Despite my post and the responses to it, donāt get me wrong- I do like Remus, he makes me incredibly happy, and I donāt think heās evil.Ā Thatās not my intention at all, I donāt think him some horrible power, or rapist, or abuser.
Let me get this through to you right now; this is NOT about the Sides, who is evil, who is not. Who is okay to like, who is not- this is about the FANDOM.
The difference in reaction is stifling- Deceit was calm and collected where Virgil lashed out at him, and he was stripped down to nothing but a manipulator, an abuser, based off nothing but the fandomās reaching assumptions about a character that they knew nothing about.
But thatās besides the point- what happened next is deplorable. People began to attack others, REAL people, just for liking a fictional character that THEY thought abusive based off nothing but a few minutes of screen-time and brotherly banter. They began to call outĀ innocent people who didnāt want to tw Deceit, instead of merely blacklisting his tag.
Now look at Remus. He physically harmed those around him, and repeatedly insulted Roman, Logan, Virgil, and Thomas. Not to mention the entirety of his song- and the response is an overwhelming, āStinky rat boy uwu!!!!ā.Ā
It is absolutely insane, and confusing at the LEAST. The fact that they had the audacity to attack those who liked Deceit, and then turn around to kneel at the feet of anĀ actuallyĀ āāāāāāproblematic ://āāāāā, quote unquote, character is utterly baffling.
I saw someone suggest that the difference was that we had 40 minutes to get to know Remus, whereas Deceit only had a few minutes, and the fandom didnāt know how to react. But let me ask you this; is attacking other real people, based on a reaching assumption, on a character you know NOTHING about, understandable?Ā
Is it excusable, does it explain that behaviour sympathetically, neatly?
