I had the pleasure seeing of Citizen Cope for the first time last fall. I had never heard of him but the venue that I worked for booked him and the show was a solid five stars. One of the benefits of owning his album is it makes me so happy that I want to clean my house!

I'm new to tumblr and I write about music. My blogs a little different than most. I write about working in the industry, music that inspires me, I also offer advice for people looking to break into the music scene. I love also seeing what other people are interested in... Follow for follow back?

Party like a Rockstar.

It always makes me laugh when customers (audience members) and normal people (I'll admit people like me aren't normal) have this idea that all I do is drink beer all day and assume that I'm related to the band that's playing or I'm sleeping with them. Here's a tip. Ladies, if you're in this to sleep with your favorite band, you're probably in the wrong side of this business. I put in sixteen hour days to connect an audience music not to accidentally wind up pregnant with someone who won't remember my name in a week. AND at the end of the night (usually around 1 AM) we celebrate a great show sometimes with a shot or a beer...that's not to say occasionally we get a little out of control...but lets face it. There are no sick days in this business. Occasionally we hang out with the band... I'm not going to lie, I have many friends that are successful musicians that I hangout with. But I know the line between friends and friends with benefits. Trust me when I say it's hard to find a job if you're a woman and word on the street is that you've been known to sleep around. I have always stood by my belief that my career is more valuable than a one night stand. Think about this: What makes you want to work in music. I challenge you to write it down (you could do this for any job) and what boundaries are needed to help you excel in your field. Wether it be music or nursing. Post it on a bulletin board where you can see it in your room. It will serve as a reminder to you everyday when you wake up. MOST IMPORTANTLY: NEVER drink and drive. Spending money on a cab will always be cheaper than the price of losing you or your friends life.

Whatever you believe, you're only on earth for a short time. Do what you love. Don't be afraid to spread your wings and fly. I've been fighting for my goals for six years. Trust me, the risk is worth the reward.

I remember the last show that I attended at the venue I now work at. It was A Day to Remember (headliner), Bring Me The Horizon, We Came as Romans, and PIERCE THE VEIL (my favorite band!) I have worked about 300 shows now and I haven't been able to work their show yet. I'm doing my best to be patient...Good things come to those who wait right?

One of my many inspirations for being in the music biz is Ellie Goulding. There's something inside her slightly raspy yet fairy-like voice that's good for the inside my soul. I've been fortunate enough to see her live twice and I look forward to the day that I get the chance to work for/with her. I particularly love her remake of Elton John's "Your Song." In my eyes, she reminds me a bit of myself. We both have such an innocent appearance but lets loose occasionally.

About Me:

I'm a woman. I'm young. I'm different from the rest of the world. I have morals. I don't sacrifice a morsel of my soul, only to lose sight of who I am.

After reading that you would probably least expect me to say that I work in the music industry. No, I haven't hit it big and no, I don't sleep with band guys. I don't make millions of dollars. I'm just starting my journey,  I'm been chasing my dream for six years and not until two years ago did I start living it. I've had good time & bad times, I would never trade my career for anything else.

I work behind the scenes. My official title is a Production Assistant/Runner. My job is to ensure that the band/tour/crew is happy. typically, I go grocery shopping for their favorite foods that they would like to put on their bus or in their greenroom. It doesn't end there! I sometimes am responsible for coordinating in-store signings, driving artists to and from the airport, taking bus drivers to their hotel and the list goes on. Every day is different, one of the many perks to my job. 

The goal of this blog is to inspire YOU. The music industry isn't hard to get into, just be ready to get your hands dirty. You can do anything, you just have to do it!
