Some more headcanons for the Stranger Things x Outsiders x Brother AU (Mostly Pony angst tho because I love him sm <3)
Because the Curtis parents had so many kids, they barely had enough money for presents during Christmas, so Pony used to make his list smaller to fit their budget.
(One year, he needed new running shoes because his old ones had holes in them and he kept cutting his feet on small rocks, but Steve really wanted this random mechanic set, so Ponyboy just taped them back together and asked for a cheap book instead.)
Billy always gets him the best gifts (in Billy's opinion)
Ponyboy is overall very sarcastic and goofy with friends, but he's really quiet around his brothers because 1) With all of the noise, he'd get ignored. 2) Everyone used to praise Dallas and Johnny when they were kids because they were quiet (even though they aren't really anymore) and he just copied that because it made him "tolerable"
Pony sings great, but bakes better.
Two-bit started working at a grocery store after their parents died.
The Curtis parents don't give two and a half shits about grades, as long as you're okay.
Adding onto that, they noticed a few of the older boys (Steve, Dallas, and Two-Bit) feeling a little off in their early teens, so they'd spend more time with them to cheer them up (it worked! But it directly led to them not catching onto Pony's depression.)
Darry loves cherry flavored anything. He just does.
Two-Bit unironically listens to Prince.
Dallas has worked at SEVERAL bars, even lived in a few of the attics, but will NOT let Pony or Johnny into any of his work places. He doesn't like the idea of them in bars around the type of people he works with (It loosens on Johnny when Johnny turns 16-17, but does not loosen on Pony, especially during high tensions with Socs.)
Dallas' favorite movie genre is western.
When the older six were younger, they'd go on "Brother Days" where for one day each month, they'd go out all together. Each person got to pick one activity to do and they'd go around town doing it Ponyboy has NEVER been apart of it because he was "Too Young" when it started and he eventually grew so tired of being left out he just stopped asking and gave himself something to do while they went out.
(His mama was always the one who tried too comfort him after they wouldn't let him come because he never understood why, but eventually he just told himself he didn't care.)
Steve loves the color blue. Anything blue he loves. He has blue bedding, blue toolbox, a hundred blue shirts. He LOVES blue. (Same Steve, same.)
Soda is a HUGE fan of the Golden Hurricanes (A Tulsa Football Team) and so is Darry. They could go on for HOURS they admire that team.
Johnny can dance pretty well.
Johnny often teams up with Soda and flirts with girls.
Yes, if you say "The Curtis Brothers" pretty much every person on the East Side of Tulsa and every student/teacher at Will Rogers knows of them and many know at least ONE of them personally.
(Mostly Darry or Dallas, but there are several who would walk up to just about any of them and know them by name, though only Pony and Two-Bit really remember faces)
The older six have normal names because Rita had SOME say in the naming of her boys and wouldn't allow their father to name them his crazy ideas. (Soda slipped through because they were unexpected twins) Rita only let him name Pony because they had already decided he was their last and Darrel Sr. had only fully named one child while Rita had named the other five.
Dallas owns a motorcycle. Darry will NOT let him take Pony or Johnny on a ride. He knows Dallas would NEVER allow himself to crash, but he doesn't trust the rest of the drivers.
Steve has SEVER big-brother jealousy. He may act like he despises Pony, but he gets SO jealous when he sees someone his age interacting with Pony so casually. It's even worse if they are teaching him something Steve COULD HAVE already taught him if he wasn't so stubborn.
(Like, if he ever saw Harrington or Billy teaching him how to drive or tie a tie, he'd get EXTRA up close and personal with a whole stand-off-ish pose, arms crossed and everything.)
Ponyboy DESPERATELY needs glasses, but he knows how expensive they are so he just deals with it.
Darrel Sr. HATES Neil Hargrove with a burning passion. He fully knew that Neil was abusive but decided not to say anything. He had seven kids and a wife at home and Neil was dangerous, he wasn't risking it. but he comforted himself knowing that when Pony was there, he was probably sober and much nicer.
(It was only when Pony was 11 and came home with a huge bruise on his arm that Darrel Sr. marched right up to the Hargrove's door and told Neil if he ever touched his kid again, he'd kill him. Neil avoided eye contact with Pony for a few months after that.)
Despite that, Rita Curtis and Susan Hargrove were quite good friends. Rita knew if anything were to actually happen, Susan would take care of Pony. She was even willing to allow her custody of Pony if something ever happened to her but she died before she could write that in her will.
The older six can't differ between Hawkins and Tulsa, they assume it's just as violent and segregated in Hawkins as it is in Tulsa. They are wrong, but they don't go to Hawkins enough to see that.
Every item of clothing Ponyboy owns is a hand-me-down. He owns not one singular piece of his own clothing. The only non-hand-me-down thing he owns stays (Mostly) in Hawkins and it's a random shirt Billy bought for him as a birthday gift.
Hawkins middle and high doesn't allow hair products (other than hair spray), so Ponyboy isn't allowed to wear grease, leaving him to put it in before he gets home or make up an excuse as to why he doesn't have it
(His family has NEVER caught him with his hair ungreased in public, or even at home. Like. Their's it's always greased back. They have probably only seen his actual hair a hand full of times)
Dustin and Pony have the strongest friendship and always hang out.
Pony and Dustin are like Steve (Harrington's) little brothers. He treats them like the older Curtis brothers treat Johnny and Pony.
Ponyboy can use a gun, he has the best shot (canon) and Nancy would sometimes let him practice with her revolver.
(Later, she let's him use a gun in one of the fights)
Pony calls Steve 'Harrington' because 'Steve' is his brothers name. Steve Harrington has zero idea why he calls him by his last name, but Pony is the only person in the entire Hawkins town he let's call him that.
Robin clocked his gay ass instantly. Didn't even need to see him and Lucas kiss, she just laid eyes upon him and said "That's gng"
