RYAN GOSLING "I'm Just Ken" wins Best Original Song at the 29th Annual Critics' Choice Awards (January 14, 2024)
... Or could be a combination of things like... "Did a Barbie song, just win a prestigious award?", "How did a song about 'Being Ken-ough' beat out...", "Am I being pranked?", "something is fishy and it's not the plastic ocean water" And the song isn't about guy doing the bare minimum, its about male expectations (being hansoms, a provider, a protector, caretaker, cook, doctor, survivalist, planner, scientist, enforcer, leader, lawmaker, builder, repairman, overall tough physically, spiritually, emotionally, mentally and a few I'm possibly forgetting or to lazy and tired to put more thought into rn) and whether or not him being himself is actually enough. because the world demands more of men then women. Expectation for most women: Mother/wife/housekeeper (which covers a quarter of the same expectations), that's it; if you want more responsibilities that's on you, not the men around you.
