BOOK OF THE DAY:
The Chronicles of Narnia by C.S. Lewis
Amazon: 4.7/5
Goodreads: 4.22/5
This is a story of four children, Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy Pevensie, who are sent into the country to live with Professor Kirke because of the air-raids on wartime London. On their first morning, the weather is awful, so they play indoors.
Lucy finds a “wardrobe” with a door hidden in the back. Because I lived overseas at the time I knew what a “wardrobe” was and actually had one in my own bedroom. The wardrobe is actually a magical door to Narnia and she enters a snowy magical world filled with talking animals. I was just fascinated when the teacher read this: … And then she saw that there was a light ahead of her; not a few inches away from where the back of the wardrobe ought to have been, but a long way off. Something cold and soft was falling on her. A moment later she found that she was standing in the middle of a wood at night-time with snow under her feet and snowflakes falling through the air …
There are tales of magic books, sea adventures and someone naughty turns into a scary dragon (great lesson). To find out if they stay a dragon you have to read the books and I won’t spoil the ending for you. All I can tell you is that when you start reading these books time won’t stand still as it does when these children jump into a picture and start an adventure aboard the Dawn Treader. These books are nothing short of magical. The imagination of Lewis is so powerful that the numerous images become a part of you and you remember them forever. Through the books, C.S. Lewis weaves the morals and beliefs children need to learn.

“I’m more than just a piece in their Games.” ― Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games
Look what came through the door this morning! This beautiful history book by Helen Rappaport, delving into Victoria’s journals and letters, her family, political rivals and early life, as well as exploring the making of the drama and the differences between historical fact and fiction. This booked is absolutely packed with information (I was worried it was going to be rather basic) I’m very excited to start reading it! I’ll be sharing more soon!
Reading is awesome and your books deserve equally awesome bookmarks. Canadian jeweller Manon Richard creates exquisite silver bookmarks that feature beautiful glow-in-the-dark turquoise accents. So they aren’t just pretty, they also make it much easier to find your books in the dark, which is exactly how Richard first came up with the idea for her bookmarks.
“…Richard celebrates literary tales with designs that are inspired by both the fantastical realm as well as our incredible Earth. Dragons and mermaids are fashioned into metal bookmarks while foxes, feathers, and lotus flowers are also attached to the long, curved pieces. Like her wearable creations, the glow-in-the-dark elements accentuate fine details like beading, wings, and scales.”
Visit Manon Richard’s Papillon9 Etsy shop to check out more of her glowing bookmarks as well as her wide range of glow-in-the-dark jewelry.
