sometimes when i’m struggling w/ self-care i remind myself that i am, at my most basic, a hamster in an enclosure.

i need food & water & a safe environment

i need enrichment & the right level of stimuli. i get exhausted if exposed to too much stress & handling. 

i am a being with needs, and i deserve to have those needs met, by a responsible and loving caregiver. i just happen to also be that caregiver. 

when i think about it like that, it’s easier somehow

WHY WE NEED IT: Lux has an autoimmune disorder, potentially lethal MCAS scent allergies (hence the scent free laundry), chronic pain, injuries from unprovoked cop violence and more. After being failed by an inaccessible shelter system & lack of subsidized housing, they’re posted up in an inaccessible hotel that’s 128$ a night.

Since they rely on a CPAP machine for severe sleep apnea, sleeping on the streets is death. They’ve demonstrated extraordinary endurance to survive this long, and desperately need help with things they flatly cannot do. They need to be in stable housing & reunited with their cat.
