Harpy eagle

Appearance: circles of feathers around their face, front facing eyes with a crown of grey-ish feathers on top of their head. Massive talons and feet larger than a grizzly bear claw. 3 ft tall and 4-9 kg

Wingspan: 6.5 ft

Distribution: central to South America (tropical rainforest)

Fun facts

Apex predator!!

Their claws can crush the bones of their prey

Eat sloths monkeys and even young deer

Impressively long lives of 25-35 years

Namaqua sandgrouse

Family: Sandgrouse

Found in: southwestern Africa

Wing span: 50 - 60 cm

Appearance: dark brown folded wings with pale yellow and grey spots. Short stubby legs, long pointed tail and plump around the same size as a pigeon.

Pairs mate for life ❤️

Fast fliers, can fly up to 45mph

Males belly feathers are "spongy" and can absorb water to give to their chicks

Scissor-tailed Flycatcher

Genus : Tyrannus

Appearance: long, deeply forked tail quite small and about the same size as a pigeon. Pale, pearl colour body vibrant salmon pink flanks and undertail. Tail feathers elongate outward, that is what make the tail look like "scissors".
