Hey, uh, in light of running through several posts dedicated to deleting period tracking apps and researching local facilities online and a number of other online-centric tips, I think it’s worth mentioning that now is also absolutely the time to turn to physical media when it comes to getting hard/impossible-to-track information. By that I mean,
1. Start hitting up libraries and bookstores. Paper print can’t be spied on. The paranoia in me says if you need to buy a book on Certain Medical Topics, try to pay in cash. Yes, really. I don’t know how far or deep the dystopia hole is going to go in the midst of all this, or even in the near future, but it pays to have absolutely nothing that can reveal digital details to sniff out.
2. GET A PHONE BOOK. AN ACTUAL. PHYSICAL. PHONE BOOK.
The less info you have to look up online about nearby options, the better.
I hate sounding like I’m writing while wearing a tinfoil hat, but I’m dead serious when I say that the increasing chokehold the digital landscape is taking on all our information and day-to-day lives is very much a double-edged sword. Yes, we’re more informed now than ever. But so are the cartoon villain-level parties who have more and more access to our private information and search topics.
In anything you can, try to get your hands on a physical method and/or copy. Nothing that can be traced, or that depend on an Internet connection, or demand a subscription. Invest in solid things you can do or hold.
Stay informed. Stay safe.
Perhaps this can help Americans in time of need, this is a compiled list of resources for those seeking an abortion in Canada. Many groups are willing to arrange for transportation and counselling as well as abortion access
https://www.arcc-cdac.ca/clinics/
This is your reminder that every breath you take under a system that wants you dead is an act of defiance. If you are a woman, trans, black, brown, indigenous, two spirit, Jewish, Muslim, disabled, poor, gay, an immigrant, or any combination of those groups or other marginalized groups I'm forgetting to mention, every piece of joy and peace you find in a country that will not protect you is revolutionary.
Give yourself time and space for your anger, channel it into donating or volunteering or even just supporting vulnerable individuals in your communities. But also give yourself time and space for joy, to take a deep breath. Take care of yourself. Brush your teeth, take a shower, eat, take your meds, check in with yourself. Honor your culture in some way, pray to your ancestors or to your deities, make cultural art, or comfort food. Go get a tattoo, or a piercing, or dye your hair. Find ways to remind yourself of your power, wherever you may draw it from. Turn off the news, at least for an hour or two. Watch a few episodes of a stupid TV show. Watch something that will make you laugh. Read a few chapters in your favorite book. Take a walk. Literally smell some roses. Anything that will give you strength to keep going, anything that will give you any small spark of hope or joy.
Activism is important. Getting in the streets is important. Donating to abortion funds is important. But you will not have the energy to do those things effectively if you do not give yourself grace. If you do not honor your emotions and the time you need to feel them. Constant exposure to stress is not healthy for anyone. Don't burn yourselves out, try to find a balance that works for you.
You are spiting the system by simply keeping yourself alive. So make that your priority first. Get your strength up, get your head straight, if you can. We need you at top condition (whatever that means for you) for what's to come. We need everyone.
If you go to a protest about Roe v Wade, make sure you remember these things.
The police are not your friend. They are not here to help, and they do not care who you are or what you’re doing. If you look like you might be a protester, they will fuck you up indiscriminately. Do not speak to them or interact with them in any capacity whatsoever.
If they arrest you, and they do not read you your Miranda rights, you still have the right to invoke them. But you cannot sue them anymore for not reading you your rights, because of the Supreme Court’s ruling. Invoke your right to silence. Do not speak with them unless you are asking for a lawyer. Not even small talk. Demand a lawyer, and then shut the fuck up completely.
Turn your phone’s location services/data/Face ID/fingerprint/etc. off before you go. Use only encrypted apps to communicate.
If you’re marching, cover your face. Cover up any and all identifiable features on your body, period. Tie up your hair and put it under a hat. Cover up tattoos and piercings. Wear all black, if possible. Do not let them identify you on camera.
Bring food and water. Especially water, in case of tear gas or pepper spray. Use it to thoroughly rinse your eyes and anyone else’s.
Along that same line, do not wear contacts.
Bring an umbrella. It’s a good deflector for yourself and those standing behind you. Use it as a shield.
Bring earplugs. Cops use what are essentially ‘sound guns’ at some protests, and they can cause permanent hearing damage.
There will be suspiciously convenient piles of construction materials such as bricks, rebar, etc., near where you’re marching. There is a decent chance that this will happen, and it has already happened multiple times during multiple different protests. It is bait. Do not use it. Do not look at the bricks, do not touch the bricks, do not pick up the bricks, do not even think about throwing a brick. The police will use that as probable cause to arrest you for rioting.
Do not go alone, and do not let the police separate you from the main group of protesters. This will leave you in an extremely dangerous situation. Stay with the group at all costs. The police prey on stragglers.
