i can’t remember if this is canon or not but if the first people in the demon realm were humans who just wandered over there somehow a really long time ago, im curious as to how the pointy ears evolved. was it evolutionarily advantageous to be able to hear better?? i can imagine maybe so in a world with so much more immediate danger than the human realm. or maybe it’s a wonky side effect from exposure to magic

i’ve talked with other people who agree about this and sometimes i wonder why we like the first hunger games book the most - why i’m so drawn to the drama and storytelling in it, why it just seems more engaging to me. and then i think about the concept of it - how essentially right up until the end all they do is survive and we see it from katniss’ pov so for 90% of the book we are in the arena. reading it feels like watching a movie, and a very well-directed one at that. it’s excellent entertainment; it’s dramatic, it’s romantic, it’s just the kind of storytelling an audience craves. and then im like oh. ohhhhhhh

i know the fanon is that annie wasn’t a career and just didn’t have anyone to volunteer for her but i actually think she’s more interesting as a career tbh. she trained her whole life, she volunteered, she saw her tribute partner get beheaded and the trauma was so strong it changed her forever. that’s it, that’s the post.
