Most people don’t understand how easy and common it is to develop psychotic symptoms or that everyone literally everyone has the capacity to experience psychosis
In fact if you’ve ever been sleep deprived including being able to sleep in shorter bursts but unable to get several REM cycles or you use substances to cause sedation rather than sleep you’ve likely experienced mild hallucinations already
They’re called disturbances. The things like thinking you heard someone call your name, feeling crawling sensation on your skin briefly, seeing things move in your peripheral but nothings there when you look.
This is (one of the reasons) why I really hate the “I’m [anxious/ADHD/depressed/etc.] not crazy!” The divide you draw between yourself and people with psychosis and psychotic symptoms only serves to harm. Not only those you alienate but also yourself. Because you have no guarantee that you will not join us one day.
We are all several nights of poor or no sleep and several bad things away from psychosis. It serves no one to be ignorant of it.
During her cancer treatments, my mom was unable to sleep, at least undisturbed. She has said that she felt psychotic then, and I think about that comment often when I suffer from my chronic insomnia. I've also heard short conversations when I'm just about to fall asleep, thus jolting me back awake.
Psychotic symptoms and/or hallucinations are more common than you think.
When I see a video of a cat minding its own business with nothing else going on I unmute immediately cause I know that mf is about to make a funny noise

I just felt these tags were too important not to add @blacksasuke
The particular segment of medical racism that says ‘Black people are built tougher’ is a great example of why ‘positive’ stereotypes don’t exist.
Adding your tags, prev, cause.. yeah.
help me get my partner with MCAS stabilized
Hey all. The good news: I’ve found true love. The bad news: my lon… Ship D. needs your support for Help Me Get My Partner Wi
Hey all.
The good news: I’ve found True Love™️.
The bad news: my long-distance partner is disabled with worsening chronic illness and struggling to live alone in a state with very poor medical care. Most recently, a flareup of what we suspect to be MCAS (Mast Cell Activation Syndrome) has worsened every other ailment and severely limited what my partner can safely eat, touch, and inhale without risk of anaphylaxis.
This is scary for both of us. I’m in the process of trying to relocate, but my partner needs more support than can wait on me to find a remote job I can take with me. This GoFundMe is to help me afford to take time away from work (I do not get paid leave of any kind) and help get my partner stabilized with frozen meals and medical travel.
What your donation will help me cover:
-travel expenses
-food for me so I can avoid draining my partner’s supply of “safe” foods
-loss of 3 weeks income as I take unpaid time away from work
-more freedom to experiment with what my partner can safely tolerate; with MCAS, the only way to learn what is safe is through trial and error, as what is tolerated by one person may not be tolerated by another
The idea that trans women are just like, cosplaying women or something for some ulterior motive is so utterly absurd to me, especially when I consider what I and so many other trans women value most in our transitions, which really is the mundane. I don’t just “pretend” to be a woman in public, I am a woman always, and it’s at home when I am just doing the same things I have always done that I feel most fulfilled in my transition, like cooking dinner or lounging in my pyjamas or doing homework. I did not transition for some supposed social advantage but because my coffee tastes sweeter through the lips of the woman I am than the man I tried to be.

“average person eats 3 spiders a year” factoid actualy just statistical error. average person eats 0 spiders per year. Spiders Georg, who lives in cave & eats over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted

Callsigns are ALL like this. I know in movies everyone's got cool callsigns, but you have to EARN a cool callsign. Most people's are like, commemoration of something real stupid they did, or, like, "Carrots" bc "he ate carrots weirdly." This database is a treasure trove:
Also unironically if you are nb and have an "object" name you can 100% get old republicans to use it by just claiming it's for something dumb. "Yeah man I go by Brick because I dropped a bunch of bricks once and messed up a timeline on a job" will get everyone you will ever meet to call you that.
Look. This isn't about policy, or anything, but the thing that makes me like Walz the most right now is that he will stop a speech mid-sentence and call for a medic if he sees someone staggering in the heat, then thank the people nearby the ailing person for looking after their neighbor.
It's happened twice, and he just brings things to a halt until he knows the person is okay and being looked after.
He's actually looking at the people in the crowd. Not past them, not through them, not counting bodies so he can brag about the size of his... crowd. He notices when people aren't doing okay, and he stops what he's doing to call for help.
It's such basic fucking human decency, and it's been a while since I've seen someone in politics be so reflexively decent that it really shook me (complimentary) the first time I saw it.
טים וואלז איז א מענטש.
Honestly, this underscores something that really strikes me about Walz as a VP pick:
He appears to be a decent human being.
Some of it is almost certainly the DNC’s propaganda machine highlighting electorate-friendly aspects of his past (he was a schoolteacher! he helped low-income kids get food! he likes hunting and fishing!) but the fact that the current Republican candidates, masters of name-calling and mud-dragging, haven’t been able to pin anything worse on him than “Tampon Tim” (because he *gasp* signed legislation mandating that menstrual products be made available in school bathrooms) really speaks volumes. As does the outpouring of people, many of whom are lifelong politicians from both sides of the aisle, standing up to vouch for his character.
What’s more, it’s not something the campaign has to highlight, because it’s clearly so internalized he doesn’t even think about it.
And on the one hand, it seems like such a low bar? But on the other…while I don’t know if this was an intentional move, it’s frankly genius strategy. Populism has been on the rise globally for years, and the Republican ticket is doing their best to take advantage by stoking the dark side of crowd mentality: fear, anger, suspicion, resentment. Which only serves to highlight the brighter side that Walz is inadvertently representing: fundamental human respect and care.
In a very real way, the Democratic ticket this year has morphed into a personification of the infamous rebuke that halted a similar era of suspicion and division: “Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency?”
I was honestly shocked by how many times I heard calls for a medic during all the rally coverage I've seen- and I've watched them all. It's happened SO MANY TIMES. People who genuinely care about us, not just waxing incoherent about themselves or crowd sizes, is a massive difference.
In 2016, over 75,000 mail-in ballots were left uncounted and discarded because they were received after mail-in voting deadlines, which all vary by state, according to CBS news.
Some states like California allow you to check with the Registrar of Voters on-line to verify both if a ballot has issued and if it was received to help prevent voting errors.
Remember, the most common forms of voter fraud are 1) gerrymandering, 2) voter suppression and 3) foreign participation through both lobbying and online misinformation.

petting someone else's pet: what a sweet girl. i am very gently stroking the top 7 furs on the tip of her head
petting your own pet: basically, she likes to be a bongo drum, like this
