you haven’t heard from daniel for a whole month.

while you wouldn’t say you were codependent by any means, it has been the longest period of time you went without any information from him.

it is a strange position to be in. after his previous absence to infiltrate the second affiliate, daniel disappeared again after saying something about wanting to take charge and become better. you wonder if you should worry again, but he does send you a message every morning to reassure you that he’s alive.

but it is strange, not only daniel but zack is also gone. your weird position is both figurative and literal. the two empty spots surround your seat in the classroom, one to your side for daniel and one behind you for zack. nobody knows what they got into, except you: the blessing and the curse. in the beginning, you were worried about zack for a while. but when zack texted you with pictures of a temple, you no longer wanted to know more.

and then, after radio silence from the two of them for weeks straight, daniel calls you. one weekend morning while you’re lying in bed with your phone. seeing his name popping up alone almost have you dropped it on your face, however, you recover quickly and scramble to accept his call.

Sally exchanges another look with Warren, he returns her his own confusion. Something about this feels strange.

But there is no way she can have this conversation with him behind Eli's back if he cannot understand what's going on. Really, Sally'd never expect Eli of all people to be the one ending up with a sugar mommy. Then again, none of them expects Yenna to come when she did either. Life is full of strange things that Sally wants to avoid, but it appears she has no choice this time around. Not to mention, she was not in Eli's position. Raising Yenna mustn't have been easy, it is no wonder Eli has to resort to this.

As Sally watches Eli putting Yenna's toys into a basket, her heart aches for him. Maybe with their help, Eli would no longer have to get the money that way anymore. However, if he chooses to continue with this path, everyone in Hostel will have to make peace with it somehow. Sally rolls her shoulder, bracing herself for what is to come. She will do better this time, she will be supportive.

"You left the door opened."

Just as that thought concludes, a new voice comes up from behind them. Sally becomes paralyzed. She knows her resolved only settled a moment ago, yet she does not expect the next challenge to come this quick. No matter how she puts it, she's not ready to face Eli's sugar mommy.

"Huh, hey," Warren is the one to respond before Sally. His face lacks the surprise she expects from him. Whether it's because he's unmoved by anything, she doesn't know, but it's not a response one should make to their friend's sugar mommy. Eli's glucose mother!

Sally turns slowly, her eyes open until the tiny peek turns into full-on eye contact with the newcomer. This girl is even more out of place here than the crib at the corner of Eli's room. None of the words in Sally can describe this girl in full except "opulence."

"And you are…" Sally begins, tentatively. However, before she has the chance to hear the answer from you, Eli is the one to answer her, joining the three of you from further in the room.

"The friend I mentioned," Eli explains in succinct terms, "she's going to babysit Yenna for today's afternoon so I can move."

With that, he hands you Yenna. The little girl giggles in increasing excitement as she sees you, hands reaching out to grab for you. "Mama!"

You smile at her call, accepting her into your arms with practised ease. "Yes, mama's here. We're going to have so much fun today. Right, Yenna?"

"Mama…?" Sally turns to stare at Eli. His eyes widen, and his mouth opens then closes. The struggle to explain draws clear on his face. However, that conversation has to wait for later, you are the one to interrupt it from happening.

"Well, I'll be taking my leave," you nod at the three of them, "call me when you're done."

The last of your words are aimed toward Eli. However, he only replies with a distracted, "Okay," then he fixes on a small smile, false cheer evident, "you two have fun!"

Sally is appalled, not knowing what to make of the exchange. However, Eli only takes your taunt with a feigned offence, "Ah, that hurts me in here." He clutches his chest but continues to maintain his smile. This time, it's genuine.

To Sally's further shock, Yenna shows no resistance while you walk away with her. In fact, she even turns to wave at Eli. "Ba! Papa!" Something which turns Eli's affection into another form of softness. The entire exchange is nothing out of ordinary, yet it is utterly bizarre in Sally's eyes.

Once you're out of the earshot, Sally turns her heel on Eli, "Mama?"

He bites down on his lower lip. Whatever he has in mind, it's not easy to put into words. Sally can see that and the need to pull back from this aggression arises in her. She sighs, relenting to give him the slip. "All right, but we'll need to have a serious talk about this later. Especially the mama thing."

"Oh," Eli smiles awkwardly, "I can explain that now actually, she just spends a lot of time babysitting Yenna, so hence."

