Hi, I'm Malka

I am a lot of things. Mainly I am tired.

I use they/she

I'm Jewish and tired and those things are related so if you're gonna be weird about it go ahead and block me. I don't want to see you.

I would say my main fandom but that'd be a lie because I don't have one. I like stuff. Stuff is cool. If I talk about a fandom it'll probably one of the following: Dear Evan Hansen, Dead Poets Society, Suffs, Jujutsu Kaisen, The Outsiders, or Falsettos.

If you like some of this stuff and also other stuff then I am always open to recommendations and love trying out new books / movies / documentaries / tv shows / musicals / you get it.

I also post about the most random, mundane shit that happens to me as if anyone cares. I don't tag it, so there's no way to avoid it.

Some more stuff: I love translation and know several languages, I write a lot, I am trying to be more positive, I use British spellings of words but am technically American, I like science but hate physics with a burning passion

but: consider. if u genuinely like analyzing writing.. do u know ur just allowed to go through and quote your favorite parts and ramble abt what they mean to u and the author will LOSE IT WITH HYPE?

genuinely. i felt SO WEIRD the first time i did it.. but like. holy shit authors love it. its crack for authors. the first time i did it, it was on a fic that hadnt updated in half a year, give or take, and the author made 3 updates that month BECAUSE OF MY COMMENT.

LIKE. as an author every comment is INCREDIBLE!!! but also, dont feel like your comment has to be short or otherwise ur invasive or smth!! authors ADORE long comments more than ANYTHING.

stratt and grace and the rest of the phm science team running on 4 cumulative hours of sleep at an unscheduled conference. dimitri and lokken are trying to explain a new complication in the hail mary's fueling system and the resources necessary to iron it out but they keep getting interrupted by government officials butting in until grace (who doesn't even look up from his laptop and checked out of the conversation two days ago) snaps "we raise our hands to speak"

complete silence for like 3 seconds. the french prime minister sheepishly raises his hand and stratt smiles for the first time that week (grace buries his entire head behind his laptop screen for wont of a better option, like jumping straight into the sea)

You ever think about many peices of media have zero women and thats just perfectly normal but if a peice of media has an all female cast people get... like that? Women should be allowed to kill over this btw

Actually I’m not done talking about Darry and cops in the movie.

Darry has the same line in the movie as in the book when Ponyboy comes home late: “and I can't even call the cops, because you two would be thrown in boys' home so fast it would make your head spin.” Then the movie repeats his line from the book again before the rumble, “Sodapop, you and Ponyboy, if the fuzz show, beat it out of there. We'll get jailed, but you two will get the boys' home.” Cut to the end of the movie when the cops shoot Dally and the gang is screaming, shouting words we don’t hear in the book, and what the movie chooses to make Darry scream is “you stupid freaks!”

Darry has spent the whole story trying to keep himself and his brothers out of trouble with the police. He knows he can’t go to the cops for help the way upright citizens can; that in fact any situation where he might most need their help is one they would use to cause his family the most damage. He knows the cops aren’t on his side, that he’s of the class they’re designed to punish, not protect. But he has to toe the line if he wants to keep his brothers, so he appeases the system at least to an extent, in the hopes that it won’t punish his family quite as harshly.

And then the cops just shoot one of his friends dead in the street. And Darry, who’s tried so hard not to attract the attention of authority figures and definitely not to piss them off, just loses it. He is out of fucks to give. His cry isn’t an appeal like Two-Bit’s “he’s just a kid!” Darry yells at them and hurls insults at them, loudly, angrily, and for probably the first time since his parents died, he can’t bring himself to care about the consequences. It’s not that Darry has nothing left to lose. He very much still does, in the form of Soda and Pony. Obviously his reaction is first and foremost visceral and spontaneous, and watching one of his own getting riddled with bullets right in front of him overrides his judgement.

At the same time, his judgement has probably never been more clear. In that moment, it’s painfully, infuriatingly clear that the cops will do whatever the fuck they want no matter what he does, that the worst thing they could possibly do they’ve already done; that there’s no way for guys like him and his gang to avoid consequences because their mere existence is the consequence.

I love how some fics are called shit like "They Only Shoot The Birds Who Cannot Sing" and it's like the most insane porn you're ever read and then some fics are called Spit On Me and it's 18,000 words of the most achingly id-scratching prose you've ever read and they're both. They're both so fucking good. thank God for fanfiction.

sometimes i have strong opinions but they're also so inane that halfway through writing a post i'll be like "yeah, this is Absolutely not worth the energy it's taking" and delete everything. but then the opinion is still in my head. and i still want to share it. so within five minutes i go "you know, i bet i can phrase it more succinctly this time" and anyway. you all see where this is going. sometimes i do this four times in a row before i give up on the specific inane opinion and instead write a vague post about the concept of opinions as if that'll satisfy the urge to post the entirety of my inner monologue online. may or may not be relevant to what you're reading right now. and now all our lives have been enriched. you're welcome
