I started making my OCs' parents with facts, starting with Joan Akari

Ruki, Joan's mother, has a slow, untreatable disease that decays the body from the inside out, which can leave her in an agonizing, paralyzed state most of the time.

Joan's father, Greg, fled to Taiwan after hearing that there would be no cure, unfortunately leaving Joan and his mother behind when they were in a poor state to start a new life and family with Luca's mother.

Ruki moved Joan to her brother's farm to have a better place to live, knowing that her condition would only get worse from there, even though her brother doesn't have much room for Joan in his hut, but Joan's uncle, Nataski, was still willing to bring him, and sooner or later, Luca would move in too.

When Joan and Luca grew up, Nataski gave up most of his life savings for them to move away to a better place, even though it was not going to be enough for them to buy a small place to live in.