"And she makes Yenna call her mama?" Sally frowns.

Sally eases her tension a little, it makes sense… but at the same time, it doesn't sit with her. "Are you dating her?" Sally nods towards your exit once more. "Is that why she's helping you?"

Somehow, Eli's fluster vanishes to leave places for something worse. Sadness. "…No, we're only friends and I don't think it's possible either. Her helping with Yenna is already more than I can ask for… I can't possibly…" He sighs. "I know my place, I'm happy with what I have. It's already more than I deserve. If I get any greedier about it… she's a good friend, I don't want to lose her."

No matter how many questions she has, Sally has to accept that pushing it further at this moment would do no one any good. She steps back, and a sigh passes her lips, "I understand but… Can you promise we'll make head and tail of this once we're back at home?"

"Promise," he says, "we can sit her down to talk about this if you want, I think she'd understand."

Sally presses her lips together, pondering that thought. "I'll think about it, but I want to talk to you about it first before anything. But if you're happy…" She says. "What else can we do except be happy for you?"

Momentary puzzlement takes over Eli's features, "I don't like her simply because she's pretty… Wait, is it that obvious that I like her?"

You struggle to breathe, taking in shaky gasps of air as with every rise of your chest, a wave of new pain washed over you. Your lungs crackle as you try to keep quiet, yet you could hardly keep your eyes open, much less control your breathing. The wheezes slipping past your lips almost taunted your beloved as he shook, his gaze shifting back and forth to the gushing wound and back to your tired eyes.

"Samuel…," you whisper, trying to hold your head up as you feel yourself start to slip away. He ignored you, babbling to himself as he tried his best to stop the blood from seeping out. Once again, you call out to him,  "Sam…"

Samuel shook his head fervently, deciding that the only chance to save you was to run with you in his arms. "No, no, no, please, [Name], darling, d-don't fall asleep, okay? D-Don't fall asleep, don't close your eyes on me!” He shouts, trying to stay calm as he hoists you up and holds you close, running back in the direction he came, ignoring the thick raindrops now pelting his body. “H..Help is coming, you just have to try and stay awake…!"

"But, I'm… I'm so tired… Can't I close them…?" You inhale deeply, eyes falling shut and slowly fluttering open. "Just for a bit…?"

“No, darling, not until we get to the hospital! Just…Just…” The oxygen in Samuel’s lungs began to dissipate faster than he anticipated, only further enraging him as his body began to betray him in his time of need. A choked sob left him, but his feet still pounded against the wet concrete, even as he began to struggle.

A faint laugh reached his ears and finally, Samuel looked down at you. He was met with glossy eyes and a trembling smile. “Y’know….I never thought… you would only cry when I'm like this, Samuel… Not even once did I imagine it… Not even… if we got married... " Your smile fell and you let out a sob , frowning as tears started to cascade down your cheeks. “I thought… you didn’t love–love me anymore… hah…”

"No! Please, no! Don't say that, idiot! We… We'll get married, okay? When you get better, we'll get married and have the biggest wedding Gangdong has ever seen, okay? Gonna… Gonna make you the prettiest bride ever…"

"And… and have lots of kids…," you whimper, giving a weak grin. He gives a strained laugh, nodding. "I.. I hope… we have a kid.. just like you, Samuel…" 

Samuel stopped in his tracks and slowly, he crouched down. He laid your lower half on the concrete,  supporting your head with his chest as your back rested against his forearm. The two of you now sat in the middle of the street, the sound of the pouring rain engulfing you two.

You continued to speak to the best of your ability, tiredly putting a hand to his face, only for it to start slipping. Quickly, he put his own hand over yours, holding it to his cheek as he attempted to feel your gentle touch as long as possible. "I hope they're kind and… sweet, like you… smart and ambitious… just like their father…,” you said quietly, head lulling. Samuel bites his bottom lip, grinding his teeth and giving your hand a tight squeeze. Your breathing became ragged, your chest hardly moving as you lost more blood. Yet, even in the face of death, you still held the same smile he fell in love with. "Perfect just like you…"

With the last bit of strength, you whisper the six words he always took for granted, driving the wedge into his heart deeper. "I.. I love you… Samuel… s-so... much. I…"

“Shh, [Name], don’t….okay? I love you too. So fucking much…. And I’m so sorry… for everything” He cries, tears learning his vision. If only he wasn’t blinded with his selfish desires, perhaps then would you be in your shared home, safe and sound. 

