I’ve been slowly working on illustrating my own Tarot deck about black cats.

I have a long way to go, but I’m nearly done with the major arcana.

Here are some of my favorites:

I set myself a design challenge (as I often do). I wanted to limit the color palette and the brush styles to create a very consistent look.

And since each card focuses on black cats, it forces me to think deeply about symbolism and design to make sure the meaning of each card is clear and each design is unique.

But there’s still a lot of variety coming through. It’s not all class, or all silliness - just like cats

I have a forearm tattoo of the cats in this one ☝️

I’m so happy with how both of these two managed to feel dark, but adorable at the same time.

And then there’s this one absolute diva:

Most of these used my own feline friends for reference.

There are more but I don’t know yet how many I want to share online. If I can actually complete the entire deck I would love to have it made. But I have a ways to go, so for now I continue to chip away, one card at a time.

Is this only for people who never use mods? No, not at all! This is open to everyone to use only vanilla, even if you normally enjoy using other tools

Do I have to do all the prompts? No, you can do those you want to!

Why a whole month? I suck at doing challenges that are one day/prompt, so this is for me and any fellow slowpokes

Can I use any post processing tools, such as photoshop? I think this goes against the spirit of the challenge, which is to highlight the built in tools

Can I enhance my gposes with AI? NOPE

Can I post this challenge on bluesky, twitter, pillowfort, etc Sure! I will not be tracking anything there but feel free to post it there if you want

Realized that while I said I post Bert/Axel a lot, that was not actually true, because my brain was counting all the shit I slap against my Discord window and yell at people to look at. Which, oddly enough, does not show up on Tumblr!

When we were chatting about how Shadowbringers would work with the polycule (Bert has been elected sole WoL, the others are Scions), it was decided Axel spent his time on the First before Bert showed up with the Night's Blessed. So for this set I apparently decided Axel helped Bert dress to blend in better. For reasons?
