If Konru listened, they could've heard Solo's breath caught in his throat for a moment.

"I thought I got rid of it."

It was muttered, but then Solo spoke clearly.

"That's a picture of my mom."

It was short, and more clipped than his typical way of talking.

Solo looked at the picture, blinking a bit. "Oh, that's a old friend of mine from before I came here."

A slight pause,

"Well, I'm using the term "friend" loosely, more of he was one of he only people that weren't mean to me and we studdied together. I actually don't know much about him at all."

Solo fidgetted with his fingers, not making eye contact. Cogita was one of the weird people, being in a situation where he didn’t outright avoid her, but talking still wasn’t easy, and he often just found himself listening to her stories and writing down the stories of Kanto and Johto in return. He took a small breath, before speaking.

“Cinnabar.”

A pause,

“It’s a city from the region I’m from.”

“ Cinnabar… “ The name rolls easily enough off the tongue. Despite being unfamiliar with the modern home Solo spoke of, the word itself was surprisingly similar to something from the Celestica tongue. More than likely coincidence for her to mull over in the privacy of her retreat. Out of respect for their anxieties she’ll keep her attention on the Typholosion rather than attempt to lock their gaze. Making the poor soul uncomfortable is the last thing she ever wants to do.

“ What an interesting name for a city. May I ask what it was like there? “

Cinnabar was more than happy to have the attention on him, it kept his trainer calm and he got pets out of it, it's a win-win scenario!

Solo thought about it, a small hum coming from him. "It was a island off the main part of the region. The only ways to get to and from it are either by air or by sea. It's where one of the gym leaders for the Kanto-Johto league are, he used fire type Pokemon and you had to answer quiz questions in order to get to him. There was also a research lab there, they were most known for the ability to revive fossils, and being the first place to do that. There was also a old mansion, apparently it was also a research facility, but something bad happened there before I was born, and it ended up becoming a place to find wild Pokemon."

For some odd reason, while being perfectly at home in snow, Konru hated rain. More specifically, they hated being stuck out in it and especially being drenched down to the bone by it. Rain wasn’t snow. Even wading through spring slush was better than being caught in a downpour like this.

Grumbling silently to themself, with water streaming down and dripping off their hair and face, head down to keep it out of their eyes, they hurried over the hillside in search of something to hide under. Froslass drifted above them like a white spectre in an attempt to block some of the downpour.

Bah, they wouldn’t have come out here today if they’d known this would happen! The sky had been perfectly clear earlier. It was just bad luck.

Konru’s ears heard a shout, and they lifted up their head to see Solo and his Typhlosion huddled under one of the scattered stands of trees on the ridge. They immediately adjusted their course and made a beeline for the tree, plopping themself on the cold ground next to Solo and Cinnabar.

“Miserable,” they muttered. Apparently, that was the best they could manage as a greeting right now. They looked it, drawing up and hugging their knees like a scolded child. Froslass wiped some of the water off their head with her hand, and offered Solo and Cinnabar a little bow.

"Nice to see you too, Konru, Froslass."

As Solo moved to adjust his Survey Corps uniform, Cinnabar moved so he was laying next to Konru and providing them with heat as well. He gave a friendly wave to the Froslass, before glancing at his trainer again.

"Crazy how fast it started raining....all the Pokemon in the area scattered off, so the research is currently on hold..."

If someone from modern day showed up and offered to take Solo back to his time, he doesn't know if he'll take it. He's thought about it, but hasn't come to a clear decision.
