if I created a tv show and came up with this character who was really complex, interesting, dealing with trauma from abuse and parental abandonment in an unhealthy way but was also just really fun to watch in all their sassy, bitchy, chaotic glory I would utilise that character to the greatest degree possible. I would put them in every plotline I could feasibly put them in and their personality would be allowed to shine beyond how traumatised they are, but their suffering would also be acknowledged by the other characters and in turn would give them more depth and personality. if this character also started out blatantly queer-coded I would follow that through and not only allow that aspect of them to blossom but would also put them in an endgame relationship with one of the most popular characters who they had obvious chemistry with because queer relationships that do not play second fiddle to the hetero relationships in the narrative are extremely lacking in mainstream media. I would also include a really long, gruesome and incredibly satisfying scene of this character bashing in the skull of their abuser, getting away with it and then spitting on their grave.

matt and ross duffer created that kind of character and then just threw him and all those writing opportunities away.

I imagine a Billy who is calm under every other circumstance. Canonically, he is only full of energy when he’s angry, on the defense, or putting on a show for others; his temperament otherwise seems relatively bored or disassociated from everything around him which often means quiet. Anti’s make him out to be this aggressive monster, but he’s just…chill. I’d like to see more fics of him hanging out, without the pressure of trauma or being on his guard. I just think it’d be neat if we explored that more.