However, Samuel would never know the alternate reality. Eyes falling shut, a smile of content stays on your face as you relax against your beloved, your arm falling limp as you take your final breath.

Time stopped in that moment as you passed and all Samuel could do was lament. 

All he could do was regret every choice he made and mourn for the loss of the only girl he ever cared for — you.

With a heavy heart, he became even more malicious and twisted, drowning himself in his work, trying to forget your face, yet he could never escape. Your smile plagued his dreams and nightmares, no amount of alcohol could make him forget you, no matter how hard he tried. Samuel could never stop loving you, even in death.

The tattoos you once loved grew as he inked his skin more and more, painting his flesh with your name yet never daring to have his gaze linger on it for too long, knowing he would start to cry and fall deeper into the pool of sorrow. So on the days he did, he would be alone and drink, reminiscing of his past.

Yet, sometimes late at night, he swore he saw you in front of him, having him reach out and try to grab you, crying out your name, only for him to realize his mind was playing tricks on him.

And with his ego, Samuel knew he lost.

This man didn't notice anything at first, you were so cheerful and there wasn't anything that alerts him or can make alarm bells ring inside of his head, well, save for the supposed clinging. But Gun sucks it up to be your love language of some sort, he loves it when you cling to him.

He loves it when you depend on him, your arm intertwining with his while your head lays on his shoulder. Heaven.

But somewhat after he does notice some of your clinging tendencies worsen, for example, like, being in distress when he's about to leave for work, excessive worry about him dying or getting injured, and worried about unexpected events that may cause Gun to be gone for weeks or even worse months. He thought of it as you being too overly worried for him and he likes it, no one has ever cared for him this personally before.

Of course, with love comes with dislike. Gun's a man whose very purpose is to be an enigma, a mystery that is supposed to be solved by other people. He has a lot of secrets and his line of work is dangerous. He is worried about you coming with him when he's at work. Also, all of his colleagues are weirdos and he doesn't want their germs infecting you.

The man is blunt and would ask you to back off, he's tired from work and he wants some space for himself too. Of course, he feels guilty for saying that to you but there's little to bear with, when you explain to him that you have separation anxiety, his guilt will double.

"Don't be sorry [y/n], text me, or even call me if you ever feel distressed. I don't guarantee that I can pick up or answer you immediately and if I am free I would text you back or answer your call. I assure you, I will always come back home to you. You will never be left alone ever again with me by your side, got that?"

He became much more lenient than before, he will also buy you a lot of things that remind you of him.

Samuel Seo:

He knows that you have separation anxiety and kind of uses it against you sometimes (sorry for all the Samuel Seo fans out there.) With how this man has been hell-bent on making Gapryong Kim notice him and be proud of his accomplishments when he was a middle schooler, he would have some issues too.

Especially when he found out that his father wasn't the one he had been expecting, and when Samuel strangled the life out of the man, and as Samuel watched the light in those orbs get sucked out of those eyes that looked characteristically similar to his, he gets jealous.

And now he's stuck with a never-ending inferiority complex that can never be healed, of course, when he started to date you, his inferiority complex has slightly gotten better, especially with how cheerful you are, your cheerfulness makes his day a whole lot better.

He's lowkey boasting about his relationship with you with Jake, "see that, you might be Gapryong Kim's son, but have you ever experienced an s/o's touch before? No. You're just a virgin." Okay, I don't exactly see him saying that but it kind of does look like that when he gloats to Jake.

And when he finds out that you get anxious or distressed when he's separated from you? Eugene's tired of his bullshit but he's good with what he does that's why he just pays no mind to it.

Samuel slams down a folder that holds hundreds of paperwork that involves the third and fourth affiliates and explains the summary with quick speed to Eugene causing everyone to almost have nosebleeds with how fast he is talking, though everyone can still perfectly and clearly understand him, his reports were always sincere and with perfect clarity after all.

After the full-on fucking rap from Samuel, he sits himself down calmly before taking out his phone with a smile on his face, Eli just looks at him weirdly while Warren is full-on gawking and Nomen is just there needing a fucking translation on what the shitstorm Samuel just said.
