i feel like sp*ffy is way more of an example of a woman’s story being made about a man. like with bangel the relationship was about both of them, but the show was solely about buffy, it was her story. obviously angel started getting more pov when he got his own show, but for the first four seasons of btvs the story was Buffy’s. however around season 5 the show started to slowly become more and more about spike and put buffy more into the position of being his love interest. like spike started to take over the show’s narrative and i hated it.

Yup! The epitome of that is S7 when the abuse BUFFY suffered from him and her trauma is never touched and instead SHE spends the entire season coddling HIM -- her abuser, because he feels "bad". Or better yet: because he felt SO bad that he had to go and get himself a soul :( now he's hurting :((

It's terrible and disgusting and horrible and I want to believe it's also incredibly dated and it wouldn't fly as easy nowadays but who am I kidding?? There are new fans to this show everyday absolutely salivating over that.
