HOWL'S MOVING CASTLE ハウルの動く城 2004, dir. Hayao Miyazaki
honestly yall just gotta be comfortable reading books that make you feel stupid
read books that you don't understand. read books where you have to pay attention. read books that make you reread a page eight times to figure it out. read books that you need to take notes on. read books with words you have to google. read books that don't make sense without research on the setting. read books that make you feel stupid because otherwise you'll just be stupid.
Preservation sweating BULLETS right now
MY NAME, IS FRICKIN MOON MOON. I’D BE THE MOST IDIOTIC WOLF. ‘OH SHIT WHO BROUGHT FUCKING MOON MOON ALONG?’
World Heritage Post
So who do I bill for this week's episode of Nakamura-kun destroying my mental well being?
do not joke about the advertisements, do not engage with the advertisements in witty fashions, do not, fucking, mention the contents of the advertisements. as soon as an advertisement enters your mind, you kill it, dont care how cute it is, take it out back and shoot it. install adblock, ublock, mute the volume, look away, turn off the monitor, cover your ears, paint over it. evolve your mind, your modality, your instincts, to disregard the stimuli of advertisements before you can even process it. whatever it takes, you do not let them win. and thats an order.
This completely unironically
there's literally nothing more radical in 2026 than believing that humanity can become good news for each other and the only world we'll ever share.
“can’t believe women fought to work!! i don’t wanna work!!” women have Been Working they fought to get Paid you know that right ?
Fought to get paid, fought to get acknowledged, fought to get control over their own careers.
To whoever needs to hear this, because I certainly did a few years back, you don’t need to eat “like an adult”. You are allowed to prep meals or snacks like you’re a child, and I don’t mean you need to treat yourself like you’re immature, but you’re allowed to give yourself the same grace, patience and willingness to compromise as you would a little kid.
If you don’t like the textures of vegetables, you can blend them up and mix them into something tasty. If you struggle to cook a proper lunch, you can just make yourself a luncbox full of snacks or sandwiches that you can easily take out the fridge later on and pick at. If snacks or ready-meals targeted at children look easier or more appealing, you can just buy them. If you want to cut the crusts off your bread or use cookie cutters to shape your sandwiches into fun shapes, do it!
“It doesn’t matter what you eat, what’s important is just eating” is a crucial philosophy to take on board, but the other important thing to keep in mind is that absolutely no one should control how you eat your food. I don’t care if it’s considered childish, if changing how you eat something gets you to eat it in the first place, make the change. Let yourself eat exactly how you want to.
Just wanted to send out a little reminder into the universe that building a culture of consent starts with, well, EVERYTHING...not just sexual activity.
This post inspired by a couple of queer/lefitst folks I used to hang w/ who would tout "consent is king!!!" all the time but then basically bully their friends who didn't want to go to clubs, mocked other queer folks who were sober as no fun, etc.
"I don't tip in the US because US tipping culture is ridiculous and exploitative"
Ok but you realize you're not hurting the corporation, right? You know they won't care or notice? Right?
You are, however, screwing over an employee that already makes poverty wages.
Great job, little revolutionary! That waitress can't pay rent! That'll show the capitalist overlords!
Sometimes when I'm on the bus on my way to work, listening to music and watching the world, I get myself so emotional I might cry.
I very truly love this world.
The bus passes through some neighborhoods that are quite neglected and poor. The government is fixing a bunch of roads because some soccer players are staying in my city for the world cup. They could have fixed the streets before, the money was there. But the soccer players weren't. The soccer players will leave, and the neighborhoods will stay poor.
I get emotional seeing older adults with fast food bags on the bus. I imagine they are going home to their children. It reminds me of my mom bringing us cheap rotisserie chicken from the supermarket she used to work at. Of my dad buying a lot more bread that was necessary for sunday breakfasts.
Our dad used to tell us about how when he was a child, the thing he wanted the most was to buy a bunch of soda bottles for him and his friends to drink.
The families with kids remind me of my sister and her family. My brother in law has been feeding a family of four on a cashier's salary. But things are looking up for them because my sister just got a really good job.
The thing I want the most is to see a world where kids never know this sort of sadness or anger. I want it to die with me. I want them to see these things and think of happy memories and a bright future.
Every time you catch yourself going, "Fuck, are humans just inherently evil and naturally inclined to selfishness and harm???" you HAVE to remember that that's literally a core ideal of Christianity.
So if it feels inescapable and like evidence of it is everywhere, whether at times or always, that might just because you're in a Western country where you're surrounded by Christians who believe that, fundamentally, in their worldview. And also they talk and make art about it all the time and run the vast majority of news outlets. And spent over a thousand years burning any art or texts that disagreed with them. Etc. etc.
If you're gonna come to as drastic and painful a conclusion as that, at least take the time first to make sure you're not working with biased evidence (surrounded by too many people and cultural products that believe original sin is real)
And if it turns out the feeling WAS partly the result of cultural Christianity, then hey, that's great news, because it means there's that much (and it really is SO MUCH) less evidence that humans inherently suck. Which is good, because we don't
