SHARK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!¡!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
⚠️ Important News! ⚠️
Look at this little guy :)
OP YOU BETTER TELL ME WHAT FUCKING SHARK THAT IS I NEED TO KNOW NOW
Tis a thresher shark! Some fun facts about our little guys: -There are 3 (known) kinds of thresher sharks: the common thresher, the bigeye thresher, and the pelagic thresher.
-Their scientific names are derived from the greek word meaning 'fox,' so they can also be called fox sharks! (which tell me that isn't the cutest thing EVER)
-They take 8-13 years to reach maturity and live to about 22 years
-They're one of the few warm-blooded sharks, which helps them live in deeper waters and helps them be stronger swimmers along with their long *ss tail fins
-They're closely related to basking sharks, mako sharks, and great whites, although they most closely share their derpy faces with the makos
-Unfortunately, like many sharks today, hunting has led threshers to be classified as 'vulnerable to extinction' by the IUCN. If you would like to help with this, feel free to research some more on charities like the Marine Conservation Institute, MarineBio.org, and the Ocean Foundation. Obviously there are more than these three, and more than just donations that can help! Sharing information about shark and marine conservation can do just as much and maybe more to save our little friends ♥ BUT! Enough of that for now. Instead, enjoy some more pictures of adorable little thresher sharks:
Aaaaand this last one isn't a real picture of a thresher, but I thought this art by Qubox was just too cute not to include:
TY TY TY DO THEY HAVE SIMILAR SPEED AS THE SHORTFIN MAKO SHARK? OR ARE THEY COUSINS WITH NOTHING ALIKE (JUSTNLIKE ME FR FR)

The Lovable Japanese Wobblegong♡☆♡
The Japanese Wobblegong (Scientific name: Orectolobus Japonicus) is a sluggish shark that hunts at night, otherwise known as nocturnal!(just like me fr fr) Currently, their conservation status is Least Concern (another shark W) They tend to be in the western, tropical parts of the pacific ocean, this includes many Asian countries such as the phillipines! Despite being sluggish, they're big brain, and use their camophague to hunt down and ambush their prey!
As for their reproductive system, they are viviparous, meaning they give birth to live young! This spotty creature gives birth to about 20 pups per litter (that's painful, probably)
On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 9 because I couldn't find much info on them :( (where the shark researchers at)
What’s something new or interesting that has happened with you recently/lately?????????????

AH YES, THE SHARKS ARE TAKING OVER EARTH, WONDERFUL!!!
Did you know? Even though sharks are portrayed as big, violent, and generally snack on people like gummy bears, most of them are probably less worse than dolphins, seriously. Sharks often aren't as violent as people think, usually the shark is inquisitive, it wants to know what you are, which is why swimming away from them makes follow you around more, and even if they DO bite you, it's usually because they think you're a tropical fish because of bright swim suits, and even seals, if you're on a surf board! Tldr: sharks: good, very funny, cute! dolphins: pure evil, comes out of Satan's arse, intelligent enough to know what they're doing
crossfit- more sharks coming out soon
This is how many sharks are killed every 5 minutes as a result of finning.
When I scrolled down to the post, I was like "lmao sharks having a party" but then I got down to the caption and now I want to cry
i need you to understand that the ruling class hates you and wants to hurt you as much as they possibly can
Maybe we should let the sharks take over earth tbh
Shark media lovers, question????
Why are Great White Sharks (Carcharodon Carcharias) seen as the most dangerous shark (to non shark lovers) I know that jaws made it seem that way, but why did they choose that shark??
saw this in the shark tag and i took a class on sharks in media so i can probably answer it :) a huge chunk of it was ab the jaws effect itself
shortest answer is just that white sharks are scary. they’re big, eat big things, have sharp teeth, and those “cold unfeeling eyes” everyone talks about. they’re also seen as violent for their rituals, displays, and mating behavior. plus, with your biggest sense organ being your mouth, of course that’s how you’re going to investigate your environment. with a distinct, easily recognizable shark like that, the fear is already there. i’m sure being an open ocean shark doesn’t help either, you’ve got nowhere to hide
there’s also a record of unproved shark attacks since 1580 and the associated species. Carcharodon carcharias is responsible for ~37% of 946 attacks; 354 attacks with 297 being non fatal, 57 fatal. The runner-ups are Galeocerdo cuvier (tiger) with 138 and Carcharhinus leucas (bull) with 121. that’s about a 256% increase from tiger to white
if you’d like media with other sharks, i have a few movies but i also like corny ocean horror so that’s what you’re getting. open water (2003) doesn’t focus too much on them, but there’s reef sharks. i believe deep blue sea (1999) has makos, the 2018 and 2020 sequels have bull sharks. i’ve also been suggested bull shark (2022), mako (2021), and mako: the jaws of death (1976). have yet to see anything about tiger sharks! strange considering makos (Isurus oxyrinchus and Isurus spp. combined) only account for 12 attacks
YOOOO THERES CLASSES ABOUT SHARKS IN MEDIA???? WOAH

idk, i guess maybe because they’re more aggressive than the typical shark? maybe they just liked the name who knows
