This year I want to try and post something (at least) once a week so we'll see how that goes.

I love how they didn't make her the typical Girl™ character whose whole personality is being the only girl
I love how she's GENUINELY a great captain who knows how to play to her teams strengths and how to encourage everyone, how she didn't quite understand what was happening with Key but was still supportive, and didn't give up on him, and made clear that she believed in him and that his team was there to support him no matter what
I also love how she's not one of those characters who are Perfect and Have No Flaws, I love how she doesn't immediately Know what she's doing when she becomes captain like she has years of experience like some shows and movies tend to do and how even though she's still learning, she still gives it her all and how she learns quickly cause she actually put in the effort
I love how she's stubborn in the best way and resilient, and how even though everyone is saying their team isn't gonna work (students, teachers, the general public and even her teammates) she still doesn't give up
I love how much effort she actually puts into her team
I love how she believes in them
I love her and ameline's relationship
I love her cool ass tama and also how it perfectly fits their stadium's goal like it was destined to
The problem with being a Creative Person is I want to create all the things. I want to draw a little drawing. I want to write a fic. I want to write a book. I want to paint with watercolors. I want to paint with oil paints. I want to animate. I want to make something out of clay. I want to sew a dress. I want to play a song on the ukulele. I want to play a song on the cello. I want to play a song on the harp. I want to write a song. I want to write a musical. I want to make a webcomic. I want to make a video game.
I want to do EVERYTHING but I don’t have the TIME or MONEY or MOTIVATION
Hi, just read the running blind fic and this will sound evil—
I need an angst version where Scout doesn't make it—
hey you posted this on anon so i don’t mind making this the effigy for me being pretty annoyed about something on main
just to be clear, you came into my inbox asking me to write… 60k or so words, based on a different fanfiction i already wrote almost a decade ago, as just sort of a casual ask, phrased as “i need this”. my curiosity is why you don’t, for example—i mean this constructively—go write it, then? chop chop.
i like writing. i do. getting asks in my inbox with requests and ideas and concepts has been fun for me over the years. warms my heart. im really not asking you to suck my dick, here. but i’ve noticed a growing trend that will of course infect older fandoms last, where people will hop into the inbox of someone and just sort of go “hey, can i have xyz?”
can you make a fic of xyz happening?” you just did that yourself. you just wrote a fic in your mind. have you thought about… making it? just. writing it? you can just write it. you have the ability to do that. “it won’t be good—“ arguable. try writing it.
most egregious to me is always for visual artists. “hey can you draw xyz?”, while that person’s commissions stay open, while that person reblogs their friends’ open commission sheets, while people everywhere are running discounted commissions to fundraise out of a bad situation. but, hey, for me, though? free? i don’t want to so why don’t you?
stop it. over the years people have written fics inspired by my stuff (i love you all very much), and some have been so direct as to rip the premise entirely, and i say more power to ‘em! go write an alternate ending and post it on ao3. that’s fun. that’s community. that’s what fandoms are built off of. we’re already doing fanwork, for god’s sake. go make stuff. get out of people’s inboxes asking “when will your comic be done”, “when will your next animatic be up”, “when will there be more content, i want to consume content, give me content”. go make shit. you’re bored. pick the pen up, open the notes app. write directly in your drafts. i don’t care.
“can you write your fanfiction but in the way i’m imagining it?” your chatGPT usage is showing. go write it! go on! i’m encouraging you! go write that!
Pre-menstrual depression is always depicted as like "He He! I had a box of icecream bars and cried while watching the Titanic!" But in reality, it's more like, "I'm standing the edge of an abyss. There is nothing good inside of me, I'm filled with rage and desperation."
It's crazy that being told how to deal with that is never a part of anyone's menstrual sex education.
This has already been said in the notes, but if PMS causes extreme depression and even suicidal ideation, that is in fact something that most people do not experience and it can be treated
Like for the majority it really is "oh i'm hungrier and moodier than usual"
^this should be a part of sex education so the point still stands
I went to my doctor after I was walking to work one morning and saw a bus coming and actually took a step to throw myself in front of it before I pulled myself together. Later that day I started bleeding and was literally like someone flipped a switch and I didn't feel suicidal anymore. Which made me feel like I was loosing my mind because who goes from 'I want to throw myself in front of a bus' to 'I'm perfectly fine' just like that? I did some research, I went to the doctor and described my feelings, he looked me in the eye and gently asked what I thought it was, I said I'd read about PMDD and I thought it might be that, he said 'I think so too' and wrote a prescription.
If, before you get your period, you feel furiously angry, suicidal, irritated by every tiny thing to the point you want to murder someone, stuck in a black hole you'll never escape from. If you are experiencing extreme emotions for what seems like no good reason, especially if you get your period and those extreme emotions just go away. You're probably not just PMSing , you may have PMS's feral big sister PMDD and it's treatable.
Also this is something that can develop as you get older. So if you used to get normal PMS but what I wrote above sounds more like your norm now then don't just write it off as regular PMS.
Mechanic (Demeas)- Demeas, son of Democrates, was born and raised in Syracuse. He comes from a long line of intellectuals and inventors. He sawed off his arm and replaced it with a complicated prosthetic to prove a point. Demeas is a hard worker and often loses track of time while working on his projects. He is friendly when around people and likes to cook for his teammates. He, Taran, and Haribert work together a lot and bond over a shared love of science. He wears light, loose-fitting clothing since his role has little combat. He wears a sundial that was passed down through the generations. When I drew him with a beard, I did not intend for him to look like Socrates, but here we are.
