In this video shake table experiment has been performed on scale building to understand how building behave during earthquake. Also how we can calculate the responses of structure has been shown. Detail experimental method has shown with voice.

For preparation of scale model four steel bars have been used as column and steel plates has been welded so to act as a slab of building. Three story building with bracing connected on the last floor. Prepared  model has fixed on the shake table using screws. accerlometer has been fixed on each floor so as to collect the responses from each floor. Then with help of another instrument we had set the RPM at different values such as 100,200 etc and related data has been collected in the excel file automatically. the main purpose of shake table test is to know how building shake ie shaking of building in earthquake. so we can get how much building gets displaced when earthquake comes. we can generate heavy earthquake situation from the shake table test. that model analysis will help us to know why building collapse in earthquake. there are many earthquake happened in recently which were so destructive like nepal earthquake or japan earthquake. tremendous ground shaking can be observed there. after proper analysis we can think on how to build earthquake resistance building design. then we can also think on anti earthquake system for building. so analysis will help us in many ways to have progressive thinking

in this video i have explained all the different seismic analysis procedures. also i have given the details where to use which methods ie applicability of methods. i have given codals provision with reference. base shear concept and lateral load concept i have explained in detail. how to calculate base shear . what is the importance of base shear. effect on roof displacement.

In order to perform the seismic analysis and design of a structure to be built at a particular location, the actual time history record is required. However, it is not possible to have such records at each and every location. Further, the seismic analysis of structures cannot be carried out simply based on the peak value of the ground acceleration as the response of the structure depend upon the frequency content of ground motion and its own dynamic properties. To overcome the above difficulties, earthquake response spectrum is the most popular tool in the seismic analysis of structures. There are computational advantages in using the response spectrum method of seismic analysis for prediction of displacements and member forces in structural systems. The method involves the calculation of only the maximum values of the displacements and member forces in each mode of vibration using smooth design spectra that are the average of several earthquake motions. This chapter deals with response spectrum method and its application to various types of the structures. The codal provisions as per IS:1893 (Part 1)-2002 code for response spectrum analysis of multi-story building is also summarized. Response spectra are curves plotted between maximum response of SDOF system subjected to specified earthquake ground motion and its time period (or frequency). Response spectrum can be interpreted as the locus of maximum response of a SDOF system for given damping ratio. Response spectra thus helps in obtaining the peak structural responses under linear range, which can be used for obtaining lateral forces developed in structure due to earthquake thus facilitates in earthquake-resistant design of structures. Pushover Analysis Amongst the natural hazards, earthquakes have the potential for causing the greatest damages. Since earthquake forces are random in nature & unpredictable, the engineering tools need to be sharpened for analyzing structures under the action of these forces. Earthquake loads are to be carefully modeled so as to assess the real behavior of structure with a clear understanding that damage is expected but it should be regulated. In this context pushover analysis which is an iterative procedure is looked upon as an alternative for the conventional analysis procedures. Pushover analysis of multi-story RCC framed buildings subjected to increasing lateral forces is carried out until the preset performance level (target displacement) is reached. The promise of performance-based seismic engineering (PBSE) is to produce structures with predictable seismic performance. The recent advent of performance based design has brought the non linear static push over analysis procedure to the forefront. Pushover analysis is a static non linear procedure in which the magnitude of the structural loading along the lateral direction of the structure is incrementally increased in accordance with a certain pre-defined pattern. It is generally assumed that the behavior of the structure is controlled by its fundamental mode and the predefined pattern is expressed either in terms of story shear or in terms of fundamental mode shape.

In this video I have analyzed G+3 story building by using staad pro software. I have referred one problem solved for comparison purpose. As we know in software garbage in and garbage out happens if we give wrong input. Hence it is necessary that we should give manual check. First we model that 4 story building in the bently staad pro software. Then we give the section properties to the elements of the building. Next we release the moment for secondary beams hence they will act as a simply supported beam. Then we have applied fixed supports to our rcc structure. next part is of applying loading in staad pro , this will clear how to apply load in staad pro. while modelling we also create secondary beam and we will release the moment also. hence that will help you to know how to release moment in staad pro software for secondary beam. after watching above video you will know Building analysis and Design (G+3) In STAAD Pro V8i Software. the plan of building is similar to residential house so concept related to analysis and design of residential house will also get clear.

in this video i have shown how to use master slave command in staad pro software as well as why to use master slave command. also i have shown how to find out the co-ordinates of center of gravity of structure. master slave command is used to prevent the later bending of beam. in practical rcc beam never bend laterally. master slave is used for node in specification tab of staad pro software. after watching this video you will come to know understanding and assigning master slave in staad pro software. you can assign master slave for multiframe structure also. rcc slab act as a rigid floor diaphragm.

according to the code : Lining of canals is an important feature of irrigation projects as it improves the flow characteristics and minimizes the loss of water due to seepage. The water thus saved can be utilized for the extension and improvement of irrigation. Lining of water courses in the areas irrigated by tube wells assumes special significance as the pumped water supply is relatively more costly. The reduced seepage also prevents rise of the sub-soil water table and thus reduces the possibility of damage to the adjoining areas by water logging. Further, due to adoption of higher velocities in a lined canal there is a saving in the cross-sectional area of the canal and land width required, with corresponding saving in the cost of excavation and masonry works. It helps in retention of shape of the canal. Lining also results in improvement of command and larger working head for power generation.

The functions of lining are:

 a) Seepage control, b)

 Prevention of water logging,

 c) Increased hydraulic efficiency, 

d) Increased resistance to erosion/abraison,

e) Reduction in cross-section area and consequential smaller structures,

 J) Low operation and maintenance cost.

The following are the important requirements for the selection of type of canal lining:

in this video i have discussed some terms from earthquake engineering and then i shifted to the most interesting factor that affects on structural damage and its relation. in building structure there are two types of columns. so first we need to know, what is short column and what is long column. what is difference between short column and long column. then we can shift towards the effect of short column and long column. no these effects are related to earthquake , hence we need to know what is earthquake and how they are caused and what are there effects on structure or building. so that means we need to know how short column gets affect by earthquake force. suppose if your building is in Nepal and earthquake comes then these lateral forces that are generated by Nepal earthquake will try to move the building laterally. after analysis it has been cleared that short column attract more earthquake force than long column. hence short column needs to be designed heavily. if it is not then nepal earthquake / lateral forces  will fail  the short column. as we know how load is distributed in structure ie load transfer mechanism of building structure. slab transfer the load on beam , beam transfer the load on column then column transfer the load on the footing.  so this is the mechanism or way of load transfer  in building structure. after studying load transfer mechanism you will understand the importance of column and how its failure affect in collapse of entire building. after knowing effect of earthquake on structure or specially on short column we need to know in which case we will get the short column. that has been described in the later half of the video.
