please don't touch me, 2021 by Luka Khabelashvili
I think video games are actually one of the best mediums to explore tragedy. "It didn't have to end like this" and "it could only have ended like this" hits different when YOU are the one making the decision to push the story along to the conclusion it's been building towards, despite the consequences you can already foresee.
"What is driving me forwards" the protagonist wonders. It's me. The player. Making you fulfill your role in the narrative despite how much I want to let you change.
Despite how much I want for you to have learned your lesson, it's not in your nature to quit before the climax. And it is not in the nature of video games for the player to quit before seeing the ending through. We were both given a choice, but there's really only a single answer that both of us can accept.
This post is about Cairn.
i did another tdwp rewatch.. and that scene in the end where they look at each other, both of them so similar yet so different is so insane

Hate it when TikTok farm cosplayers and cottagecore types say stuff like "I'm not going to use modern equipment because my grandmothers could make do without it." Ma'am, your great grandma had eleven children. She would have killed for a slow cooker and a stick blender.
I’ve noticed a sort of implicit belief that people used to do things the hard way in the past because they were tougher or something. In reality, labor-saving devices have historically been adopted by the populace as soon as they were economically feasible. No one stood in front of a smoky fire or a boiling pot of lye soap for hours because they were virtuous, they did it because it was the only way to survive.
Taking these screenshots from Facebook because they make you log in and won't let you copy and paste:
What if we killed a guy and hid him in a trunk from which we served a dinner party for his family and friends (and we were both boys)
man come on. it's colours
if anyone's looking for a nice palette tool that's free of useless bloat AND allows you to customise th palettes while visulizing their rapport to one another, i highly recommend paletton

"You're a real piece of work, Fool Bright." "But what kind? Satire? Melodrama? Perhaps a comedy?"
My absolute favorite official Cyberpunk 2077 art from CDPR is this piece by Łukasz Poller
Not just for the old school Edward Hopper style and Syd Mead vibes that's used, but just because there's something very simple and easy about it. I feel like the plot moves so fast that it never seems like V can catch a break within the story. But in this piece, they're just chilling, shooting the shit, like it's a lazy day in. The air looks still, the conversation seems lazy. V's not even dressed.
I can't even explain it. Guess there's just something comforting about the world as you know it crumbling around you and still being able to find a moment to breathe during it.