Spear bearer (Menecreates)- Menecreates left his mother and sisters in Mytilene to earn some money and kill people. His spears are heavy, and he takes care of (and names) each one. He is soft spoken and intelligent, but also violent. His shield serves as decoration more than protection. He works well with most of the other mercs and tolerates Ireneus. He spends his free time polishing his spears or talking with Haribert. His father was killed in the Mytilenean revolt, and he feels a sense of responsibility to protect his family. His dialect is very different from the more "central" ones the others have, which causes some language barrier.
Observer- The observer is an Athenian spy. He does not share personal information. He is one of the more isolated group members, and he has no problem with that. He wears fine linen and soft leather sandals that allow him to move quietly. He used to wear lots of oils and perfumes, but had to stop because enemies could smell him before he could backstab them. He relies on a small dagger to get the job done. In terms of relationships, he has more enemies than friends. He has a little in common with Haribert and Demeas, and sometimes fraternizes with them. He butts heads with Ireneus a lot.
Chemist (Taran)- As a chemist, Taran uses his knowledge to create various combustible substances and brew beer. He lost his eye in an explosion, but he is still just as dangerous without depth perception. He wears bronze armor, a tunic, and a cape, which is a lot for the Mediterranean, but he looks cool, and that's all that really matters. He is friendly with the enemy hoplite and often sneaks out to hang out with him.
Surgeon (Haribert Hludwig)- Haribert came from Germania to study Greek forms of medicine, and also to flee the penalties for medical malpractice. He wears a cloak and chiton, which he dries his hands on, but in the cases where he goes on the battlefield, he wears more protective armor. Since this is taking place (very roughly) around the 400 bcs and Archimedes (the person) lived around 200 years later, Archimedes (the dove) is not named after him. It's just a coincidence. Medic's prescription is pretty low, so he doesn't wear glasses, even though Demeas offered. He is happy just to experiment in his iatreion, tend to the doves, or chat with Menecreates.
Archer (Milon)- Milon was abandoned by his Cretan parents and found and raised by a Spartan couple. They tried their best to raise him as a hoplite, but his Cretan aim prevailed. He is patient and cautious in battle, which translates to his behavior out of battle. He and Ireneus "hang out" often, which basically constitutes Ireneus running around while Milon whittles. He is polite with the rest of the team. He and his parents exchange letters often. They don't agree with his lifestyle, but they love him nonetheless. He usually wears light linen and leather boots, given that he is a ranged fighter and there is less of a need for heavy armor. He has a water bladder for various liquids.
Foot soldier (Irene)- Irene is a Spartan hoplite. He was actually born underweight, and his parents abandoned him. Despite that, he somehow survived and became a Spartan hoplite. He has brain damage from past head trauma and other psychological issues, which have a huge impact on his personal relationships. He also has ear damage. He surprisingly gets along well with the other mercs, so long as they keep telling him that they are Spartans. He wears heavy armor, which is both protection and a symbol of honor. He rarely takes his helmet off, and he even sleeps in it sometimes.
Courier (Ireneus)- Ireneus has an Athenian father and a Corcyrean mother. He doesn't know his father's identity, only that he is Athenian, which he resents. He prides himself on his "λαγνεία βόμβος" tattoo, which he bears in honor of his idol Timaeus Jonas. He wears two small sticks with unique notches as a form of identification, aka dog tags. He doesn't wear shoes (against the Observer's demands) since footwear gives him blisters.
Fire-bearer- The fire-bearer wears a Greek chorus mask and bandages, either to hide nasty burn scars or their identity. No one on the team knows where they came from or their name. They (mis)use an incense burner by swinging it in a way to oxygenate the flames. They stick close to Irene and Ireneus, but are not at all opposed to playing with the other mercs or bothering the Observer.
I pumped this out pretty quickly, but I'm happy to answer questions/just talk about the au!! I understand that there are some inaccuracies, some of those are intentional. I'm really excited about this...
I should finish the side characters' designs today or tomorrow.
fandom etiquette as a whole died when people who didn’t grow up on fandoms became stans during lockdown, yes, but why am i seeing people openly mocking fics on twitter. why am i seeing screenshots of fics with captions like “bro what is this 😭.” why am i seeing people mock fic writers for not knowing how sports or theater or college or any other organization operates in the real world.
“college is absolutely nothing like this” “why are we writing four people on the team scoring a hat trick in one game” “so tech work is nothing like this, hope that helps!”
if you don’t like a fic, and if you can’t suspend your belief enough to enjoy a fic that exaggerates or ignores real-world orgs, you don’t have to read it. you don’t have to screenshot it and put it on blast for twitter. you don’t have to post a link to it in the replies. the back button is literally there on your phone. it’s not giving baby’s first fandom anymore, it’s giving entitled asshole and it isn’t as cute as you think it is.
I found some Heavymedic angst doodles I hadn't finished! Exploring the Cheavy fight aftermath/being together again. They're in a shitty little motel in the two sketches
Both suffering in silence because it would be bad to make the other one worry, right?