If you go with friends, make sure to exchange important emergency information with them beforehand in case any of you are arrested. Do not leave any of your friends behind.
Leave that same information with someone who is not going to the protest to be your jail contact, in case you are arrested and your friends are also arrested.
If you make it to a corner or intersection, turn quickly. Police will use those areas to try and break the group apart. Get through those areas as quickly as you can.
To keep the group together, go with the flow of traffic. If you need to lose the police, go against the flow of traffic where their cars cannot follow you.
If you are standing at a police barricade, do not put your hands on the barricade. They will hit your fingers with batons, and they do not care if they break your fingers. Instead, lock hands or lock arms with other protesters beside you. If you hold their hands, do not interlock your fingers together. This will get your fingers broken if the police hit it with a baton.
This isn’t a complete list of advice, but it was everything I could think of at the moment. Please use it to stay safe and use your First Amendment rights to speak and assemble freely.
the theme that always resonates me the most in stories is “the world is cruel; therefore I won’t be.”
The worst thing our oppressive society has done, in my opinion, was convincing so many good people that humanity is garbage. They look at the ongoing destruction of the environment, they look at rude old men who blame young people for economic decline, they look at wars waged for money and cultural hegemony, and they think it's awful—correct!—and they assume that all of this is caused by human nature or our current zeitgeist or whatever. Which is wrong.
This attitude is misguided and counterproductive. The people, systems, and ideologies that are ruining the world have NAMES and we know them. "Humanity" isn't to blame. Capitalism is, nationalism is, neocolonialism is, etc. Don't you dare blame "humanity" as a whole and then sit on your ass satisfied with your individualistic misanthropy. Humans are cool! We just need to beat some of them with a stick, and then build something better together.
i am aggressively reblogging every bit of positivity in my liked posts bc tHE WORLD IS STILL A GOOD THING. THIS IS STILL A GOOD PLACE. THERE ARE SO MANY BAD THINGS BUT THERE ARE SO MANY MORE GOOD THINGS HUMANITY IS STILL GOOD FLOWERS ARE STILL PRETTY THE SUNSET IS STILL BREATHTAKING LAUGHING WITH YOUR FRIENDS STILL FEELS LIKE FLOATING. i love you all and i love the world and i love humanity and even though things are fucked up we cannot forget the good things. these are the things worth fighting for. there are things here worth loving, and you are one of them. i love you.
Women of America, are you awake yet? Do you still believe you’re a citizen of this country?
Are you still swallowing that comforting lie that your eyeliner can kill a man? Did you know the suffragettes used bombs?
We have been watching the erosion of women’s rights for the last decade like a tide going out at sea. Have you? Are you getting cold in the shadow of this tsunami with your eyes closed, or are you brave enough to see it for what it is?
We do not have the same rights as men. We can’t speak of our abuse without getting sued - 1st amendment. We can’t stand our ground with guns against men without longer and harsher sentences - 2nd amendment. We don’t have control over our own bodies. We’re financially punished and educationally stilted from cradle to grave.
Forget the fantasy of empowerment. Lose your comfort with reality. Get a grip and get angry. Do you know what power is? It isn’t clothes and makeup and subservience in hope of scraps. It isn’t how confident you feel today. It’s the ability to enact change on your life, the lives of others, and the world. It’s land, money, knowledge, political office, and bodily autonomy.
It’s the ability to CHOOSE which pregnancies come to term. Do you truly grasp the weight of that power? How restricting reproductive rights operates as a fundamental baseline for patriarchy? Nature granted that power to women. It’s our choice. Not theirs.
We have to advocate for ourselves. We have to fight for ourselves and each other. We have to take lessons from our foremothers 50 years ago. The men with real power sure as hell will never do it for us. The men with real power identify with the throttled fetus, not the woman. The men with real power are complaining about low birth rates.
Abortion bans = sex kills. Women will die and it might be you.
To my American followers who can get pregnant. Delete your period tracking apps. Don’t tell anyone you are pregnant. Not friends, not family if you plan on travelling out of the country or to another state to get an abortion. Keep yourself safe. I live in Ontario so there are several border crosses close to where I live and I’d be happy to help gather information for you.
Please anything that can be traced avoid key words like baby, abortion, pregnant
It's a historically awful day today in US history.
You do what you need to do right now. Mourn, thrash, art, cry, scream, retreat. It's important to feel your feelings and blind positivity is not the healthy constructive way to cope.
I will be mourning and coping in my own ways too. I can't stop thinking about the many lives (both existing and unborn) that this will affect in such ill ways. And as a person afab, I can't ignore the fear I feel rising in my chest and choking my throat.
