Just started a new book and saw that I have a book dedicated to me lol π€«π
β¦But in all seriousness I love when authors take the time to thank their readers. We love them and itβs nice to hear they love us too sometimes, okay? Normally though, if a thanks to the reader is included, itβs in the acknowledgments section so this was a fun surprise!
Whatβs your favorite book dedication? This is definitely one of mine now(its from the book From Blood and Ash).

me, four years after reading truthwitch trying to figure out why the east asian-coded girl from a nomadic culture has a arthurian first name and an italian-esque last name & the white girl from a german-coded country has an arabic first name:Β
I can give you an answer. Itβs pretty straightforward: I was ignorant and didnβt do my homework.
I basically followed GRRMβs advice on fantasy naming (take familiar names and just change a few letters) + I looked at root words in my old root word book from science days. So for example, Safiya was supposed to be βfantasyβ Sophia + the words saph, which means clarity.
It wasnβt well done. At all. I didnβt even realize that the names I took were actual names in other cultures, and I am not proud of that AT ALL. Iβve tried to do better in subsequent books. Unfortunately, the main charactersβ names were already there and unchangeable.
So there you have it. Thatβs why the names ended up sounding like something I didnβt intend for them to sound like. Donβt make the same problematic mistake I did in your own books! π€·ββοΈ
you should all watch northern exposure, you really should.Β itβs certainly the mother of gilmore girls, with the emphasis on townie life and ensemble casting and witty dialogue, and itβs got all the magical realism of twin peaks but with a lighthearted touch.Β itβs pretty much perfect.Β in fact, itβs so perfect that itβs hard for me to bingewatch.Β i find that i have to take a lot of time between episodes because my brain wants to mull each one over for a long time before i move on - thatβs why iβm still on season four.Β there are so many solid-gold episodes that are just plain wonderful from beginning to end - moreso than almost any other show iβve ever watched.Β
I LOVE this show. 10/10 recommend. Only issue is I can only find it on dvd...

Just finished the finale of the Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco. Cresswell and Wadsworth are two of my all time favorite characters. I couldnβt begin to express how much I adore this series and the finale did not disappoint. I love historical fiction and mystery novels and this series blends the two perfectly, I highly recommend it!

Rereading one of my favorites! Anyone else love the Graceling series by Kristin Cashore?? Itβs a sad rainy day outside and I havenβt read this book in forever so here we are :)
Okay so Iβve decided to change my main blog from a falling kingdoms fan page to a multi fandom bookblr. Thereβs not much going on in the FK fandom anymore and I felt I needed a bit of a change. I will of course still post about the series but in addition I will be posting about books Iβm reading and other series I love. Falling Kingdom series

Just finished the falling kingdoms series and this is one of the rare instances where I desperately wish someone would make a book series into a tv series.
Like seriously the whole time I read it, I could picture it all on screen. It would be like a less sexual/violent game of thrones. SOMEONE π GET π ON π THIS π

The Falling Kingdoms series is so disappointing, because the first four books are so good, but then the last two are the most generic blah books ever. And the pacing in them was just off, and they focused a bit too much on Cleo and Magnusβs relationship.
Iβve heard a couple people also say they also didnβt like the later books as much as the first two or theee which I can definitely understand, but I am the total opposite lol. I honestly liked the later books better than the first few! I think I really liked seeing all the characters grow and be more adult like than they were at the beginning of the series. Cleo and Magnus changed the most which is why I didnβt mind a focus on their relationship because their arc was so important to the rest of the story.
