A friendly Pokemon Ranger of the highest caliber. Kind, understanding, and capable, he has a tendency to form strong bonds with anyone who meets him in more than passing, whether they are reciprocated or not. Ward has struggled with his mental health for several years after an incident related to his job left him severely traumatized.
He lives in Floaroma Town with his daughter, Amber, and his five partners: Link, Sara, Viv, Vern, and Bruce. He is also frequently accompanied by his significant other, Summer Orange, and their partners.
More Bios and Rules beneath the cut
Link
Link is Ward’s Gallade partner. He was traditionally captured in a pokeball by Ward more than twenty years ago, although he is never seen stored in it, and it isn’t altogether clear whether said pokeball still exists or not. He is very serious and highly protective of Ward and his partners, often operating on his own to ensure their safety. In addition to being a natural fighter, he and Viv form the core of Ward’s emergency care abilities.
Sara
Sara is Ward’s Roserade partner. She is very intuitive with emotions, and often resists changes to Ward’s inner circles. She originally belonged to someone very close to Ward, and they were recently reunited after nearly five years apart. She is a highly capable battler, and often joins Ward during raids on gang and poacher hideouts together with Bruce.
Viv & Vern
Ward’s Ninetails partners, they are rarely seen apart. Vern is a standard Ninetails, and joined Ward as a Vulpix shortly after his graduation from the Ranger Academy. Viv followed Vern back to camp during a mission in Alola, and has been Ward’s partner since. The pair are quite mischievous, and more prone to playing than Ward’s other partners. Their abilities make them quite useful on infiltration missions.
Bruce
Bruce is a Pangoro who Ward rescued from an abusive coordinator as a Pancham. Somewhat shy and very quiet, Bruce is slow to anger, but very few things have been known to be able stop him once he has been incited to action. His passive nature makes him unsuitable for most missions; however, an internalized hatred of pokemon abusers makes him a force to be reckoned with when facing off against such villains. His naturally immense strength also makes him quite useful in disaster relief efforts.
Amber McCollough
Ward's daughter from a past relationship. She had been living with her mother's parents until their recent passing. She is curious and precocious, but somewhat shy, often clinging to Ward or one of her pokemon if in their presence. Her current team consists of a few pokemon given to her by her family: Tara the snom, Meg the thwakey, and Mick, the toxel.
Holly Southshore
Ward’s younger sister. She lives in Laverre Town with her Baltoy, Tater, her Bewear, Bertha, her smeargle, Vincent, and her Aegislash, Buck, along with her husband, Barry, and his partners. She takes care of pokemon whose trainers are on vacation, and is a noted artist in the region. She can be a bit coarse sometimes.
Amelia Laburnum-Terauta
Ward’s mother, and renowned professor of inter-species communication. Her Beheeyem, Fi, and her Magnezone, Xen, assist her in her studies.
Ilmarinen Terauta
Ward’s father, a drifter with a penchant for archeology. He is often seen with his Jumpluff, Fluffy, and his Mincino, Stella.
Rules
I’m really laid back. It’s a problem. As long as you’re having a good time, I usually don’t mind where an RP goes or what it contains. All I ask is that you don’t take agency away from me by god-modding or controlling my characters (unless otherwise discussed).
Due to the more open nature of the bonds between a ranger and their partners, Ward's pokemon partners are free to accompany other trainers, rangers , or coordinators without his knowledge or approval. Translation: Ward's partners can be interacted with alone, and, if you ask me beforehand, they can join you in other threads that I am not writing in.
If you want to start something, just let me know. I'm currently experiencing writer's block, so I will probably ask to plot any threads at the moment. If I am familiar with your character and their skills, I may leave extra information in the tags for your character to notice or not notice depending on what strikes your fancy.

If you would like to have a tag for your blog, let me know.
I am archiving this blog and dropping all ongoing threads. I've been wanting to resurrect these characters for a while, but wanted to move away from being pigeonholed into action-oriented threads. If you are interested, you can follow @xrangerw to see where the new direction is taking us.

Amber strolled down the path toward the Ironworks with Tara riding in her hood. As she began to climb a small pile of rocks, a sphere of purple haze began to shimmer around her. She quickly descended the rocks and ran toward the edge.
Send me “alt!” for me the mun to introduce you to a character I’ve roleplayed in the past, want to play in the future or are currently playing somewhere else entirely.
“I don’ get it.” Ailani shrugged, “What’s da big deal?”
“W-What’s the big deal? The mother of a man I caused nothing but trouble for is coming over to help with research. W-What if I say or do something wrong..?”
Both Lyra and Ailani waited, expecting some snippy comment from Xena. They turned to look at her empty chair. Lyra let out a sigh, “I-I wish she’d stop avoiding me..She can’t stay outside training forever.”
“Trust me, Ly-Ly, she’ll get ova it in no time. An’ if she don’t, well, it’s Xena. Dese tings happen.” Ailani shrugged casually. “What’s Ward’s mom gon’ research wit’ ya?”
Amelia walked over to her box of equipment and pulled a sleek, compact computer with a holo-screen and set it on a table. The machine beeped softly as it booted up before emitting a few floating screens.
“Let’s design a survey while we wait for our cab.”
"That's a given, yes. Perhaps also a health history... we can cross-reference age against the onset of geriatric conditions to quantify the aging process."
She tapped away rapidly, entering fields and generating tables.
"What say you dearie? This is your study, after all."

A hoarse roar sounded from the tiny nook, causing the ninetails to jump and bow nervously, whining.
“Hello? Miss Ranger?”
A woman followed up, her voice trembling.
“We’re in here! This big pokemon smashed a hole in the wall… And then this man pushed me inside before the lava came. He isn’t moving, and I think the pokemon has a broken hand!”
Halligan began barking at the roar, edging back to the lava.
Valerie scratched Halligan’s mane. “Alright, stay calm! I’m going to look at getting you out!” Looking down at the Ninetales, Valerie thought about the barrier. The woman didn’t mention any other pokemon there, other than the one who punched the hole. “Are there any other pokemon with you?”
Valerie couldn’t get Halligan to test the barrier with her on his back, he’d want to jump. But perhaps Ninetales could test it, if there were no other pokemon making the barrier.
Let’s try something new … Send me a 👌🗯 for a piece of advice from my muse. If you want you, you can send it on anonymous or even specify a topic you want some advice on.
Look, Rangers have a very important job. But when they don't do it right, people get hurt, and sometimes they die. Ward isn't perfect, he has a number of people's deaths to account for.
The ninetails shifted his front paws restlessly and whined as another tremor shook the mount. A roar echoed from deep within the cave, prompting him to take off toward it source.
As he barreled through the cave, he adeptly evaded the growing rivulets of lava that were spreading within. A low rumble pulsed through the surrounding rock, causing loose stones to rattle and shake.
Before long, he skidded to a halt in front of a deep flow of lava. On the other side, the top of a small nook could be seen. A film of shimmering light appeared to be covering the opening.
“Anyone here? Call out!” Valerie yelled again. The shimmering up ahead meant a pokemon or person was still there.
Halligan pranced in front of the lava like a distressed mudsdale. He sniffed some as he paced, frustrating the ranger on his back. He wanted to find a narrow spot, he was worried about rocks coming down or hurting the human if they were to cross.
“Halligan, back up,” Valerie instructed. Once the Arcanine did so, standing in place, Valerie surveyed the area again. She cupped her hands around her mouth. “Ranger here, anyone call out!”
