#WeMakeYarn day 31: What Spinning has Taught Me
Spinning has taught me meditation and how to find inspiration in creation. Every time I create something new, I see something else to make from yarn and tools to knitted, crocheted or woven things. As the fiber turns to yarn in my hands, peace will blanket me-until I’m interrupted. :)
#WeMakeYarn day 30: Most Memorable Spin
My most memorable spin didn’t have anything to do with the fiber or tools, but a random little boy. He came up and asked questions, from what was I doing to what do you do when you’re done with it. And he soaked up the knowledge better than a sponge.
#WeMakeYarn day 29: Best Advice
If you’re hurting from holding the fiber, you need to release the tension. From your shoulders to your hands to your wheel. If the wheel can’t pull lightly while still drawing up, try cross-lacing.
#WeMakeYarn day 28: Community
I’m astonished at how supportive the fiber community can be. I started spinning again after attending the Stitches Texas several years ago. Then we moved to a pretty rural area and I found great support in the online community. I joined the #spinfoolish team for my first Tour de France and felt so welcomed. And I love the facebook group A Spinner’s Study and the @Plymagazine is an amazing resource to growing my spinning skills and encouraging my hope in my small business.

#WeMakeYarn day 26: Fave Fiber
I don’t yet have a lot of experience with different fibers. I’ve only spun sheep wool, alpaca, angora, bamboo, and cotton. So far, I greatly prefer protein fibers. I love spinning the angora from our bunny, Sno. Just so soft! But, I would really like to be able to enjoy cotton.
Not exactly finished, but I have finished the first 3 sections! LOL
This is why it’s so important for parents to support their trans kids.
This needs all the reblogs.
This is sooo true and soooo important! And I’ll gladly support any trans kids any way I can if they don’t get the support…but due to legalities its limited as to what I can actually do 😊
Reblog reblog reblog!!!! Save our trans kids!!!! They need support just like all of us

#WeMakeYarn day 25: How I Learn
I learn by reading and replicating, but I also love experimenting! I'm happy to learn the foundations from others, but I enjoy experimenting to take it further.
And then, it's all about practice, practice, practice. Like I tell my math students, practice 15-30 minutes a day and it'll go from short-term memory to long-term memory. The muscles in your brain and hands will begin to learn the movements and understand the logic until it becomes easy! Then, it's time to move onto the next challenge!
#WeMakeYarn day 24: Texture
I mostly prefer spinning worsted, so the general texture of my yarn is smooth. However, I enjoy dabbling in the architectural, or art, yarns and tweeds. I really enjoy the interesting effect crepe and cabled yarns have on knitting. So far, I haven’t been able to do much thick and thin or beehives. Bouclé is also pretty high on my list.
#WeMakeYarn day 23: Ply
Single-ply, 2-ply, 3-ply, chain, crepe, cable, spiral, thread, hawser. If singles are the bones of yarn, plying is everything else! I especially love barberpole plys as well as my first attempt at plying the lockspinning last year.
#WeMakeYarn day 22: WPI
The WPI tools are pretty crucial to me since they help me stay consistent through projects. My favorite is definitely Rosie’s Precise Spinning Control card, but I’d love to have Hipstrings macro and micro cards!
And after I’ve used the control for a little while, I like making my own to use for the remainder of the project and include all the info about it as well as plying samples.
I gained 1001 followers after I reblogged this the last time no joke
I mean, I’m calling bullshit but it’s worth a go
there’s no bullshit here, i for one got a couple new followers just this week
HOW THE FLYING FUCKNUGGET
Im just rebloging because of that last guys comment
thats not possible
I didn’t get 28k more followers but I’m a newer blog and I think this is pretty good soÂ
I kinda don’t believe these tbh
Me too prove me wrong man
I bet you ten bucks this aint real lmao
I wanna hit 400 soon so
It’s better not work
Calling bullshit
Aw, hell. Why not!
#WeMakeYarn day 19: Singles
I've not spun for a singles yarn before, but I enjoy helping my singles stand out in the plies. Which explains why I enjoy plying barberpole. I spin two or three different color singles together for an interesting effect. It definitely knits up best with a plain pattern.
#WeMakeYarn day 18: Stash Enhancement
Not much stash enhancement going on around here, but I love trading spinning for fiber!
#WeMakeYarn day 17: Favorite Time To Spin
Mornings and afternoons are my best times to spin, but I enjoy spinning in the evenings with my family. I’d love to get a tahkli and bowl for right before bed, but maybe in the future.
Just started the 2nd bobbin of this lace.