I will however share with you the reminder I am giving to myself though: the fight isn't fucking over. There are people that will need help. There are voices that will need lifting. There is REAL youth that needs REAL protection. And these motherfuckers will only continue trying to exert power and control for their own benefit.
I'm tired and the burden is so heavy and part of me is looking over at a chasm of depression. But another raw part of me wants to literally punch and claw at the people responsible for this outcome until my knuckles bleed.
I'm going to use that feeling to figure out what I can do to help and how I'll be carrying out my actions and choices after this.
I don't want to give up. And i hope you don't either. If you feel scared and lost, I do too but the reality is that we are here together and we can still find ways to help and support each other.
Keep growing and keep learning.
Hope is an act of rebellion.

POST PLUS IS COMING, WHETHER YOU WANT IT OR NOT!
Despite the fancy survey, changes to the UI and TOS reveal we’re getting the service in the future whether we want it or not. Obviously, Post+ is a terrible idea that is trying to bank revenue on user content. Unlike patreon or onlyfans, tumblr’s primary focus is on FAN content. The legality of this is NOT in the users favor and as the new tumblr TOS states, said users will be entirely liable for whatever legal matters arise.
SO WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Besides filling out the survey, it’s time to show tumblr we mean business and show our displeasure by hitting them where it hurts.
Ad revenue.
We’re proposing a 24 hour log off as phase one of this protest.
WHEN IS THE PROTEST?
AUGUST 6th, 2021 12 am Eastern Time (US) 5 am Greenwich Mean Time 6 am Central European Time 8 am Moscow Standard Time 1 pm Australian Western Time 2 pm Japan Standard Time 3:30 pm Australian Central Time 4 pm Australian Eastern Time
AUGUST 5th, 2021
11 pm Central Time (US) 10 pm Mountain Time (US) 9 pm Pacific Time (US)
THE END TIME IS 24 HOURS FROM START TIME!!!
So no posting, no queues, no likes, and no reblogs!
WHAT IF I CAN’T/WHAT ELSE CAN I DO?
Like this post and share it AS MANY TIMES AS POSSIBLE. Use the hashtags #tumblrlogoff2021 or #postplusprotest on ANY and ALL social media.
WILL THIS WORK?
Maybe, maybe not. It’s an attempt at doing SOMETHING.
BECAUSE I’M A TIRED IDIOT, USE THIS TO DOUBLE CHECK YOUR TIME ZONE!!!!
Event Time Announcer shows time for Log off protest 2021 in locations all over the world. In New York it happens on Friday, August 6, 2021 a
As much as I hate to say this because this hellsite is a big part of my life, I think we should all participate in this. And you know what, it’s actually because this hellsite means so much to me that I think we should do this. post+ will hurt content creators and possibly shut down tumblr itself (though they’re much better protected than we could ever be). Don’t use post+. Use the link above and find when you should log off to help

The bean jar
[My Chemical Romance voice]: When I was…. a young boy… my Father… had what he called the bean jar…
have i mentioned recently @allieinarden is the best
Since Gerard Way wrote The Umbrella Acedemy comics, I felt the most powerful need to commission this. It’s finally done. Thank you, @eamhhair
so I wrote the whole thing (sorry but also not)
I only did one of the verses I’m sorry everything else is there though
When I was
A young boy
My father
Had what he called the bean jar
It was a jar of beans
He said son when
It’s empty
You’ll see that
The world will end in fire
That’s what the bean jar means
He said will you
Induce me
To hasten
The pace of Armageddon
And catalyze our doom
Because one day
You’ll drive me
So crazy
I’ll reach into the bean jar
Purloin the last legume
(instrumental)
A world that gets sent reeling from decimated beans
My misbehavior’s killed us all
As people die, they scream out “why”, but no one understands
The reason is, I want you all to know
The beans are gone, the beans are gone
I didn’t quite believe it, but now I know I’ve brought this on
I’ve brought this on
As the world is ending, my sins I’ll be regretting evermore
On and on the fire quickly grows (oh, oh, oh)
And I’m the only one alive who knows (oh, oh, oh)
That I could have saved this world
If I’d only cared at all
I watch them die, from my mistakes, oh
Because this world, is coming for our hearts
And though I’ve tried, I cannot wake them
Because the time, has come for us to part
I would explain, and say I’m sorry
I’m so ashamed, I know it’s all my fault
There’s no one left, to forgive me
In this hell, this hell that I have wrought
I’m just a boy, I’m not a villain
I’m just a kid, who couldn’t right his wrongs
I’m just a boy, I’m not a villain
And I’m so scared
The beans are gone, the beans are gone
I didn’t quite believe it, but now I know I’ve brought this on
I’ve brought this on
If I’d tried I could have fought it, but it’s too late I’ve lost it all
I’ve brought this on, the beans are gone
The beans are gone, gone, gone
The beans are gone
