.

Were you ever bullied in school? Sorry if it's too personal!

It's not too personal at all, darling. Don't you worry.

To answer your question, no, I don't believe I was ever bullied. Some of the more popular girls would tease me on occasion, certainly, but they never bullied me.

Well... that might not be entirely true. You see, Gideon and I met in secondary school, and he was the most sought-after boy in the entire school. Practically every girl in our school was head over heels for him, myself included. So when I happened to be the lucky girl that he liked back, and the two of us became an item, all of the popular girls were oh-so jealous, and I was... subject to their wrath for a few weeks afterward. So I suppose that might have counted as bullying. But that was only for a short while, and they all got over themselves eventually.

How was school like for you before you reached adulthood?

I was quite good in school. My best subject was always English. I wasn't... very popular, but I always had quite a few close friends.

I actually shared a class with Jack Merridew's mother. I don't believe I ever got the chance to talk to her, though. Not while I was in school with her, at least. (She's here with me in the afterlife, and surprisingly, she's actually quite pleasant. Not at all like her son.)

Sorry if this is a personal question but.. Has Ralph ever been bullied pre-island when you were alive? Or like, did he ever come home from school crying cuz of smth? Just curious, sorry if this is too personal!

Bullied, no. He's always been very popular. He has come home from school crying on a few occasions, but when that happens, it's usually because he's just tired of talking to people and needs some alone time.
