I get why Liverpool fans are upset about Trent joining Real Madrid. What I can’t understand is the section of Liverpool fans who now want him to fail at his new club. This is someone your club scouted, trained, and developed from a young age. Trent is a product of Liverpool’s system, a testament to what your academy can produce. Wishing failure on him is essentially wishing failure on your own club. His success elsewhere still reflects positively on Liverpool’s ability to produce world-class talent. You can be disappointed he left without turning on him entirely. Supporting a player’s growth, even at a new club, doesn’t make you any less of a fan, it just shows maturity and pride in what your club helped build.
